OUR NATIONAL HERO

Since Islam spread in all over the world, many Muslim heroes got fame and reputation in the world, because they fought for the goodwill of muslim and to spread the message of Islam throughout the world. More than one hundred years ago, the sub-continent was under the Moghal regime, but due to their luxurious live and poor attention towards the country, the European illegally snatched the regime of the sub-continent from Muslim rulers. During the regime of the British Empire, Muslims of the sub-continent were badly revenged and punished. The Hindus co-operated with the English. In such an agonious and pathetic period, one Muslim, whose name was Muhammad Ali Jinnah, to whom the nation called him Quaid-e-Azam, left the practice of Bar-at-Law and faced the political attacks both of the English and the Hindus. The Hindus declared that there was only one nation in India and they were Indian. They demanded a free India and asked the ruler to quit India.

Our national hero, the Quaid-e-Azam was very well versed with the policy of the Hindus, so he gave the slogan “Divide and quit India”. He presented the two nation’s theory and compelled the crown to divide India, except that, no other formula was acceptable. Due to his untiring efforts and keep political thought, both the Hindus and the English surrendered and announced that India will be divided into two sovereign states ----- Pakistan and Bharat. Thus, on the 14th August 1947, Pakistan, a homeland of the Muslims of the sub-continent, came into being and the Quaid-e-Azam became the first Governor General of the new Islamic State. He was too much tired and became ill health, so he could not live more to well establish Pakistan. He died on the 11th September , 1948 and was buried in the heart of Karachi. Though, he is no more with us, but it is our duty to make our country stronger, prosperous and developed, so that the soul of our national hero The Quaid-e-Azam may get satisfaction in the Heaven.

MY AIM in LIFE OR MY AMBITION in LIFE OR

SOCIAL SERVICES

Every human being, whether boy, girl, man or women has an aim in life, but their aims are from one another. Some want to be rich, some want to be healthy, some want to be great leader, scientist, doctor. Being a human I also I have an ambition in life.

I do not want to be wealthy or healthy in the sense of harassing others. I am a Muslim and I have learnt many good things from my religion, from the Holy Book and from the Sunnah. So, I have pitiful heart and I like to serve and help the suffering, the helpless, the needy, the week and all the human being at large.

If we study the world with pitiful eyes, we shall find so many people who have been suffering from different kinds of anxieties, problems and tyrannies and there is nobody to help them. This bitter fact has compelled me to look towards those people who are my own brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers. If they are not my kith an kin, they are connected with the relation of religion and human being.

For this service, I have decided to be a social worker. I have planned to established a social welfare society in my area. In which more and more social minded young and old inhabitants of our area will be invited to take part in the social service and to help the poors, the suffering and the needy persons who actually want our help. I am sure, I shall be successful in my aims and objects and will very soon expand the society far and wide and will beg the rich people of our city to contribute their shares in solving the problems of the sufferings of our city.

Thus, my aim in life will be fulfilled, abiding by the instructions of the Holy Book and Sunnah of our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) May God bless me and all the Muslims. In prevailing love, help and brotherhood among the human being at large.

THE HAPPIEST DAY IN MY LIFE OR

A MEMORABLE DAY IN MY LIFE

Happiness is a boon from the Creator, whose foremost wish is to keep all the human being happy. But due to our misconduct, we converted the happiness into anxieties and grieves. Being a student, I laboured hard in my study to get higher marks in the examination, I did so, and my all papers became fine. But inspite of that I was suffering from a mixed condition of fear and happiness. At last, the day of my result came and that day was a memorable day in my life. I did not sleep whole night, inspite of my effort. Thus the whole night passed and I heard “Azaan” from the mosque. That time. I was too much eager to pray to god, so, I look “Wazoo” and went to the mosque. I offered prayer and after that, I prayed to God with the core of my heart and tear filled eyes, for my success in the examination. After that, I returned home. My mother asked me to take breakfast, but I was in hurry to get my result, so I went out and waited for the hawker. At last, the hawker came with newspapers. I purchased a newspaper and opened the result page with trembling hands and palpitated heart. I can’t express my actual condition in words. However, I got my roll number. What a happiness I got, when I saw my roll number in A-one grade. Harriedly, I rushed to my house and showed them my result. They became very glad and thanked God. After few hours, my friends and relatives came to me and congratulated me. I went to my school/college, where all the teachers and colleagues also congratulated me. The day I can’t forget in my life, that gave me so much happiness and reward of my labour. I assure those students who labour hard and who are very vigilant in their study, one day they also will meet with such an unforgettable day of happiness.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION OR

