A Message from Mr Hieke on behalf of Mr Cridland… It’s hard to believe Week 7 is over already!
The library roof is finished and the painting is nearly done. After that the
downpipes need to be put back on. Hopefully it will all be finished in time for
our end of year events. Unfortunately, it will open just in time for everybody to
return outstanding library books ready for the holidays. I will send out over-
due notices next week reminding students of their outstanding books that can
be handed in to me as soon as possible.
A big thankyou goes out to AAA Down Under for their work on straightening
the pillar on the memorial gates and also to Troy Christian for the fantastic job
he did, welding on a new pivot pin. For the first time in a long time, the front
gate not only closes properly but moves freely without scraping on the
concrete! Thanks Troy!
On the topic of closing gates, all of our gates have new signs to remind users
to close them. Please do, so we can keep the school free of stray dogs and
safer for our students.
Speaking of student safety, I would like to thank all of those parents that have
been taking note of the new parking signs and keeping our drop-off zone
clear. However, some of our parents need a polite reminder. The turning bay
is a No Parking zone and that includes the centre section where some parents
have been continuing to park. Parents dropping off their kids in the turning
bay are allowed to stop for up to 2 minutes and get out of the car to help their
kids; however, the driver must remain with their vehicle and move on as soon
as the kids are safely inside the gate. Parents dropping kids off at OOSH or
needing to visit the office should find a place to park in the appropriate parking
zones in order to keep the turning bay clear and avoid a fine. We realise
parking has been difficult with all of the work trucks near the library and
appreciate your patience.
Well done to Mrs Smith for organising the K-2 Sydney Sixers Mascot
Challenge. The K-2 kids and teachers had fun with the challenge and the
kids really enjoyed the Sydney Sixers visit this week.
A thankyou also goes out to Mel Hepplewhite for entering our front gate into
the Jets competition some time ago and to Miss Magill for organising the Jets
visit this week. Yesterday, the Jets ran our soccer enthusiasts through
their paces and the kids had a great time.
Have an awesome weekend!
Mr H.
