Beginner Tiffany Style Stained Glass The students will learn the copper foil method, to make an approximate 10” square panel in three basic colours. An additional colour may be purchased if desired. They will learn to cut the pattern , transfer it to the glass, cut the glass, fit, grind and copper foil the edges and solder together. Instruction and materials include three colours of glass. Students should wear long sleeves and NO SANDALS. Bring an apron, safety glasses and a bag lunch. 16 years of age and over.

Studio Time - Pottery Applicants must register for use of studio time, pay the fee and purchase the clay we provide at a cost which includes the firing and glazes. Registrants cannot expect instruction. Students will bring their own tools. Registrants open to teenagers and adults with verified prior instruction.

Why Don’t My Pictures Look Like What I Saw?Photographic instruction covering basic camera functions, how to see better, composition, lighting and generally getting you from “boy is that disappointing” to “Wow, I can’t believe I took that!” . 12 yrs. to adult with a basic knowledge of your camera functions. Student to bring any camera and a willingness to learn. Bring a laptop if you have one or some other means of sharing your photos with the instructor and the other students (flash drive, CDs, DVDs, portable hard drive, etc.).

Beginner Felting Learn the basics of this very hands-on fibre art. Make four projects and learn four different techniques of manipulating fibre into fabric. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel, plastic bag, lunch and enthusiasm.

Brazilian Embroidery Learn stitches from an ancient craft of three dimensional embroidery to create beautiful designs. Enjoyable for the beginner and the experienced crafter.

Instructor: Clarice BowdidgeDate: Tuesday, April 17 - May 22Time: 1pm - 3pm (6 sessions)Fee: $30. Some supplies will be available at class. Approximately $50. for the necessary supplies and students must bring a 5-inch embroidery hoop and scissors.

Exterior Home Design Workshop Part of Terry’s “Be Your Own Designer” series. Are you thinking of updating the exterior look of your home this season? Terry briefly touches on products that can be used to update the look of your home-whether it is existing or in the construction stage.

With hands-on samples of siding, stone and brick, shingles, and paint, we will discuss possibilities with each participants home. We request a clear digital file of all the views of the home wherever possible, and very clear printed photographs. It is the intention to review options for each individual home as a class. Discussing the possibilities and gaining product knowledge is a great way to ramp up the energy in getting started on your exterior renovation. We will also discuss fencing and deck products and colours, but not landscaping. Students bring a digital file and/or actual photos of the home from all angles-whatever they can provide but must bring something. Maximum 8 (9-10 may be possible) students.

Intermediate Stained Glass For those who have taken the Beginner Class.For those who want to continue in this beautiful art form. The project will be a panel of 20” x 21” with a more challenging pattern. You can choose between two patterns. Students should wear long sleeves and NO SANDALS. Bring an apron, safety glasses and a bag lunch. Students 16 years of age and over. Instructor: Sandra French Date: Wednesdays, May 2 to June 6 Time: 6:30 - 9:30pm Fee: $180. Sheets of glass are $12. per one square foot sheet.

Filming a Family Event Introduction to the recording, on video, of important family events (birthdays, holidays, reunions, etc.). Emphasis will be put on the section of content and how to put together a final DVD that can be distributed to friends and family. Student must bring a video camera.

Felted Purses A Beginner Felting course or similar experience is a pre-requisite for this workshop. If purses are your bag, you’ll enjoy creating a seamless purse using a wet felting and resist technique. Clutch or mobile phone case, over the shoulder or simple handles are possible. Embellishments are provided. However, you may want to bring your own beads, buttons or threads to design a one-of-a-kind fashion statement. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel, plastic bag, lunch and enthusiasm.

Adult Pottery - Wheel Work and Handbuilding Students will learn skills in using the wheel based on their individual need and a variety of handbuilding techniques. Ages 13 and up. Varying experience and skill.

Stripping With Your Clothes OnThe only thing getting naked will be your time-worn pieces of furniture. Various methods of stripping your wood furniture and other items will be discussed and demonstrated. Not wishing to leave your furniture “bare” , we will discuss and sample ways to apply various stains and finishes. Thiswill largely be a “how-to” class, as ventilation for stripper use is limited at the centre. If enough interest is expressed by our prospective students to actually do the work on a piece of their own, arrangements could be discussed to hold a separate workshop if an alternative fresh air location could be found. Instructor will provide samples of everything necessary to demonstrate the techniques. No experience necessary. Prefer 18 and up-mature teens considered. Students may bring a small piece(s) for demonstration and instruction unique to their item(s). An apron or old shirt and a pair of striping gloves may be useful

Jewellery Making Jewellery making, wire work (earrings, pendants, bracelets).

