Maplewood Baptist Church
MBC January 2015 Volume 23, No. 1
Rev. Jimmy Lancaster, Pastor
Observance of the Lord’s Supper This Sunday (Jan 4th), we will take the opportunity to be
reminded of Christ’s LOVE and GRACE through the
observance of the Lord’s Supper. Let’s start the “NEW YEAR”
with a renewed desire to reflect His likeness and character & to
serve Him together in 2015!
Inspired by true events… “Life Changes Everything” begins outside an abortion clinic in 1978. Madeline
Ryan is 19 years old, tender-eyed, confused and about 12 weeks pregnant. Her boyfriend, Eric, 23 - is a
career-minded student on his way to graduate school. They talk together in the clinic as they wait to be
seen. Madeline is hesitant, but Eric is determined to get this done today.
In the midst of conversation, Eric makes the statement, “Having a baby will change everything!” A doctor
enters and asks Madeline if she is ready...if she really wants to go through with this. The room is silent and
all we hear...is a HEARTBEAT!
Flash forward to PRESENT DAY: Zac Ryan is a clinical oncologist searching for a cure, when he
discovers his trial patient is his biological father.
Invite your co-workers, friends, classmates as we have the opportunity to premiere this powerful movie.
Corey Paul - the movie’s producer, Compassion Care Center & Serving Him Ministries will be our special
guest as we celebrate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday!!

New Year's Prayer
Lord, this year I want to change, and I've said that in the past. But now my prayer is different
'cause I understand at last.
I wanted my own way before, I ignored your loving plans.
But now I'm putting everything into your nail-scarred hands.
I promise to obey you out of gratitude and love. I won't be giving orders to my Father up above.
I finally realize the truth and so I've changed my prayer.
The safest place for me to be is in your gentle care.
Please be my shepherd, Jesus, that's all I ask of you.
In good times and in bad this year, Take my hand and lead me through.

Birthdays
The New Year lies before you, like a spotless track of snow . . . be careful how you tread on it,
for every mark will show.
Dear Maplewood Baptist Church, As the year 2014 comes to an end, I respectful-ly submit my resignation to Maplewood Baptist as your Minister of Music/Choir Director. My time at Maplewood has been a blessing to me as I worked with your congregation, youth, choir and staff. At this point in my life I have been led to downsize to one job and focus my efforts on the Winston Salem Forsyth County School System. This change will allow me to mentally and physically heal as I have had “many irons in the fire” for sometime. Also, this change will allow me to concentrate on my family as they are growing up and need my undivided attention. My last Sunday with my Maplewood family will be January 25, 2015. I will do everything within my power to make sure this transition is smooth. I have enjoyed serving you. Even though my employment ends, the friendships and relationships will continue in our lives.
Sincerely, Mark A. Pilson