HOW WE CELEBRATED THE INDEPENDENCE DAY

Fourteen of August is our independence day. On this date Pakistan came into being on the map of word. Pakistan was established by many sacrifices and untring efforts of the Muslims of sub-continent and the Muslim leaders. So, we love our mother land with the core of our hearts. This year on 14th August a function was arranged in our school/college. We reached our school/college at 07.00 a.m. All the teachers and the principal were present there. The principal hoisted flag and we sang national. After that, we hurriedly got into the bus to attend the flag hoisting programme by the Chief Minister at the tomb of our national hero …… Quaid-e-Azam. However, we reached at the tomb of the Quaid, where thousand of people were gathered and the Chief Minister was to arrive. The Police, Army and security guards were standing in rows. In the meantime, the Chief Minister arrived and the function started. National flag was hoisted by the Chief Minister and all the present persons saluted the flag and sang national anthem. After that the Chief Minister threw light in his speech on the reasons that how and why Pakistan came into being. After his speech, the flag hoisting programme ended and we walked to the tombs of Quaid-e-Azam and offered Fateha. We

also visited the tombs of Quaid-e-Millat. Madar-e-Millat, Abdur Rab Nishter and Noorul Amin and offered Fateha.

In the afternoon. We again assembled in our school/college. A colourful dais was made and chairs were arranged under a shamiana. The Principal and other lecturers were present. The function started with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran. After that, some lecturers gave speeches and at the end, the Principal gave very effective speech on the problems faced by our national leaders in making Pakistan and how the Hindu and the British opposed it. He also threw light on the tyrannies of the Hindus. He advised the young people to be united. Disciplined and faithful to the nation and the home land, so that our country may prosper. We promised to follow his advice and shed our last drop of blood for our mother land.

A CRICKET MATCH

Cricket is famous, well known and well understood in Pakistan. It is an outdoor game of very interest, suspense and attraction. So I like this game very much and also play the game as a batsman.

Last month a one day match between Karachi Blues and Hyderabad Eleven was held.

At about 09:30 a.m the game started. Karachi Blues won the loss and invited Hyderabad Eleven to bat first.

The guest team had six batsmen, and five ballars, so they seemed very strong team.

They started batting and within 30 minutes they scored 25 runs, without loss, in 5 overs. Though, the fast ballars of Karachi Blues were using different techniques but in vain. At 10 overs they scored 56 runs without loss. After that Karachi Blues brought spinners from both ends. The policy of Karachi Blues became effective after 20 overs they had lost 3 wickets and scored only 82 runs. However, at the end of 45 overs, Hyderabad Eleven could score 173 runs for 7 wickets.

Ater that Karachi Blues started batting. The captain of the guest team had set up tight

fielding. Four fielders were placed on slip, so it was very difficult for Karachi Blues to score run. They could score only 15 runs after 10 overs, losing one wicket, after loss of the first wicket, the captain of the team came for batting. He was a famous cricket player, so the spectators clapped for long time. He increased the run rate very smoothly and after 25 overs, they were 102 for only one wicket. They scored the required runs at 40 overs for two wickets and thus they own the match for 8 wickets.

The match was very interesting. Thought the guest team was not weak, but

comparatively Karachi Blues played better.

