Daydream wasdetermined like his

mother. He survivedand was born.

He had a birth defect:he slobbered. He wasdetermined not to havethis affect him.

Stardust ew to Hawaii on a

starry night on air transport.

She was a restless spirit, but also determined and smart.

She felt the tsunami coming and escaped into the jungle.

She felt she needed to escape and meetthe black stallion. As a result Daydreamwas born. In her many adventures shegot seriously hurt and nobody believedthe baby would survive.

He liked to charge the vet. Daydream loved to splash in the ocean.

He loved to jump just because,and was nicknamed Grasshopper.

Stardust and Daydream were happy together. He lovedhis mother a lot. Hew was born dark brown and only laterlost his baby fur and was speckled white like stardust.

Most of all, Daydreamloved his adventures with

his friend Little Snow.3

He did not understand whatwas going on. He felt aban-

doned, forgotten, in jail. Healmost gave up, but did not.

Different grass and differentmountains. His humans left for

a week to nish the move.

Life changed dramatically whenthe Big She and Little She, thehumans, and the rest of hisfamily moved to the Mainland.They all ew to Oregon.

There were many surprises.They did not know snow was wet.

There were different trees.

The move to Oregonand Unicorn Ranch

Theyre back andI tried my best

One day his human was back

together with Little Snow.

Everybody was so happy: the horses, Little Snow,

Penny the chicken, Mama Duck Thunder, Mali Roy,Murka the cat, Nick the canary and all the rest.

Big She was doing a lot of work to make

the ranch nice and comfortable.

Daydream tried to protect his humans and take care

of them. Some of the efforts got him into trouble likewhen he fought the hose thinking it was a snake.

He visualized himself as a black stallion,like his father, leading the mustangs. Hehowever realized how easily mustangscan be harmed. Particularly by people.He also felt loyal to his humans. He didnot give up on them even though theyask so much of him.

They met mustangs. Daydream enviedthem and their sense of freedom.

Dont fence me in

The family explored the mountains and oldpioneer trails. They had many adventures.

My beginning show carrier ...a disaster

He started training for shows and that

was very hard work. He felt sometimesthat he was asked to be like a machinenot like a horse meant to be free.

Because he did not have to be a team member, and

wanted things his way and thought he knew best, LittleShe started riding another horse. His little sister Espie.

He felt depressed, angry, betrayed. He did not give upand tried his best and hoped his dreams would come true.7

Rascal Smorse coached him in how tohandle kids.

He started showing in musical freestyles with the kids.

They had more and more success. After Zorro drill theyfelt they were unbeatable and they almost were.

Then he got to care alot about the kids heworked with. He wasglad he did not give up.

Me as a therapist?!?

Big She involved him in the horse programfor children. He rst did not want to doit. He did not see the point.

On the road

After rst successes Daydream startedshowing more and more. He traveledthrough 48 states through his lifetime.

Daydream did not have that but he imaginedhow he would have stalls decorated one day.

Sometimes the tripswere very long. Theystopped at mega truckstops and he had toexercise every sixhours during the tripto not get sick.

Sometimes among the semi trucks.They slept in horse motels.

Most stallsin the bigshows lookedlike palaceswith velvetdrapes andfountains.

He nally competed at Nationals.He was neck to neck with abigger horse more like a horsethe judges usually like.

There were many people watching.He did not give up! He was a champion!

He was like re,unstoppable!

On the top

He performed as the Champion dancingfor the whole world to see!

Daydream was a ghter and never gaveup even when the odds were againsthim and nobody believed he would win.

He became a Northwest Champion! Life was his dream come true. People said he isthe best horse ever! Horses were his fans too.

When he came back home he was

asked again to work hard andhe went into a different kind ofcompetition: combined training andhe had to jump which he alwaysliked to do.

Happily ever after?

The herd was there for him.

It seemed as ifeven the treeshe helped plantwere trying toencourage him.

He was a brave horse like always.Also very loyal.

Then he found out he had cancer. Life seemed to havenothing to look forward to. He was almost ready to giveup. His She was there for him and he did not want to leaveher without his support. He decided to get better and live!

Those were very sad times.

Epilogue

Life slowly became better. He tookupon himself to help with the herd,the babies. He taught babies howto be good horses.

He helped train Disco, thestallion. He was small and

scared when he arrived.He particularly loved P.K.

Mothers trusted him with their kids.His She appreciated his help.

He also took care andhelped with Fuego; A foalfrom a rescued mare.

Sometimes when humans were not around, he

would pretend he was again at a show doing theride of his life. Little Snow was not around anymore but Mitia, almost his twin, was.

Sometimes he thought of Hawaii.He thinks how very important isloyalty in life. Daring to dream,hard work, and never giving up!

Sometimes Daydream remembered hisadventures.
