THE REALITY OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
This evil did not appear overnight. It is a result of leaving many things undone and many issues unresolved for the vulnerable in our world and in our own communities.
Like you, we want to eradicate what should not exist in our world today. In our lifetime, we want to see the end of human trafficking and prevent it from happening in the first place. But how do we begin?
WHAT MUST BE DONE?
WHO MUST BE ENGAGED?
We began this journey by asking the following questions
Human trafficking. The very phrase seems incomprehensible & yet the sale of souls in our world today is a reality that is as widespread as it is horrifying.
Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery for purposes of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, or organ trafficking.
It is a complex & pervasive evil, and it is happening everywhere — all around the world & within our own communities.
HOW DO WE END IT?
We have every one of us a work to accomplish...if we perservere indeed, success is certain; but our efforts must know no remission.- William Wilberforce

To answer this question, we first researched thousands of efforts. And then, we built thousands of relationships with those serving in the field - across sectors - to discover what was being done, what was working well, and where the challenges still existed. Next, we developed a comprehensive strategy that would provide a framework to both assess the strengths of existing efforts and to analyze the gaps.
So, what all must be done? The AFRJ Freedom Strategy has been distilled from years of research and countless conversations with those in the field. It is built to scale from local community efforts to the entire global movement.
This strategy defines the areas of focus that must be addressed simultaneously. If communities are strong in one area, but lacking in another, gaps will be present that will allow trafficking to continue. For instance, if we are rescuing victims without having restoration resources available, then survivors may become victims again. If we are strong in identifying trafficking situations, but our laws are in need of reforms regarding both victims and perpetrators, we have work yet to do. If we are not focused on preventing human trafficking in the first place, vulnerable individuals will continue to be exploited.

The short answer is:
EVERYONE (And we mean it.)
WHO MUST BE ENGAGED?
Awareness of the scope of this evil has come to the attention of many. Thousands of efforts have been launched to combat it. And yet human trafficking still exists…and it is growing.
We believe there are two great challenges that are creating barriers to success in combating human trafficking and addressing the issues that lead to its existence:
The AFRJ was launched to provide solutions to these two challenges.
Those already working in the field often do not know
each other
Those who become aware of this issue do not know
how to engage
Q2CHIEF CHALLENGES
Challenge #1 Challenge #2
It is our firm belief that each and every one of us are uniquely positioned to combat human trafficking in strategic ways. We just need to understand WHAT needs to be done and HOW our interests and abilities can be leveraged to meet those needs.
Whether we represent a church, corporation, foundation, government, non-profit, professional association, task force or coalition, university, or simply ourselves, there is much that we each have to offer.

The AFRJ exists to SUPPORT those engaged in combating human trafficking
and protecting the vulnerable...
...to DEVELOP the relationships, resources, solutions, and strategies needed
to fill existing gaps...
...and to MOBILIZE a global collaborative network to engage together on behalf of those in need.
MISSION & VISION
The Alliance for Freedom, Restoration, and Justice, Inc.® is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
We support both local and global efforts and are dedicated to combating human trafficking as well as addressing those issues that lead to its existence.
We firmly believe that strategic, collaborative engagement across sectors is the key to success in eradicating the evil of trafficking — in the life of an individual, within a single community,
and throughout the world.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE AFRJ
We will not win the war against human trafficking if we do not acknowledge that it exists as a result of much that is broken in our society today. The AFRJ therefore supports three separate yet connected campaigns that address:
What is Engage Together®?
We firmly believe that strategic, collaborative engagement across sectors is the key to success. Therefore, EngageTogether® is the lens through which we implement all our strategies and initiatives. It is our rally cry to the world and the banner over all we do.
Engage Together® Initiatives
The AFRJ operates five EngageTogether® initiatives — our solution-set to the two chief challenges explained on page 7. They have been designed to mobilize a global collaborative effort to engage together on behalf of those in need.

The ENGAGE TOGETHER® virtual community of justice advocates strategically matches like-minded organizations and individuals for collaborative engagement and exponential impact on behalf of those in need.
Individual’s interests and abilities are matched with organizations serving in the field so that they can strategically engage in this effort with vetted organizations — locally and globally.
Member organizations are given access to a robust series of tools to enhance their existing efforts and to develop a broader collaborative network.
In collaboration with the creators of SynergyScape, we have developed this first-of-its-kind platform to support and
mobilize a global collaborative effort.

