. In a 1994 article in the American Prospect, Paul Starr referred to ____'s "hidden curriculum." He noted that success required an industrial base, and he criticized the bias against mixed-use development. Private land values were pegged to the public budget, and health depended on zoning and allocation of resources, which determined tax receipts. The underlying structure was a "capitalistic land value ecology."

Other critics questioned the absence of race, pointing out that simulating urban decay without taking ethnicity into account was unrealistic, if not manipulative. And then there were taxes. Raise them enough, and your citizens would riot. Everyone absorbed the underlying message: Taxes are dangerous. This was Milton Friedman. Still, it wasn't enough to satisfy conservatives. They said nuclear power plants were punished while building mass transit was rewarded. They grumbled that the state was depicted as the sole engine for urban growth.

The first explorers to arrive in a certain country named it for a certain aspect of this tree's appearance. What feature and which country?

In 2000, there was a poll conducted in Japan by the Fuji Research Institute to identify the greatest Japanese innovation of the 20th century. Karaoke finished second in the poll, followed by the Sony Walkman. Then came video gaming consoles, CDs and compact cameras. The films of famous director Akira Kurosawa finished in 7th place, just ahead of Nintendo's Pokemon. Which commonplace invention topped the poll?

6.What did this game play give rise to?

It is believed to have originated from the French game which was very popular before the French revolution. Each play area of this game was 90 ft in total with 45 ft on each side.

When a player scored he/she moved forward 15 ft. If he scored again, would move another 15 ft. If he scored a third time, he could only move 10 ft closer.

Anna Maria Grosholtz was born in Strasbourg, France. At the age of 17, she became art tutor to King Louis XVI’s sister at the Palace Of Versailles and then, during the French Revolution, was hastily forced to prove her allegiance to the feudalistic nobles by making the death masks of executed aristocrats. For this, she searched through corpses to find the decapitated heads of executed citizens.

SCIENCE

The quote "logarithmic plots are a device of the devil" is attributed to X.

X invented an instrument generally consisting of a constantly unwinding roll of paper, anchored to a fixed place, and a pendulum or magnet suspended with a marking device above the roll – to record even a sensitive motion. X chose to use the term "magnitude" to describe the quantity being measured because of his early interest in astronomy; stargazers use the word to describe the brightness of stars. Gutenberg suggested that the scale be logarithmic, so that a 7 would be ten times stronger than a 6, a hundred times stronger than a 5, and a thousand times stronger than a 4.

SPORTS

Despite the lack of a comprehensive record on this much-debated-item’s weight, sporadic reports help collate the following data :

Its weight changed 8 years ago from 2.97 to 2.75 lbs (1.347 to 1.247 kg) – supposedly a significant change in the history of its usage. For a very long time though, it weighed an unreasonable 3 lbs and 4 ounces (1.474 kg) before being reduced to 2 lbs and 12 ounces (1.247 kg) subsequently, and stayed so since the last disclosure.

Despite the occasional reductions in weight, it has carried a constant criticism of being much heavier than others of its kind around the world.

What famous item of nation-wide scrutiny is this?

The common Basilisk is a lizard found in Central &South American rain forests.

It is also known as ____ ____

lizard for the for its ability to run on water when threatened. This spectacle can be readily witnessed; of all large lizards in Costa Rica, this species is the most commonly encountered, especially along streams and lakes. It is more numerous in the dry northwestern region of the country. Adults often bask in daylight near water when they are not foraging or resting. At night they sleep on perches close to the ground or as high as 20 m.

When startled, the Common Basilisk escapes by speeding to the nearest edge of water—and continues sprinting. The lizard runs on only its hind legs in an erect position, holding its arms to its sides.

During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603), there was constant rivalry between Spain and England culminating in the launch of the Spanish Armada in 1588. The Spanish Armada consisted of many Spanish galleons and was sent to invade England. The Armada was led by Duke of Medina Sedonia and the fleet numbered over 130 ships. The English fleet, under Admiral Lord Howard, totalled 34 small Navy vessels and 163 armed merchant ships. But the Spanish Armada was defeated. Only 65 Spanish galleons and just 10,000 men returned to Spain. The attempt failed, not only because of the swift nature of the smaller English ships but also by the stormy weather which scattered the Armada fleet. This is usually considered to be the story behind something which is pretty common today.

The X River in northern Democratic Republic of the Congo is the headstream of the Mongala River, a tributary of the Congo River.

It is roughly 250 km in length.

It lends its name to a particularly virulent family of beings, which have wreaked havoc since 1977. In 2000,their name was changed to add Zaire to it, though it has been discontinued since 2010.

These particular beings have eluded medical science, and even recently (and ongoing) caused great speculation about bringing an apocalyptic end if they break loose.

Give me X.

8.In the ‘Hobbit’ movie franchise, the character ‘Bard the Bowman’ is played by Luke Evans, shown on right.

The interest of the QM lies, however, in the portrayal of ‘Girion, Lord of Dale’, who is supposed to be an ancestor of Bard.

Naturally, a similar looking actor was needed, also in picture to the left

Question is, who plays ‘Girion’?
