Parents/Guardians:
I hope everyone was able to have a relaxing Spring Break. We are
coming close to the end of the year.
Students in grades 3-6 will begin taking Part 2 of the ISTEP+ as-
sessment beginning this week. This portion of the test will be done
on iPads. Woodlan Elementary will test first thing in the morning
and in the afternoon on some of the days. It is very important that
your child gets plenty of rest and is at school on time. Please avoid
scheduling any appointments during the ISTEP+ window as there
is very little time to complete make-up tests for those students that
are absent. When talking to your students about ISTEP+, just
please encourage them to do their best. Thank you in advance for
your flexibility.
Our Kindergarent-2nd graders are also in the process of taking their
DIBELS and TRC assessments.
Mark your calendars for May 12th. That is our annual Carnival
sponsored by the Woodlan PTO. It’s always a great night of fun and
games and great food. If you are interested in volunteering in any
way, please contact any of the PTO members.
I would like to remind morning car rider parents to please pull up
when dropping off your student to allow for more cars to drop off
at one time and to avoiding backing up the line. I would also like to
remind parents that sometimes, some of our students may need
some assistance or a little more time when exiting their vehicles.
Please be patient and DO NOT pull out of the line to drive around.
There could potentially be an accident.
We will have Kindergarten Orientation for all of those students that
will be starting Kindergarten next year. Orientation will be on
Thursday, April 27th, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. There will be a short
presentation from the Kindergarten teachers and a tour of the build-
ing.

those with heart disease. The students also learned more about how to
keep their own heart healthy, and mastered many more jump rope skills
in PE class. Upper classes also had a day of Basketball to finish up the
unit. Ms. Dawes would like to thank the parents and community for
their generosity and support for our students and those less fortunate.

Hello Warrior Families,
Time just flies when you’re having fun!
The month of April has just flown. There are several
family fun activities this month. So, keep an eye out for flyers
or check out our Facebook page for all the latest information.
April is also the time of planning for the PTO. We have May’s
Spring Carnival and we need to look into next year.
The PTO would like to thank all the venders that came
out to our Art and Craft Show on March 25th. We could not
have held the event without them. We got a lot of positive
responses from both the venders and people within the
community on how they felt it went. So we are hoping with
some changes, next year will be even better.
The PTO has begun the Spring Carnival planning. A
meeting was held on April 10th to discuss a few changes and
progress. Please consider volunteering some time during our
event. It takes up to 40 volunteers to hold this event. Look for
fliers or contact us at [email protected].
A look ahead:
May 1st-5th is Teacher Appreciation week. We want to
encourage everyone to remember what our Woodlan staff does
for our students. They deliver so much to our students -
inspiration, motivation, and ultimately their futures. So please,
take a minute to celebrate teachers and deliver our thanks and
gratitude to them. *The PTO has several things planned, if you
are available to help write thankyous, cut shapes, or assemble
gifts please contact us on our Facebook page, Woodlan PTO, or
Help Wanted:
The PTO has several board and support positions open. They
are part time, rewarding, and come with super flexible hour.
Excellent opportunity to meet new friends, be part of a great
team, and have a lot of laughs. No experience required. Contact
us through Facebook or email.

Woodlan Cafeteria/Lunchroom Reminders: If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child’s account, please call Darlene Hamilton, cafeteria manager, 446-0290, ext. 7411. You
may also view your child’s lunch activity via Parent Access on the EACS website .
Parents and other visitors of students—we welcome you to eat breakfast or lunch with your child at anytime, but we need to know if you are com-ing ahead of time to plan accordingly. Please do so by calling in before 9:00 a.m. or send a note with your child. We also ask that you sign in and wear a Visitor’s badge. Adult lunches are $2.40. As we are cashless system, we ask that you bring correct change for your lunch. You may use your child’s lunch account to purchase your lunch. If you do not have correct change, we can deposit the rest of your money into your child’s lunch account .
Minimum deposits are $10.00 for each full pay student, $2.00 for a reduced student. If your child would like to purchase extras you need to deposit money for that also. If your child doesn’t have enough money in their account we can drop the amount in the minus figure. The system only allows us to drop the child’s account down to (-$5.00) After that we have to give them a Peanut Butter Jelly lunch. We appreciate your help in keeping your child’s account up to date. You can view their account online.
If your child is in K-3 please work with them at home to learn their student ID number to put into the system so our lines can run smoother.
If you are having issues with your child’s lunch account being depleted too quickly, please check your Parent Access for what your child is choos-ing. You may opt to limit their purchases of ala cart items, please just send in a note with your preference or call.
NO breakfast will be served on 2 or 3 hour delay days.
