    Diversify your Portfolio

Diversification may reduce the overall volatility of your portfolio

    Example

Investor A and Investor B have RM100,000 each in their retirement plan

account for a period of 20 years.Investor A invests in a single asset class while Investor B diversifies into 5 different asset

    classes.

Investor B yields better return throughdiversification of assets.

DCA reduces the risk to time the market

The Power of Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA)Invest a fixed amount of money at regular intervals, you get more units whenprices fall, and get less units when prices rise

    Offer Prices

    (RM)

    1 2,000 1.2 1,666

    2 2,000 1 2,000

    Year AnnualPremium Paid UnitsPurchased

Average Unit Cost to you over the 5 year period

    = 10000/7928 = RM1.26

Average price over the 5 year period

    = RM(1.2+1+1.5+1.1+1.8) / 5 = RM1.32

Through DCA, your average unit cost is usually lower than the averageprice for the same period. DCA reduces the risk to time the market.

    Investors reactions during crisis

    Not in the market yet

Felt that they are so lucky and smart.

Want to wait for the lowest entry level but it never happens.

    Already in the market

Panic sell-off this may be a good strategy to cut furtherlosses if you were to invest directly into stocks and shares!

Stay invested and do nothing. Felt extremely sorry forthemselves and felt that this is the end of the world

Stay invested and invest further during crisis. Practisingdollar cost averaging method the right strategy for ILP.
