Belting out rock en' rollclassics with a soaring,husky, from-the-gut voicethat moved through the roomand animated the audience tomove, front-woman MichelleKing and the internationallyacclaimed band, Flame,brought down the house anduplifted spirits yesterday atthe Joan & Alan BernikowJewish Community Center,SeaView.
Heads bobbed, handsclapped and the auditoriumoften erupted into a giantsing-along as hundreds cameout to hear ilie &rouE of 10p-eopIellving with autism,Down Syndrome, mental re-tardation and blindnessheadline the JCC's secondannual Reelabilities Film Fes-tival - a celebration of thearts, dedicated to peoplewith special needs.
With nearly 100 such livetour dates a year, appear-ances on ABC's "Good Morn-ing America," the Parthenon,in Greece, and an upcomingspread in People Magazine,Flame keeps a schedule ri-valing the Grammy nomineeswho strutted last night on thered carpet.
But their message is asmuch in the musicians as inthe music.

Among the rollickingcrew: A Girl Scout Troopfrom JCC and their partnersand friends in a Girl ScoutTroop made up of disabledyoungsters from PS 37,GreatKills; adults with Down Syn-drome; children with Autism;and a beaming girl coddled inthe arms of her parents,marching right past herchild-sized wheelchair,which had been pushedagainst the wall.
Leading the way were
Flame's two dancers, wlhigh-energy, interpretsmoves communicatecsweet and unique unadirated joy.