The AFRJ serves as a hub for strategic partnership engagement. Our Global
Network team is available to assist our network in their
efforts to build collaborative relationships, develop
strategies, or find needed resources. We are daily
assisting justice advocates throughout the nation and
around the world in this way — virtually and onsite.
BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS IS THEHEARTBEAT OF ALL THAT WE DO
By understanding who is doing what and where and how and how well and with whom, we are able to fill gaps, share promising practices, build strategic partnerships, and develop innovative solutions.
BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS
In partnership with global corporations, faith-based service providers, and freedom businesses, we are developing career paths and reintegration opportunities for survivors of human trafficking.
BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS & TECHNOLOGYIn our world today, technology is one of the fastest growing avenues to exploit the vulnerable. Children are daily lured by predators, human beings are sold, and by using the internet and other virtual means, perpetrators are able to commit crimes on a greater scale than ever before.
At the AFRJ, we are passionately committed to leveraging technology in defense of the oppressed and vulnerable. We operate a host of cutting-edge technologies to build partnerships, mobilize our network, and combat these evils.

In collaboration with federal, state, and community efforts, we are building out the frameworks for robust and long-term victim advocates programs for every demographic — adults, minors, domestic, and foreign national victims of trafficking.
To manage thousands of relationships, efforts, and data, we operate a custom-configured analytics engine, developed for us pro-bono by global IT companies Bluewolf, Deloitte, and Salesforce.

By strategically bringing together those that may not know each other yet, individual expertise and resources are collectively leveraged for greater impact.
Engage Together® Conferences provide specific sectors of leadership with opportunities to: connect and collaborate with experts in the field; gain valuable strategies and resources to create new or enhance existing efforts; and discover how they can be mobilized in their local communities and beyond.
The Restoration Summit, hosted at WinShape Retreat, brought together innovators in foster care reform from across the nation to collaborate around innovative solutions and strategies to reform our systems and better care for children in need.
We assisted the Senate of Mexico in developing and hosting their forum concerning the nation’s new anti-trafficking law by securing participation from both government and NGO United States experts, and presenting our comprehensive strategies.
In a number of states, we are helping to develop and launch stronger, more strategic Community Coalitions to combat human trafficking and protect the vulnerable, alongside state governments, agencies, law enforcement, and faith-based and nonprofit leaders.
To fill gaps that may arise for our Global Network and their efforts, undesignated support to the AFRJ is placed into a fund to provide financial assistance when needed.
Orphan Secure’s training of int’l law enforcement to better combat human trafficking in the Philippines.
Wellspring Living’s launch of an academy to provide educational and vocational opportunities for survivors in Atlanta.
RestoreNYC’s restoration services for foreign national victims in New York City.
Restoration Ministries’ mental health programs for survivors in DC.
iEmpathize’s launch of their curriculum to empower youth across the nation to become neither victims nor perpetrators of these crimes.
The AFRJ often provides assistance in the development of collaborative, partnership building gatherings and events. The AFRJ also provides financial assistance, though our methodology will always be to first maximize a strategy of shared resources among our network base and then to fill in the gaps with financial support when possible.

GOING GLOBAL
20 21 www.engagetogether.com
The AFRJ supports the strategic deployment of
both budding and current professionals from a broad
spectrum of disciplines to serve on behalf of our
network around the globe.
We presently limit Official Membership as an AFRJ Partner or Engage Together® Coalition Member to those vetted organizations serving within the United States, or serving globally with a registered office within the United States. Therefore, our present strategy for going global is to:
By mobilizing students and professionals alike to serve alongside excellent organizations in the field, greater impact is achieved for all.
We are developing a pro-bono legal network of every firm, association, law school, or individual attorney desiring to provide legal assistance to aid in the complexities or legal barriers that often arise for survivors and those serving them.
The phases of this project include:
• Building the network
• Cataloging each participants’ commitment to specific legal issues, demographics, and geographic scope
• Launching a reference portal to bridge our partners’ needs and the right attorneys for the job
• Publishing a manual that will cover the legal issues that survivors and service-providers will likely face within the first 18-24 months post-rescue
DEPLOYMENT
In 2015, we: served as an advisor to the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, helped to support the development of the Freedom Business Alliance, bridged needed relationships and resources for international NGOs, and traveled internationally to serve alongside partners in the field.IN