STREET BEGGAR OR

THE PAKISTAN BEGGAR

Beggary in Pakistan is very common. We see beggars in streets, roads, markets, bus stops, Railway stations and shopping centres, begging from every man and woman. They look very pitiable and seem to be very poor and helpless.

We see two kinds of beggar in Pakistan, one is he who really deserve help and the

another is a self made beggar who really does not want help for fulfillment of his necessities, but he wants money for satisfaction of bad habits. Thus blocks the way of those who are needy and whose source of income is the only way on begging, because of they are unable to earn money and they fully depend on help. They actually deserve help and we should help them, but those who are self made beggars and we should not help them so that may adopt they way of earning money by labour.

Pakistan is an Islamic state and being an Islamic State, the government should think

over this genuine problem and they should be helped by the government and school pass a resolution against beggary, because of when the foreigners see those pitiable persons, they come to the conclusion that the country is very poor and such remarks bring bad impression on the foreign countries. So the beggars should be controlled and they should not be allowed to come on the road. Their bio-data should be collected and they should give sufficient aid by the government, according to their need. On the other side those people who want go pay alms, they should be instructed to pay the amount in the government account. Thus the malice of the beggar can be sweeped from the country.

At 8:30 a.m. the chief arrived there. All the teaching staff welcomed him and shaked hand. After that the function started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. After that the students of our of our class sang “Hamd” and “Naat”. The principal gave a lecture on the importance of sports and insisted the students to take keen interest in different games, along with study. STUDENT AND POLITICS

Student life begins in a human society since one starts to read. Gradually. he/she goes

to the upper classes and thus reaches in a university. Thus, the age of student life begins from about five years and ends at the age of about twenty or few years more. The age of the student can be divided into two parts. The first part of student life has no much sense of social, political or other genuine problems, but the second part is physically connected with these problems. He remains eager to know more about them and naturally wants to take part in them, either social or political problems. Therefore, it is a natural demand of a human beings, either a student or a common young people, to take active part in constructive way to face and solve the problems of his unit or town, city or country.

But here as if the question arises whether one should take part in politics during his student life. There are different opinions regarding students and politics. In this regard, I favour the student to take part in politics, but there must be some bindings over them. The matured mined students should be allowed to take part in constructive politics and the first lesson of it begins from the college union. It is also a fact that all the students are not much interested in it, but those who take keen interest in unionship, they much be well versed in the rules and regulations of it and they must adopt those rules which make them perfect unionist. Thus, they are able to know the first lesson of politics. But during educational period they must remember that acquiring of education is their primary duty. They must keep in mind that after affording sufficient time in study, if they save some extra time, they may take part in union activity, and this must be treated as secondary. Further, the students who take part in union or politics, they should select right path of politics and should not play in the hands of selfish and destructive minded persons. If they fail to check themselves, their future shall not be bright and it is feared that their main object of education may spoil. The students are the backbone of the nation and country as well. Tomorrow shall be their day and they shall be responsible for the prosperty and good will of the country. Therefore, it is their first and foremost duty to be well qualified and after that they may take part in politics and their political activities must be constructive and fruitful to the nation and the motherland. The political activities of Aligarh Muslim University’s students are the best example before us. They took part in the politics of the sub-continent and helped the Muslim leaders in fighting against the Hindus and the British rulers, and at last they achieved their goal and Pakistan came into being. Due to the fact our father of the Nation once said, “Aligarh University is the godown of armoury for Muslims.” It was not said due to the fact that the students of the Aligarh University fought against the enemies with arms and swords, but they worked united and helped the Muslim leaders and suffering Muslims of the sub-continent who were victims of the Hindu aggressions. They took very active and constructive part in dividing India and thus we got our new homeland.

Therefore, the students who take part in politics, though it is their fundamental right, they should keep in mind the character and constructive activities of the students of the Aligarh Muslim University. It is sure that they will never adopt destructive activities against the nation and the homeland, because of they are pillar builder of the nation and a leader of the days coming near.

