Imtech were commissioned to undertake a Station Modernisation and Enhancement Project
at Morden Station which comprised of the provision of new electrical and mechanical
services as well as modification to the existing. As Morden is the last station on the Southern
end of the Northern Line, work was restricted by very short engineering hours (typically 2 1/2
hours work per shift).
All switchrooms were upgraded and new multi-compartment cable containment provided
throughout the station. New lighting was integrated with the cable management system
in the Ticket Hall. Additionally mechanical services to staff areas were installed and
commissioned, which included:
1. Provision of a tempered supply and extract ventilation to the Ticket Office
and Station Control complete with 1 hour dampers.
2. A split system comfort cooling system to the Station Control Room
3. New water tank and associated pipework.
Imtech also provided all services associated with the Step Free Access project which provided
a new footbridge and 2 No MIP lifts, including providing all services associated with the lifts
and new lighting and power to the Overbridge and ensuring their integrated with the
complete station modernisation and enhancement project.
“I have great pleasure in writing this testimonial to the achievements of Imtech Electrical
contractors for their sterling efforts on the Morden Station Moderation works. The contract
was awarded late in the project and every effort was made by Imtech to bring the contract
in on time allowing Tube Lines to meet the completion date.
I would also comment that during the contract Imtech was tasked with the installation of all
Communication Cables. This was key to the completion of the work and without Imtech’s
expertise the station would not have made the completion date. I would and have
recommended Imtech for future works on Tube Lines
contracts.”

Imtech were commissioned to undertake work at the operational mainline
station. The work was undertaken to the area used by the Heathrow Express, which
is inboard of the station and created major logistic problems. The alterations were
carried out without disruption to the day to day operation of the station and
involved a considerable amount of night working.
With reference to a presentation video showing the completed project.
“We always promised everyone who'd contributed to the success of the Paddington
Masterplan project that we'd provide a memento of the part of your lives that you
spent as part of our team. I hope you will enjoy viewing it and that it will bring to
mind, with pride and enjoyment, not only your part in the team but also how much
was accomplished by you all.”

Peek Traffic Limited provides Transport for London (TfL), maintenance services for
approximately 3,000 traffic signal intersections and pedestrian crossings. All intersections
operate through vehicle actuation and many are also linked through to a SCOOT based
