Conference.

Thirty-two experimental shorts, documentaries

and features from ten countries will be screened

and a dozen more will be discussed with excerpts

shown. Nations represented include The

Netherlands, Armenia, Spain, U.K., Scotland,

Denmark, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and the

United States.

The four-day festival, which is free to the

public, features dance media films and artists

unified by the modern task of creating work with a

multitude of platforms in mind. The "active

spectrum" of opportunity includes multi-screen

installations, handhelds, websites, online social

networks, and more. Seating at all public events is

first come first served; thus guaranteed seating

through a special DCW Membership Pass is highly

recommended...

The festival opens on Thursday, 16 June 2011, with

a private reception at the Getty Center for invited

guests and DCW Membership Pass holders.

Kicking off the festival that evening is Screendance

Shorts 1, a collection of nine short dance films,

including several U.S. premieres.

SOUND OF SEA – ONLINE

SURVEY

The International Association of Music

Information Centres would like to invite you

to fill in this survey about the online presence

of artists. In order to be able to supply artists

with information and tools in the new media

sector it is necessary to know why worldwide

disparities in internet usage and access still

exist.

This survey is a part of the Sound of Sea

project and a cooperation between IAMIC and

Kufstein University of applied sciences.

UNESCO’S GLOBAL ALLIANCE TO

LAUNCH NEW WEB PLATFORM

UNESCO’s Global Alliance, an operational

project of the Convention on the Protection and

Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural

Expressions, aims to facilitate the creation of public

and private sector partnerships in the cultural and

creative industries in developing countries.

In recent years great progress has been achieved in

developing the cultural and creative sector but

there is still a lack of capacity building tools in

creating effective partnerships.

The new Global Alliance web platform was created

with this need in view. The beta version of the

website is an online resource of assessment tools,

fact sheets, case studies and how-to guides on

forging and creating public and private sector

partnerships. It details the conceptual framework

for creating partnerships and outlines the key

players and principles of bringing parties together.

The website also offers advice on developing the

aims and objectives of a partnership and tips on

finding and negotiating with suitable partners.

There are also templates on how to draw up

contractual agreements and sample evaluation

tools.

The website is for cultural organisations that are

seeking partnerships and don’t know where to

begin. It is also for organizations and institutions

that have successful stories to share. The Global

Alliance brings together cultural industry

stakeholders who need advice or have advice to

give. It is a meeting place and a growing community

of practice where cultural industry stakeholders

can discuss challenges and exchange views.

Visit the website, join the community, use the tools

and stay in touch! www.unesco.org/culture/alliance.