ADULT EDUCATION The people who are more than twenty years old, are called adult. Arrangement of

education to those adults who had either stopped taking education or did not read a word till then, is called adult education.

Education of Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary or University Level, differs from Adult Education. Adult education is introduced to make those people literate who could not continue study during young age, due to any reason, but now they are eager to at least read, write and speak. There was no any arrangement of adult education in the world before. At first, it was introduced in England. In Pakistan adult education was introduced in Karachi by a Social Organization. Now the importance of adult education is realised in the country and many adult education centres are established in big towns and cities. The main aims and objects of adult education is to make the illiterate persons able to read and write. Being the majority of our country is very poor, they cannot afford education expenses of their children, so the graph of illiteracy increased in Pakistan. Now the government is also taking part in “Adult Education” to drive out illiteracy from the country. It is hoped that if the government and institutions, based on this purpose, take more interest, it is sure that the majority of our country would be the fruitful citizen.

FEMALE EDUCATION OR STATUS OF WOMEN IN ISLAM

Education has converted the human being from savage life to civilized life. This is not only the right of man but women also have right to be educated, so that they also could take active part in making the nation strong. The world history proves that no any religion or nation gave legal right of equality among men and women. The women were treated as a maid-servant and they were badly treated by men. The same custom was common even in the civilized nations and religions. Even in Arab the baby childs were killed after their birth. During such doom age, the right of women was beyond imagination. Islam is the only religion which clearly announced about the equal right of men and women. Our Holy Prophet (S.A.W) insisted the Muslims to educate their sisters, daughter and wives. The example of Hazrat Ayesha (R.Z), who was a well educated lady. She was well versed in Arabic, Hikmat, Literature and Rules of Islam etc., Hazrat Rufaida (R.Z) was a famous nurse. There were so many other women who were well educated. Thus it proves that Islam invites woman to get education and strictly instructed the men to provide education facility to the women.

Being broad minded, if we think over the duties of a women, we see that she plays three important roles in her life. Firstly, she is a daughter, secondly, she is a wife and thirdly she is a mother. Being a daughter she learns to obey her parents, learns the knowledge for her future responsibilities as a wife and a mother. It is said that mother’s lap is the first institution of child. Whatsoever the mother teaches to the child in her lap, is the fundamental lesson which expands along with the age of the child. If a mother is not educated, she cannot make her child a great man, but an educated mother teachers her child in better way and guides in every sphere of life, till he or she is not able to stand on his or her feet. In the light of the facts, female educated is very essential to make the nation qualified, disciplined, united and strong.

LIFE IN KARACHI

Karachi is the biggest city of Pakistan. It was the first capital of Pakistan Before 1947, it was a small city with les population. The city was clean. Peaceful and less crowded. The city was important for the only sea port of Pakistan. After Pakistan came into being, the population increased abruptly and now a days the population has reached about ten millions. Many factors, different industries and business increased and the city attracted the labours, business men, capitalists and others towards her. As a result a vast vacant surrounding area of the city became densely populated, without any pre-arrangement of provision of fundamental needs. So, naturally the problems of transport, sewerage, roads, water, electric and gass supply etc, arised and the life of Karachi became pitiable. Being the city densely and expensive, every body work like a machine and they have no time to meet with each other. Every one seems to be selfish. The transport problem is so worse that the passengers are compelled to wait for hourse. The roads are very congested and the traffic runs very roughly which causes accidents and loss of earning hands. Being the city expanded without plan, many problems arises. Though the government is trying her best to solve these problems, but all the problems cannot be solved in a day and without the co-operation of the citizen. Though the city is the centre of problems, but it is also the heart of the country. Karachi is called Mini-Pakistan, because the people of all the provinces live here with the zeal of brotherhood and co operation. The city has also many attractions, such as Karachi Port, Bin Qasim Port, International Air Port, Sandspit, Hawks Bay, the highest building Habib Plaza, Manora etc., which attract the foreigners.

HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION Since before the summer vacation, my elder brother, who has been serving in Lahore, advised me to pass my summer vacation with them. I also was much eager to visit Lahore, because of, I have heard about and watched in the T.V, many attractive places and scenes of Lahore.

On the next day of summer vacation, I started for Lahore with my younger brother. My elder brother and his family were present to receive us at Lahore Railway Station. All of us became very much glad to see each other. My brother informed that he had taken one week leave for me, so that he could show me the Lahore city.

After breakfast, we started visiting Lahore city. He hired a Tonga and first of all we reached the famous Jama Masjid of Lahore. The mosque is very beautiful to look and comfortable space for the prayers. After that we visited the tomb of the great philosopher and the poet of the East, Allama Mohammad Iqbal. We offered “Fateha” and after that we went to see the “Minar-e-Pakistan”. The minar is very attractive and constructed in the heart of Iqbal Park. We went upto the top of minar. The whole city was before our eyes which was looking very attractive. After entertaining the views, we came down and walked in the “Anarkali Market”. My sister-in-Law invited to drink to drink Lessi from the famous Lassi shop of Lahore. After that we returned home and set up the next day programme. On one Friday we visited the shrine of the famous saint “Data Ganj Bux”. There was a rush of men, women and children and they were offering Fateha. We also offered Fateha and walked around. I was too much impressed to visit the shrine and read the poem of Khawja Moinuddin Chishti. Lahore is a historical city also, so we decided to see the historical places. The next we visited the Shalimar Garden, Tomb of Jahangir, Noor Jahan and Lahore Fort. All these buildings and gardens were reminding us the regime of Mughal Emperors, who ruled in the country and left their glorious sings. Thus we visited the whole city of Lahore in a week and saw General Post Office, High Court, Government House and other important and unique buildings and residential areas. I and my younger brother were very glad to see the Lahore city and became very impressed to see the hospitality of “Zinda Dilaan-e-Lahore”. I cannot forget the visit in my life and I think that this year, I passed my summer vacation in very happy mood.

TELEVISION ---- ITS USES AND ABUSE Science and

technology have brought many changes in the world. It invented many peculiar things which never could be though about only 100 year before. When radio awas introduced, it was thought that human being has got wonderful knowledge and technology which made the world smaller than before. One can know every important news of the world smaller than before. Once can know every important news of the world after only making the switch of the radio “On”. But Television is called the wonder of science. Radio is the audible source while T.V. is visible and audible as well. The inventor of T.V. was a German Scientist ----- Paul Nephew.

Television is a source of broadcasting news of the world and countries with pictorial

communication. It is also a source of amusements, inter views, speeches of political leaders and religious scholars, market and weather reports, drams, films, music and other commentaries.

Everything in the world has its two faces, one brings fruitful result while the other

brings bad result. In the same way T.V. also has its good and bad effects. For instance, Television presents different educational programmers according to the

educational course of schools and colleges. In Pakistan, Allama Iqbal University Course programmers are also presented. It also presents short drama based on children characters. Such other programmers also are presented by T.V. If the students take interest in them, they can learn many things theoretically and practically.

On the other hand, it has some abuses also such as T.V. rays has very bad effect for

those who see with less distance. The rays effect the eyes badly. Different dramas, music and other programmers have many defects. Such

programmers are mainly attractive for the students. They waste their precious time in seeing such programmers and their time of study is spoilt. If we deeply think over the reasons of low graph of education in our country, we shall come to the conclusion that T.V. is also an abuse for those students who are very interested in T.V. programmers, specially drama, music and film etc.

Therefore, as a nation on they, we must think over the abuses of T.V. and we should

try to discourage the students specially, in taking interest in T.V. programmers.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Now a days science and technology has so much developed and become so popular in the world that technology is proved as a main source of development of country. Without utilizing new technology which introduced and adopted by the developed countries, a developing country cannot reach upto the level of developed countries.