Knitting - The First Steps This hands on course is aimed at the first time knitter. You will complete a small project, learning and practicing the basic stitches and techniques you will need to begin knitting projects such as scarves, hats, and sweaters. Pattern reading and knitting terms will also be introduced. Left-handers are welcome. Accepting teenage and adult students. Bring a bag lunch.

Feltscape A Beginner Felting course or similar experience is prerequisite for this workshop. Create your own work of art to wow any wall in this one-day workshop. Students will fibre paint using a combination of wet and dry felting techniques to produce a piece that may be framed. You may wish to bring a picture to inspire you for your piece (continue a theme, or show your favorite colours). Wear comfortable clothing and bring a towel, plastic bag, lunch and enthusiasm.

Knitting - The Next Steps Do you understand the knit and purl stitch, but get lost when trying to follow a pattern? Do you want to knit a sweater, and can’t quite get started? In this hands on class, you will take your knitting to the next step, and bycompleting a small project will perfect the skills needed to complete a garment. Pattern reading, knitting terms, and graphs/symbols will also be introduced. Left-handers are welcome. Accepting teenage and adult students. Maximum 10 students.

FOOD SAFETY EDUCATION COURSEOperators of commercial food establishments are required to have more provincially certified food handlers on staff than in the past. Establishments with six or more food handlers on the premises will need one certified food handler on each shift. Establishments of five or fewer food handlers must employ at least one certified food handler.

Food handlers can obtain provincial certification through successful completion of the following two-day course:

THE WETASKIWIN & AREA MEN’S SOCCER LEAGUE WILL BE KICKING OFF ITS 4TH SEASON IN MAY!

This is a low-cost league ideal for men looking to play some competitive soccer without having to drive to the city. We have several teams in Wetaskiwin along with teams in Leduc, Millet, and Ponoka. We play weekly running from May through the end of August including playoffs. We are now in open registration for anyone age 16 and up who wants to register as a player or even enter a whole team. National Lifeguard Service (16 yrs & Up)The NLS certification prepares lifeguards to fulfill this role as professional facilitators of safe, enjoyable aquatics. This program develops the basic lifeguarding skills, principles, and decision-making process to help lifeguards evaluate and adapt to different aquatic facilities and emergencies. NLS training also develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment and a mature and responsible attitude toward the role of the lifeguard. Prerequisites: 16 yrs old, Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care

The Weight Wise program is here to help you reach your goals! Weight Wise is a group program that is focused on helping people achieve health weights for healthy lives. Through weekly sessions, participants learn the truth about what really works for weight loss and many tools including healthy eating, exercise and stress management.

Prenatal ClinicThe Primary Prenatal Clinic offers obstetrical patients specialized care during their preg-nancies. With the goal of providing prenatal care to patients and their families with a focus on education and holistic care. A team of skilled, experienced family physicians, two prenatal nurses, a dietitian and patient care facilitator (Social Worker) have committed to caring for maternity patients. Mothers and their newborns will resume care with their own family physicians following delivery. The PCN will assist in finding a family physician for those mothers and newborns that don’t have a family physician. The clinic is held every Thursday from 1pm - 4:30pm. Appointments or walk ins are welcome!

Patient Care FacilitatorThe Patient Care Facilitator works to connect clients experiencing barriers to meeting individual and family needs with community resources. Talk to your family Physician about a referral to see the Patient Care Facilitator Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4pm

Tracy Project (Tobacco Cessation and Child Bearing Years)The TRACY Project is a FREE group support, information, and practical skills for pregnant women and new moms trying to reduce or quit smoking that will take place at the Wetaskiwin Primary Care Network. The group consists of 4 sessions that are 1 hour in length. The facilitators (prenatal nurses) help to educate and make goals with the participants in regards to their smoking. It is geared for women in any stage of pregnancy as well as immediate postpartum mothers. Call 780-312-2500 to register today!
