The following requirements are needed for the OpenSpirit Connection Work: • The OpenSpirit server needs to be running.

• The OpenSpirit server needs to have three licenses: a) OpenSpirit Base Framework; b) OpenSpirit DataStore (for example: SeisWorks); c) OpenSpirit Client Access License (Hampson-Russell).

• The end-user needs to have the OpenSpirit client installed in the test machine along with an account in the OpenSpirit DataStore (SeisWorks).

• OpenSpirit Seismic Volume and Horizon is supported on Linux 32 and the 64 version of HRS-9 and on the Windows 32 and 64 versions of HRS-9.

Linux configuration:

OSP_HOME has to be defined for your environment, e.g.:

setenv OSP_HOME /home/stephan/OpenSpirit_3.2.2

Also OSP_PORT and OSP_HOST have to be definedm e.g.:

setenv OSP_PORT 15321

setenv OSP_HOST halo

The OpenSpirit_3.2.2 library has to be installed in the end-user machine.

The OpenSpirit_3.2.2 client has to be installed in the end-user machine.

Windows configuration:

To set environment variables, do the following:

Start Button > Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings >

Environment Variables

OSP_HOME has to be defined for your environment variables (System Variables):

OSP_HOME C:\Program Files\OpenSpirit\v4.0

OSP_PORT, OSP_HOST, and Path have to be defined:

OSP_PORT 15401

OSP_HOST cgy527ws.int.cggveritas.com

The path has to be defined for OpenSpirit:

Path C:\Program Files\OpenSpirit\v4.0\lib\Windows_x86_64\vc10

And check if the osp_plugin.dll is under your HRS installation, for example:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Hampson-Russell\HRS-9 R-1.5 (64-bit)\geoview\exe

In order to check that OpenSpirit Connection is operating normally do the following: use the OpenSpirit Launcher and select a previously defined session. In the OpenSpirit Launcher, select Tools and DataSelector/CopyManager. Then select Seismic and a respective Project, 3D Survey, and 3D Volume.

To start OpenSpirit Launcher:

$OSP_HOME/bin/openspirit

Pitfalls:

1) When $OSP_HOME is not defined properly.

2) In the case of Linux: when LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not defined properly.

Importing Seismic Volumes This presentation shows the functionality and workflow when importing seismic volumes and horizons from an OpenSpirit-enabled database on HRS-9.

• The data for this particular presentation is in the OpenWorks R5000 Data Source type. And, the project used was “Guide”.

• When importing seismic volumes from OpenSpirit the following features can be used:

1) For a newly created project, import seismic volumes from OpenSpirit.

2) Save the new project as a HRS project (this will save the header information of the imported seismic volumes in the persistent database).

3) Copy a given seismic volume imported from OpenSpirit in the SEG-Y format. Copy the same seismic volume imported from SeisWorks in the SEG-Y format and compare both seismic volumes using the appropriate tools.

4) Import Horizons from OpenSpirit.

8

Start Geoview and on the Seismic Window, select Open Seismic from OpenSpirit.

11

The name of the previous entities selected are displayed in the top of the dialog. Values for the geometry from the selected dataset are displayed in the dialog. After ensuring that the geometry is the desired one, click OK to load and visualize the seismic volume.

Importing Horizons

17

This shows the functionality and workflow when importing horizons from an OpenSpirit-enabled database on HRS-9.

• When using the horizon import from OpenSpirit, you can:

1) Import a few horizons from OpenSpirit into a seismic volume.

2) Test the workflow in the Import Horizon From OpenSpirit dialog.

3) Compare the map window of a specific horizon with the same horizon imported from a different data source (e.g. SeisWorks).