Japan is a country which was defeated and destroyed by the Western countries, but

within a short period Japan became technically expert and began to produce many articles

related to modern science and technology, and as a result Japan is recognized as one of the top countries in modern technology.

Pakistan is a developing country. It has essential need of having technical knowledge, so that industries and different technologies may develop here. In the present world, no country can develop without technology and science, so we should take help form the developed countries to train our people in technical fields and the young people should be invited to take interest in technology.

Though, the government is taking interest in the technology and many young people

are either engaged in this job or taking training of modern technology. But that must not be our target, we should think to go more ahead in technical field.

It is necessary to mention one of the reasons of our backwardness in technology, that

we spoil the precious age of our young generation in having education upto S.S.C. or H.S.C. level. Without having these certificates they cannot go ahead. But for instance, in Japan we see that the technical hand young generation are allowed to have technical training, without any binding. So they become fully trained in technical field at the age when our young boys pass the secondary examination and think about future step.

For the better future of our country and the young generation, we must change our

education policy and should allow the interested people without binding of age, except teen age, to have technical education with much eagerness and interest. The government should encourage those students and a handsome stipend should be paid to them, so that young boys may get attraction in this job.

PROBLEMS OF UNEMPLOYMENT IN PAKISTAN

Unemployment is a curse for a country. It creates a lot of economical, social and

political problems. Unemployment begets many evils in the country and the government is compelled to face these serious problems, begetted by unemployment, and the evil of unemployment increases day by day.

Unemployment is common in all branches. The educated, illiterate, farmers, skilled and

unskilled are suffering from this serious problem. It is very essential to take immediate step to sweep out unemployment from Pakistan.

When we think over the reasons of this serious problem, we come to the conclusion

that: i) The population of our country is growing at the rate of 3.5 percent per year.

ii) The population is increasing teometrically but the production is increasing arithmetically and the demand is not fulfilled on equivalent method.

iii) Industries are not developing to the demand of the population.

iv) Cultivation is done on the old process and uncultivated lands are un-attended, due to slackness or lack of facilities.

v) There is lack of modern technology in our country, so we cannot produce export items and export the raw materials to other countries.

vi) The peculiar old style of education is still continuing in our country. No change is brought it to meet the present demand. Now the world is changed and those countries who have adopted science and technology in all the fields, have solved the problems of unemployment and poverty. But the education plan makers in our country do not dare to change the education policy according to the present demand.

So, we individually and the government should adopt the policy of discourging the increase of population. Scientific procedure of cultivation should be adopted and unattended lands should be cultivated. Industry is the backbone of a country in present days, so we should make our young generation skilled in modern technology and the capitalists should be invited to establish new industries. The last and most important factor to solve unemployment, is to overhaul the procedure of education policy and to make it according to the present need of education. Thus, our country can be able to solve the unemployment problem.

DUTIES OF A STUDENT OR AN IDEAL STUDENT

A student is a good hope, directly or indirectly, for parents and the nation. Students are the fate maker of the parents and nation. Every popular and famous hero of the world was a student. The period of studentship is very important. It is the time for the students to make their fate by hard labour and avoiding unvaluable interest. An ideal student always prefer study and he/she spends his/her time in reading, learning and willing to have knowledge. He/she always seeks guidance of teachers and tries to get more and more knowledge. Such student is always punctual in his/her class and never feels shame in asking any question which he could not follow. He/she never leaves any question unsolved and remains busy in solving such typical questions. Such students are ideal, dutiful and he/she invites the other students to adopt such practice, so that they also become fruitful for the nation and country.

