WHAT IS THE OFFICE OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL?The Office of the Inspector General works to ensure that the Global Fund invests the world’s money in the most effective way possible to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Through audits, investigations, oversight and consultancy work, the Office of the Inspector General promotes good practice, reduces risk and reports on abuse. Established in 2005, the Office of the Inspector General is an independent yet integral part of the Global Fund. It is accountable to the Board through its Audit and Ethics Committee.

MISSIONTo safeguard the assets, investments, reputation and sustainability of the Global Fund by ensuring that it takes the right action to accelerate the end of the three diseases.

TWO KEY MESSAGES: 1. SAY N0 TO WRONGDOING! The Office of the Inspector General believes that every dollar counts and has zero tolerance for fraud, corruption and waste. Through its whistle-blowing channels, the Office of the Inspector General encourages all to come forward to point out any irregularities that prevent Global Fund resources from reaching those who need them.

2. SAY YES TO TRANSPARENCY! The Office of the Inspector General reports on the activities it undertakes pursuant to its charter. The Office of the Inspector General strives for full disclosure, accountability and transparency regarding its own activities, as well as those of the Secretariat and of grant recipients.
