    IMPACT OF IT ON INDIAN SOCITY

    The Indian Information Technology industry contributes for a 5.9% of the country's GDP and

    export earnings as of 2009 and providing large number of employment. More than 2.3

    million people are employed in the sector directly or indirectly, making IT sector as one of

    the biggest job providers in India and important for national economy. In March 2009, annual

    revenues from outsourcing in India are US$60 billion and expected to increase to US$225

    billion by 2020.Importanat IT hub of India is IT capital Bangalore.

    Indian govt. firstly use IT in 1992 by using Gateway Electronic Mail Services, the 64 Kbit/s

    leased line service, first time election result was declared by National Informatics Centre's

    NICNET, which change the traditional way election procedure. Between 1993- 2000 national

    economy will increase by 6 % which is only possible due to globalization and frequently use

    of internet. The New Telecommunications Policy, 1999 (NTP 1999) helped further

    modification of Indias telecommunications sector. The Information Technology Act 2000

    created legal procedures for electronic transactions and e-commerce.

    Information technology which has change entire business world has also play measure role in

    foundation of Indian society. Few areas where IT can provide development are as follows:

    Democracy: Democratic sectors like government, elected representatives, political parties,

    citizens and voters can use the information and communication technology within the

    political process of local communities, states, regions, and nation and on global stage. Ex. E-

    voting, E- citizen.

    Governance: Irrespective of rural or urban area, distance will be shortened using information

    technology due to electronic connectivity should emerge between the various State and

    Central Government departments for transparent administration. A networked database help

    to collect information from anywhere Transparency will have to emerge in governance. Ex.

    online consultation.

    Disaster management: Through the application of information technology we collect

    information related to different natural imbalance like drought, flood, landslides etc.

    Education:The education system will become very advance with a vision of PC at every

    home, books will be largely replaced by soft-books at school level. Teachers in the villages

    can easily interact with cities and learn from each others experiences.

    Medical and health:Medical Informatics is key word in the health and medical. It is

    managing medical and health care through information science and technology. MI deals

    with the entire procedure of medicine and health care, from computer-based patient records to

    image processing and from primary care practices to hospitals and regions of health care.
