18th June 2020 Dear Parents and Carers, Re: Sacramental Program First Holy Communion and Confirmation will not occur this year. A decision has been made to run the Reconciliation program again this year for any 7, 8 or 9 year old's who have not yet made their Reconciliation. The program will commence on the 20th July (week 2 of Term 3). Students are expected to attend one session a week, for 6 weeks, with a parent. If you would like to register your interest for the Reconciliation program, please contact me via email. [email protected] Sport News I am in the process of organising extra athletics training for students turning 8 and 9 this year. All students turn- ing 8 or 9 this year, are invited to take part in Athleticsfield event rotations on Tuesday 14 th July. The rotations will take place from 3pm to 5pm. We are providing extra training for these students, so they are better prepared for competition next year. If you intend on sending your child to this training, please let me know via email. Thank you for all of your efforts in what will be remembered as the most disrupted school terms in my lifetime, and possibly yours. I wish you all a very well deserved holiday. We look forward to catching up with you all in term 3. Mary of the Southern Cross God of all peoples, you inspire us by the courage of our pioneers and enrich us by the ancient wisdom of the Indigenous people who first inhabited this land. Through the intercession of Mary of the Southern Cross may the people of this diocese and all who live within our shores be gathered together to form one people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Important flu facts from Queensland Health:

1. Flu is a serious illness for everyone, but particularly for children.

2. Flu strains change each year, so you and your children need to be vaccinated every

year.

3. Flu spreads easily between people, particularly children.

- If you (or your child) are unwell, stay home and seek medical advice.

- Wash your hands frequently with soap and running water.

- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, throw the tissue in the bin and wash

your hands.

Having an annual flu vaccination this year can:

• Reduce the severity and spread of flu

• Prevent you getting flu on top of other respiratory infections that may be circulat-

ing

• Relieve pressure on our health system

Free vaccine is available for those individuals at greatest risk of severe flu. They are: • all children aged 6 months to less than 5 years of age • pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy • persons 65 years of age or older • all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 6 months and older • individuals aged 6 months and older with medical conditions which increase their

risk of severe influenza and its complications. All other Queenslanders can purchase the vaccine from their doctor or immunisation provider. Visit your doctor or other childhood immunisation provider to arrange vaccinations.

COVID-19 Health Reminder Please be aware that students who present in the office with sore throats, obvious coughs and symptoms of a head cold, such as a runny nose and congestion, are not permitted to be at school. Under the current COVID protocols, students with these symptoms will have to spend time in the infirmary and wait for an adult to collect them. I completely understand this situation puts pressure on working parents, however, we need to follow the rules. If your child presents with any of these symptoms in the morning, please do not send them to school and contact the office to report this absence. Please call us daily to inform us of absences. Thank you for your assistance.

SPORT NEWS In term 3 we have planned to hold two athletics track carnivals to provide opportunities for the students while being mindful of the restrictions that have been put in place. 9 to 12 year old’s will be held on Wednesday 15th July. P-3 track carnival on Friday 17th July

Both carnivals will start at 1:30pm and will consist of some fun events and sprint events. Ribbons will be

allocated to the respective age groups for the sprint events. We will not be collecting house points, records,

or presenting medallions for age champions this year.

The running track will face a different direction this year and this will allow for parents to support students

from side fence near the Clifton kindy. We would encourage all parents to support your children while being

mindful not to gather in the school premises. I know a number of students were thrilled to hear about this

opportunity. I’m sure both of these afternoons will be very enjoyable for all involved.

Mass Times

At this stage, all Masses have been cancelled.

SCHOOL FEES:

We do recommend the setting-up of a direct debit facility to pay regular amounts into the school account. This alleviates overdue bills. School: BSB: 064 786 A/C: 523886001 Reminder: P & F payments & Uniform payments are to a different bank account not the school account. Please contact Emma Gascoyne for any further enquiries. Our teachers need to differentiate learning experiences and prepare classrooms in the mornings. If the message is not urgent, we would greatly appreciate it if you simply email messages to us and we will get back to you.
