getting rich. Although they

grew up like brothers, once

money and envy entered the

KONTAGIOUS

Trina Blackman For me from the very first page I knew this would be something I would like reading. It had my atten-tion from the very start. Now I felt a little weird about reading a sexual relationship with an underage male in it, but I kept reading. I read it over and over again. Even as I write this review, I went back to get read the first few pages all again. it was most intense. How many women get to say that their first was anything like that! I know she was the pro but still he was 16! Then the story-line grew into some-thing heartwarming, and you love the man he became with his wife. Derrick and Kandis seem perfect together. Again displaying black love in a great way. But all does not stay so great. Tragedy hits and that is when the divides begin and the marriage begin to have troubles. A love triangle emerges that really has you wanting more. There are secrets in this story that comes out and truly hit you like a ton of bricks. I really love the family secret that came to light. It was jaw dropping and heart breaking. Although did not like that Kandis went all hood rat with most of her plan of revenge, I must say bravo for using what she had to get what she wanted. now the twists and turns, and the whole " small world" business that is really had me not wanting to but my kindle down. I was so mad when the story came to a end. Now I know this story will continue but I simply can not wait. It was truly exciting and creative. I did not want to give away too much but I will say this book is awesome. I read it on one sitting, that is how good it was. Now I do wish the story was a little longer and the plot a little more developed. I feel it did get to the end a little fast. I feel this author has the ability to really bring more to their story. I was a little distracted by the pdf version of the story, many pages were blank. But not only would I recommend this book, I will read it again, and again.

OMG!!! This book was soooooo good. *fans self*.....Mannnnnn......the introduction of new characters mixed with the old.....wait a mi-nute! 5out of 5 Stars I need a Lucky in my life. ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CHARACTER of this book. This dude was funny even as a teenager. I was CTFU while reading about him and reading his character dialogue..."Oohhh".....LOL.. Lucky was a standup guy and so was his family. They were good people in a sense that if they were for you then you had friends for life. Lucky's daddy was just as crazy and it was clear that the apple fell right under the tree. Fin was Lucky's friend but he had some ways about him; that made Lucky look at him side-ways. But little did Lucky know; Fin was going through something. When Lucky took care of a situation for Fin; I knew then that he would for real get into his father's line of work. I do not think Lucky could have done much else...his swag was on 100 and I turned every page hoping to read more and more about Lucky. All I am going to say is the baseball game with the squirrel incident will have you ROTFL. Naomi Holland suffered a brutal past and I wept right along with her. I was happy when she came around and stopped lashing out at Kevin. He was doing the best that he could but sometimes it takes a woman to right a situation. That is what Serena did and it what Naomi needed to be able to heal and mature. Serena would never replace Nituna but she offered a motherly presence that was lack-ing. Naomi, Lucky, and Fin were an odd bunch but it worked. Because of Lucky's affiliations, life became real comfortable for the trio. They received good educations and went far in life....well Fin and Naomi. Lucky came out the womb as a gangster. The kids....oh my...It was obvious Naomi was fertile Myrtle! I lost count of the kids because it was too many. They all had interesting personalities and fed off of one another. I had a feeling that Doss would take Dawk and recruit him but I did not see the other 2 com-ing. That twist threw me but Junior was a given and I expected that from Lucky. Amidst their not so normal life; they still made time for family and often got together which I loved reading about. Grandpa Dee and Mendoza were still crazy in even their older years. Best dysfunctional family I have read about in a long time. You will fall in love with everyone. What's next? Well....in all honesty, I have some reservations about the next book. Clever has written 6 incredible stories that piggy-back off of one another and each story needed to be told. By reading the 6 books; you will see that the world is smaller than you thought and people are intertwined in the most peculiar ways. But I am just not sure how the Lapiente family fits back into the equa-tion. I will have to wait like everyone else and find out. Reviewed by Lizzy Linh K for Urban Grapevine Magazine
