PERFORMANCE

Better hygiene & odour control Clothing textiles are prone to microbial growth due to the abundance of sweat and dead skin cells. This often results in bad odours. While insecticides and pesticides can easily kill microbes, they can also be harmful for people and the environment.

Devan has the solution: BI-OME®, our highly effective, non-harmful anti-microbial technology. BI-OME® keeps your clothes fresh, hygienic and reduces the smell caused by microbes.

Environmental-proof approachBI-OME® is a BPR covered and EPA registered solution that guarantees optimal freshness and hygiene for textiles. Devan yearly treats millions of pieces of clothing, socks, underwear for customers and retailers all over the world. Taking a different approach from other antimicrobials, BI-OME® works in three steps:

1. First, the microorganisms are attracted by the fabric coating2. Once in contact with the coating, the cell membrane

is punctured3. This deactivates the microorganism, preventing growth

and proliferation

Since BI-OME® can easily be combined with other functionalities in our product range, we also offer:

- BI-OME® Quickdry (with moisture management)- BI-OME® Stretch (with stretch recovery)- BI-OME® AV (our new anti-viral solution)

Comprehensive supportOur technical staff and agents help install BI-OME® processes in mills all over the world and provide the necessary logistics and training. As soon as production is up and running, our in-house labs make sure the product quality meets all required specifications.

Check out all our PCM thermoregulation technologiesTraditional PCM treatments often have a negative impact on fabric softness and breathability, and are often unable to adapt to the body at different temperature levels. Devan’s thermoregulation technologies keep fabric soft, dry and breathable, and instantly adapt to the body’s needs. The Devan PCM’s are unique in its kind: the patented reactive capsules attach to the fibre without the use of a binder.

At Devan, our thermoregulation solutions can be combined with the Bi-OME® Quick dry treatments, offering the wearer the ideal comfort at different temperatures, adapting to the needs of the moment.

The perfect climate for active people: cool, dry & breathableRunning, cycling, skiing, yoga, golf and motor sports or a pleasant walk through nature. You name it, we have a solution for creating the perfect “action climate”. The fabrics we wear can make or break an activity. That’s why at Devan, our engineers are constantly developing new thermoregulation technologies based on phase change materials (PCMs) or thermal conductivity.

Smart cooling technologyA revolutionary example is Tones of Cool. It’s a smart, heat-exchange technology we developed to create instant coolness where needed, while guaranteeing long-lasting comfort. Tones of Cool improves and accelerates thermal energy exchange between the body and the textile, where the redundant heat is then dissipated to instantly reduce the wearer’s temperature.

Protecting people & the environmentIn tents, sleeping bags or wherever apparel requires special attention to fire safety – Devan offers state-of-the art textile treatments. Although flame retardants help save lives, some traditional chemistries can pose significant risks for human health or the environment, either from the retardant product or treated article or from smoke during a fire. Through heavy investment in R&D, Devan has created a complete range of more environmentally friendly products for textile applications. For instance, Eco-flam® halogen-free flame retardants protect people and the environment from the hazards of both fire ignition and chemical substances.

But there’s more. To make sure our technology fits your specific needs, we also provide tailor-made solutions, laboratory facilities, personal assistance at industrial trials, and fire safety & chemical regulation support. Our flame retardants are also suitable for textiles used in the home (window decoration) and can really make a difference in aviation, trains or buses, where we meet the most demanding FR standards : ABD 0031 - EN45545/2 – UNECE R118 annex 6&8.

Keeping an eye on the futureDevan collaborates with the biggest players taking major roles in fire safety. Sectors include:

- mattress ticking- upholstery- wall coverings- curtains- carpets- workwear- nonwoven- automotive- transportation

Keeping a close eye on new technologies, Devan always takes into consideration not only current but also future regulations on fire safety & chemicals.

Co-creating unique solutionsRevolutionary technological achievements require the highest level of technical support. Devan engineers work together with renowned universities and co-create with our customers to develop unique products that will make a difference for the future.

From clinical trials, like the one in Tanzania for the NObug project sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to lab through to factory, Devan makes the technologies work!

Technology + imaginationDevan engineers continually develop ground-breaking technologies. The use of extracts or probiotics in microcapsules is such a revolution. These capsules can contain active substances for skin hydration or anti-oxidants offering protection against free radicals, Projects like the wristbands treated with Devan Insecta capsules are life savers in the fight against malaria. With a little bit of imagination, anything is possible.

Long-lasting added valueEnvironmentally and skin friendly, Devan’s micro-encapsulation technology guarantees a gradual release of the functionality over time, for an effective, long lasting solution. Our continually evolving encapsulation technology is taking health & wellness for fabrics to the next level. From relaxing or invigorating aromatherapy to skin care and insect repellency during outdoor activities, our future-proof solutions can add value to wellbeing.

FUNCTIONAL MASTER BATCHES

HEALTH &WELLNESS

Functionality locked into the fibre@2spin® is a range of solid masterbatch additives that can give a wide range of fibres different functionalities. These include Soft Touch (100 series), flame retardant properties (200 series), surface modifiers (300 series), dyeable PP - tailor made (400 series), friction control (400 series), improved resilience (400 series) and antimicrobial (600 series). The functional masterbatches need to be added the extrusion process prior to the melting of the polymer by means of a dosing unit. Different @2spin® products are available for different polymers, including PP, PA, PES or PTT. The functional masterbatches are easy to use and their consumption can easily be monitored during production. Applications: carpets, upholstery, nonwovens, fibre fillings, socks, monofilaments, etc.

@2SPIN® advantagesCompared to classic technologies that functionalise fibres, @2spin® functional masterbatches offer numerous advantages:

- More flexibility in dosing level and usage- No additional water or energy required in the downstream

production process - The functionality is locked into the fibre for higher resistance

to washings - No adverse effects on fabric weight, softness or colour- Broad range of functionalities- Easy use and monitoring of consumption- Sustainable technology- No need of a finishing process- Improved production efficiency (non-quality reduction)

The Spin Master: bringing innovation to market fasterThe Spin Master is a semi-industrial extrusion and spinning line developed to facilitate and accelerate the transfer of technology from lab scale to industrial scale. The aim is to reduce the time-to-market for innovations in fibre functionalisation. The setup of the Spin Master is unique in Europe and makes it possible to spin multifunctional industrial yarns such as CF, BCF and POY in PP, PES, PLA, PTT and PA6. The Spin Master not only dramatically increases the speed of commercial development. It also allows the production of small quantities of yarns for end-customers wishing to make final prototypes using new functional fibres.

Not the biggest, but the bestHere at Devan we focus on the development of unique and innovative solutions with added value for worldwide textile markets.
