IMS Signaling Middleware

Key benefitsThe main benefit of the IMS Signaling Middleware is to provide a complete platform independent and portable control plane solution for IMS nodes and applications. The solution is built for telecom grade platforms and has the following key benefits: » High Availability » Distributable » High Capacity » Small footprint » Standards Compliant » Ideal for implementation of IMS nodes and ap-

plications

Features » Platform independent signaling solution » Protocol support in compliance with 3GPP and

IETF standards for: • SIP• Diameter

» SIP provides basic functions for call and session handling in VoIP and IMS networks

» Support for SIP extensions for a wide variety of services such as presence, instant messaging etc in the IMS

» Diameter base protocol for Authentication, Au-thorization and Accounting (AAA)

» Additional Diameter application support such as Diameter Credit Control Application, On-line/off-line charging in IMS (Ro/Rf interfaces)

» Access to Signaling protocols through distributed easy-to-use APIs that are linked together with the application

» Thread-safe, call-back C/C++ available for vari-ous operating environments and Java APIs are supported

» Possibility for multiple applications to use the same protocol stack with load sharing between application instances

» Alarms & Statistics » IMS ready, supports all 3GPP specific identities,

comand codes and results codes defined in 3GPPTS 29.230 (2007-09)

ConfigurationsThe following configurations are available: » Standalone » High Availability

Standards » Conforms to 3GPP and IETF

standards

Product overviewThe telecom industry is today facing very high demands in terms of functionality, capacity and reliability from their customers. On the other hand, there is also a demand on reducing cost and development lead-time. One way of reducing cost and lead-time, while maintaining operating characteristics, is to use a standards-based Modular Communications Platform (MCP).

Telecom operators also face the challenge of providing attractive end-user services and applications, in order to combat reduced revenue and margin for existing services. One answer to this is the introduction of Next Generation All-IP Networks such as the IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS. The IMS is a generic architecture for providing multimedia services and has been embraced by all major standardizations organizations such as 3GPP, 3GPP2 and ETSI.

The IMS Signaling Middleware is an integrated signaling sub-system consisting of Tieto signaling components. It is a signaling software system specifically designed for IMS nodes and applications such as IMS Application Servers, Call Session Control Functions (CSCF) and Charging systems. It is designed to meet the extreme requirements on reliability, capacity, scalability and footprint, normally required in telecom network nodes. The IMS Signaling Middleware is intended for telecom equipment manufacturers, system integrators and network operators implementing IMS nodes and applications. The IMS Signaling Middleware is provided either sepa-rately or integrated into Tieto’s packaged signaling solutions Stack-on-a-Card, Stack-in-a-Box and Signaling for Linux/Solaris. This makes it ideal for developing convergence and gateway solutions where both IP based and traditional SS7 based signaling is required.

PRODUCT SHEET Signaling Solutions

Signaling Solutions from Tieto provide turnkey signaling platforms for usage in telecom applications like location-based or prepaid services, messaging, voice over IP, and softswitch solutions. They also provide an ideal basis for the migra-tion into Next Generation All-IP Networks. They comply with ITU, ANSI, TTC, Chinese, 3GPP and IETF standards.
