What Is Import??

The term import is derived from the conceptual meaning as to bring in the goods and services into the port of a country.

The buyer of such goods and services is referred to an "importer"

4.Application For Grant of import license for certain categories

An application for grant of an Authorisation for import of items mentioned as ‘Restricted’ in ITC (HS) may be made to RA, with a copy to DGFT Hqrs in ANF 2M along with documents prescribed therein.

Original application along with Treasury Receipt (TR) / Demand Draft shall be submitted to RA concerned and self-attested copy of same shall be submitted to DGFT in duplicate along with proof of submission of application to concerned RA.

5.Territorial Jurisdiction of import licensing Authorities

Territorial jurisdiction is the court's power to bind the parties to the action. This law determines the scope of federal and state court power

Every application, unless otherwise specified, shall be submitted to the licensing authority concerned, as per the territorial jurisdiction of the licensing authorities indicated in Appendix-27.

6.Licensing Period, Conditions And Validity Of Import License

Import licensing period for import a goods its differ for every goods under differ Authorities rustication.

There are also differ time period for the deemed and exempted products of import.

Conditions of Licensing Period

Where an Authorisation expires during the month, such Authorization shall be deemed to be valid until last day of concerned month.

This provision would be applicable even for a revalidated Authorization.

Validity of an import Authorization is decided with reference to date of shipment / dispatch of goods from supplying country as given in Paragraph 9.11 A of HBP v1 and not the date of arrival of goods at an Indian port. 9

Provisions shall not be applicable to DEPB, Service Providers under SFIS, VKGUY and duty credit scrip's issued under FMS and FPS, which are duty credit entitlements and must be valid on date on which actual debit of duty is made.
