India should build its Positioning in Health Tourism. With Yoga, meditation, ayurveda, allopathyand other systems of medicine, India offers a unique basket of services that is difficult to match

by other countries. India needs to exploit the cost advantage it can offer to health tourists. A

heart surgery in U.S costs 5 times as compared to India. The biggest driver for healthcare

tourism is the disparity in costs.

India has only 86,000 hotel rooms in a country of 1.1 billion people. By contrast, there are morethan 4.3 million rooms in the U.S and almost 74,000 in New York City alone. 100 percent FDI is

permissible in the sector on the automatic route. India should invite and entertain new

international players like Amar resorts, Shangri-la Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels and the Hilton

group to establish presence in India.

On arrival in India, Tourists have their first instance with the taxi drivers and then the hotelmanagers. Hence the Taxi Drivers should be honest and humble. Our Tourism authorities should

start up courses and encourage our Taxi Drivers to enroll in programs where they can get

trained for 2 months in delivering best services before they are given commercial license and

should also attend a week's training program every year like in Singapore.

Currently, India has about 33 ATMs per million population whereas China has 98 ATMs permillion, Singapore has 419 ATMs per million, and South Korea has 1,600 ATMs per million.

White-label ATMs should be developed in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Rajasthan,Tamilnadu and Kerala

majorly. Mobile ATMs which are limited to few cities like Mumbai, Chandigarh and Kochi should

be extended to more tourist places .

The shortage of qualified human resources and gaps in the availability of tourism traininginfrastructure and qualified trainers are issues to be resolved. 32 training institutes in India are

members of the Network of Asia-Pacific Education and Training Institutes in Tourism

(APETIT).However Indian institutes are not taking the advantage to generate efficient labor.

India ranks 134th in the Ease of Doing Business Index by World Bank. In Singapore that ranks 1,business can be started in 3 days where as in India it takes more than 23 days. India should

implement business regulation reforms focused on technology-implementing electronic

business registration, electronic filing for taxes, and online submission of customs forms and

payments, and the report notes which will attract foreign investments.
