HARVEST FESTIVALThank you to all our parents and guests who attended our Harvest Festival assembly on the last day of the term. A very successful event saw children singing, reciting poems and serving our guests with refreshments made by our children. The food items that were kindly donated were delivered to Voluntary Action Rutland who distributed the goods within the community on our behalf.

Mrs Doyle, Ryan and Lola’s Mum did a Charity bike ride. She rode for 7 hours, covered 49 miles and raised £200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

So far this term in Willow Class we have been extremely busy. In Literacy we have been looking at poetry, in particular poems by Roger McGough. In Numeracy we have been looking at measures including mass, length and angles. For our new 3i topic ‘Heroes and

Villains’ we have been looking at superheroes, designing one and investigating their characteristics. We have also created models of our superheroes to be developed with further work at Catmose College. As part of our Halloween and Guy Fawkes celebrations we have been making chocolate apples and fairy cakes.

Willow class would like to welcome our 3 new starters, Caitlin Richman, Katie Thompson and Olivia Meredith-Wood who have settled in so well.

FOCUS ON: WILLOW CLASS

Key Stage two children enjoyed an excellent Egyptian workshop led by Mark Halls from ‘Portals To The Past’, who also previously appeared on CBBC’s Horrible Histories. The workshop involved dressing up, investigating artefacts, taking part in mummification and playing quizzes and Egyptian games.

Connor Reid, Yr 6 said “We learnt what it was like to be an Egyptian, including how to wrap a mummy and take his brains out!”
