I am glad to inform you that you have been PROVISIONALLY selected for admission at this Institute. On behalf of the Institute, I extend you a hearty welcome to our Institute. You must report at the Institute along with your original certificates for confirmation of admission and Orientation Program. Reporting Dates: Students are required to report to their respective Halls of residence (Hostel) on the following reporting date: 22 nd July, 2015: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Hall Allocation: It is mandatory for all registered students of IIT Kanpur to reside in the Halls of residence assigned to them. Hall allocation for the new undergraduate students will be announced soonafter the final allotment, which can be looked up at the following link: http://iitk.ac.in/counsel/index.php?page=newug The hall allocation list will also be available with the Security guards at the IITK main gate, when you arrive. Orientation Programme: The Orientation Programme is organized to acquaint the new students with the Institute and to facilitate a smooth transition into the new life at IIT Kanpur. The students are assisted to perform various Institute formalities like registration, ID card making, bank account opening etc. Also, the freshers are helped to adjust to the new life of IIT Kanpur campus through various activities and sessions organized during the Orientation. The Orientation Programme for the new UG students begins on 24th July, 2015. Important items to be brought to IIT Kanpur: The checklist for all the important documents to be brought to IIT Kanpur, monetary requisites and other requirements is available at the link given below. You can also download the necessary forms required for registration and other formalities from the given link. http://iitk.ac.in/counsel/index.php?page=newug Student Guides: Student Guides are 2nd year UG students who form an integral part of the Counselling Service. They have been carefully selected by the Counselling Service and are trained to perform their task of being a guide and a friend to the 1st year UG students. Beginning with the Orientation Programme, their initial task is to help the new students adapt to an entirely new life at IIT Kanpur. The role of a student guide is limited not only to the Orientation programme; he remains as a friend and a guide throughout. Scholarships: Every year, a large number of scholarships are awarded to the students by the institute.
