INTRODUCTION

1. Established on 7th march 1975 with two buses plying from Khonsa to Naharkatia.

2. First GM was Lt. Col. R.N.Chopra. 3. 15 numbers of stations and 12 numbers of

sub-station.4. 230 numbers of buses are working within

Arunachal pradesh.

SPECIAL SERVICES

• Concessional services to the office goers and students on 20%/60% basis. They are issued bus cards for this special service. For example- staffs of A.P. Secreteriat and students of Kendriya Vidyalaya(s) also avail this special service.

• The physically handicap people and freedom fighters are allowed to travel free of cost as per government policy.

• APST is the backbone of postal facility for Arunachal Pradesh as it also carries postal bags.

• Computerised Passengers Reservation System is set at Head Office of APST at Naharlagun for Railway Ticket Booking.

• There are three railways out agencies operating at Bomdila, Tawang and Along for easy Railway Ticket Booking.

WHAT IS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY?

• Information Technology is defined as processing and distribution of data using computer hardware and software, telecommunications, and digital electronics.

PRESENT SCENARIO OF IT IN APST

• There are not much computers present in APST head office.

• The computers present in APST office are mainly used for typing and printing official documents.

• There is no LAN connectivity within the office of APST.

• Internet is not accessed in APST offices. • Computers are being used only by the

Accounts section in small scale. • Sometimes the department also provides

computer training to group B and C levels of staff.

IMPLEMENTATION OF IT IN APST

• As IT has not been introduced in APST, if introduced, it will be very beneficial for the organisation.

• The introduction of website, e-booking facility etc will lead to easy accessibility of relevant information about the services of APST.