HOW I CELEBRATED THE REPUBLIC DAY OR

LAHORE RESOLUTION DAY OR PAKISTAN RESOLUTION DAY

Every year on 23rd March, we celebrate Pakistan Resolution Day. This date is very important for the Muslims of the sub-continent, when the Muslims of the sub-continent demanded a separate state for the Muslims in India. On the date all the Muslim leaders assembled at Lahore and unanimously pass the resolution for a separate Muslim state in India. That date has historical importance for the Muslims, so we celebrate this day very enthusiastically. This year we also celebrated the day in our school/college. At 7.30A.M. we reached our school/college. The Principal hoisted flag on the play ground and we sang national anthem in chorus. After that the Principal addressed the student and threw light on the facts and importance of the day. The programmer ended with distribution of sweet meats among the students. The Sport Incharge announced that a bus is hired for those students who are willing to go to the Mazar-e-Quaid-e-Azam. We happily got into the bus and reached there. The guards offered salute. They went in the Mazar and offered Fateha. We also offered Fatheha and came out of the Mazar. The whole area of the Mazar was filled with the visitors. It was very arrtractive scene and a proof of the fact that we are still thankful for the leaders who fought against Hindus and the British Empire and achieved the goal in the shape of Pakistan. On this date we also promised to be loyal to the state and nation and also promised to be loyal to the state and nation and also promised to shed our last drop of blood for the safety of the mother land. At afternoon, we assembled in the playground, where different show games and matches were played. The principal himself was present there. At the end of the game, the Principal praised and encouraged the players. When we were going back from the ground, we saw that the important buildings were dressed like a bride. Every where different colour of bulbs were presently attractive scene. The markets and roads were filled with young and old men and women. At about 9.00 P.M. we returned our homes.

FLOOD IN PAKISTAN

Pakistan is situated in the monsoonic area where heavy rain falls in rainy season, which causes flood in the rivers. The river water over flows due to heavy rain and it spread around the low lying areas. The flood damages crops, uproots the tree, drown animals and houses of poor farmers. The roads and means of communications are destroyed from flow of heavy current. They railway lines which are near the flood effected area, are also damaged and train communications are also badly effected. When we think over the losses caused by flood, we are right to say that flood is a curse for human being which causes loss of crops animals, houses, roads, railway lines and even loss of precious lives. On the other hand flood is also a boon. Flood water brings fresh soil with it and spread on the land which makes the land more fertile. Flood water also sweeps all the nastiness and drops them into the sea. However, it is a fact that flood is not beneficial in comparision with its curses. So the government should take suitable step to save the low-lying irrigated land and the people living there. It is the duty of the citizen to help the flood effected with zeal and selfless effection.

SCIENCE – CURSE OR A BLESSING

In the, dark ages, men lived in caves and used to dress. Themselves with the skin of animals. Their world was full of difficulties and dangers. But time changes and now modern men live in comfortable houses. The science has made their life easy and comfortable but on the other hand it has also created instruments of death that give much power to man. First, we will consider the positive aspects of science on humanity, Science has invented machines and discovered energies which are helpful to operate them, Now machines do most of man’s work. Computer, motor vehicles, ships and aeroplanes provide leisure to man. Through these inventions the distance has been annihilated. Man has reached the moon and interplanetary travel is now a certainty. Difficult surgical operations have become a routine in the field of medicines. Many diseases like small pox, cholera, polio and plague etc. are fully controlled and our lives have become healthier.

Science has made our social life very rich. Cinema, radio and television give relief from sorrows and load of work. The production of crops and production in industries has also increased. Our daily life has been revolutionized, the use of iron, stoves washing machines and telephone have increased comfort and easiness in our daily life. In other words we say that the progress of science are amazing.

Thas science undoubtedly has made valuable contribution for the development progress of mankind. But on the other hand it has also produced weapon for this destruction. The same machines which are used for betterment of man, like motor vehicles, tanks and armed cars are used to kill him. It we about ships and aeroplans which are used to cover long distances. They also have versions of air craft carrier, ships and atomic sub marines. Fighter planes can destroy a city or town within a few minutes. Scientific developments have out-stripped our moral or spiritual progress. The man has become selfish and cruel. In fact science has been misused by the politician and not by the scientists. We can conclude that it if is in right hands then it serves as a blessing otherwise science can make our lives miserable.

