General Goals and OBjectives�e goal of the Geriatrics Fellowship is to train physicians who are competent to deliver and coordinate the highest quality of care for the elderly. �is program will provide training in the development of the clinical competencies needed to diagnose and manage medical illnesses and injuries related to Geriatric Medicine. Clinical experience will include long-term care, hospice care, skilled care and rehabilitation.
Program Design�e Geriatrics Fellowship will provide the educational experiences necessary for the subspecialty fellow to achieve the cognitive knowledge, interpersonal and leadership skills, professional attitudes, and practical community-based experience required of physicans to specialize in the care of elderly patients. �e clinical faculty will provide didactic learning as well as clinical opportunities as integral parts of the required curriculum. �e educational and clinical experiences will be designed to allow the fellow to assume progressive responsibility for geriatric patient care in unique training environments across the Scranton, Pennsylvania community.