THE COMPUTERS OR

THE GREATEST INVENTION OF 20TH CENTURY

Necessity is the mother of invention. The saying holds true for computers also because computers were invented as a result of man’s search for fast – and accurate calculating devices. Charles Babbage, a nineteenth century professor at Cambridge University, is considered to be the father of modern digital computers. Computer is an electronic machine which is used for many purpose. It performs logical operations on inputs and brings forth accurate answers. According to size they can be distribution in many categories. (i) Super Computers, (ii) Main Frame Computers (iii) Mini Computer and (iv) Micro Computer. Their prices very from billion of rupees down to a few thousands of rupees. Computer can further be classified into monotypes, which are (i) Digital (ii) Analog (iii) Hybird. Now day computer is used in government offices, banks educational institutions, hospitals and many other organizations computers are used mainly for the purpose of storage of facts and records. It is possible to talk to anyone – in any part of the world. Students can study in any university of the world while sitting in their home. All of these are great wonders of computer. The history of computer can be divided into different generations. We are now living in the fourth generation of computers. The fifth generation is yet to come. A coinmon perception is that it will start with the creation and use of articial intelligence. The future remains to be unseen, but one can give his own ideas or innovations.

THE TELEVISION ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

Television is one of the great invention of science. The word television is composed of ‘Tele’ and ‘Vision’ which means to see from a distance. It has reduced the distance like radio but it also shows us the pictures of the people of the people speaking. It has also solved many social and cultural problems, In the beginning only picture could be seen on its screen, but technology changed and voice singnals were also transmitted to the viewers.

People enjoy themselves with a variety of programmes. Music, drams, sports, movies, talk shows and many other programmes give a great pleasure to mankind. It is also playing an important role in the field of education. Many programmme on. Topics of Physics, Chemistry and other subjects are centres of attraction for college and university. These are special, programmes for children education. The news from all over the world kee us informed about the events happening in their countries.

Although television has given us a lot of advantages and facilities but we should be aware of its disadvantages too. Children begin to neglect their studies and keep all time busy watching programmes. Some pictures and movies show daring crimes and robberies on the screen. These films corrupts the mind of young men and women. Some advertisements are highly immoral. These advertisements are more harmful than the movies themselves.

In our country Pakistan, this problem should be taken seriously. We should use television and its telecasts for educative purposes, and our recreations too should be in accordance with our tradition.

DEFECTS IN OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM

There has been general dissatisfaction against the prevalent system of education in Pakistan. It is the system devised by the British orient alists. It is not practically applicable in the twenty first centway. The present system can only produce clerks. We should get rid of this system as early as possible.

The course has not been revised from decades and most of the subjects prove useless. The information’s provided in these books are because not steps were taken to even update the material, one can easily pass the examination only by preparing for 10 to 15 days. Therefore the system of examination, too is largely defective. Instead of semester system, they satisfy to have annual exam taken at the end of academic year, to test the memory of students instead of their knowledge.

English is an international language and in our country it is very important to know English. The professional education is given in English, whereas these subjects can be learn quickly and easily in one’s own mother tongue, European countries and Japan are great examples of this case. The-system of education in our country is not up to date. The educational institutions are in a very deploralde codition, where unqualified and inexperienced teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of teaching the immature brains of their students.

In Pakistan there are two types of education system one is for rich people and the other is for poors. The first one is very expensive, only a few aristecratescan afford to have the benefits of this education. This system meets all standards of good education system. The second one can just only produce clerks in an economically backward country like Pakistan education should be cheap so that every one could reap its benefits.

Pakistan is really in need of a new educational system which can produce good and light level efficient workers.
