The economy has changed the social and economic scenario of the world. Today there is a great need for qualifiedand trained management professionals to lead organisations and the industry to the next level for economic growth

and prosperity. Themanagement education today is considered as stepping stone for professionals who are looking

There are many qualified professionals who could not pursue their management education due to different

reasons. The Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives (PGPWE) provides such an opportunity for such

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives (PGPWE),shortly to be introduced at the Indian Institute of Management, Raipur. This unique 18 month program is really

aimed to help you give yourself a second chance. In life, a lot of us miss out on the opportunity to take the right

decisions for a variety of reasons, either because of financial or family compulsions. Sometimes we also regret on

opportunities that we have missed because this.

This program is designed for precisely you. In this program you will study for 18 months, over Saturday's and

Sundays in an intellectually invigorating program. After this program is over you will be in a better situation to face

any organizational promotional challenge. You will work under the prestigious IIM brand name, being taught by

the best minds in the country, using state of the art pedagogy. You will interact with your peer group, in structured

sessions, share experiences and learning, emerging over the period intellectually stronger.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) brand has now become synonymous with innovation, talent and zeal

for success and contribution in management. In 2010, the Government of India set up three new IIMs to meet

the growing demand for top quality professionals. IIM Raipur is one amongst them. It is situated at Raipur in the

state of Chhattisgarh - one of the fastest growing states of India, with its rich mineral, forest, natural and localresources. The first batch of its flagship programme 'Post-Graduate Programme in Management started in 2010.

Presently IIM Raipur operates from the Government Engineering College Campus, Sejbahar, Raipur. The

Government of Chhattisgarh has identified 200 acres of land for the proposed IIM Raipur campus at Naya Raipur.

The proposed campus will be a state-of-the-art campus, presenting a blissful mix of modern architecture, culture

& heritage of Chhattisgarh.

The Institute aims at bringing a global perspective to all its programmes and activities in a fast changing global

economic environment. The Institute also encourages an overseas exposure for its students with the belief that

it will help them to assimilate best management practices and understand the importance of cross culture

issues in management.

Right from its inception the Institute focuses on contributing to the growth and development of the Nation,

region and society at large. As such it gives importance to courses and managerial trainings that are moulded in a

way true to the culture and unique requirements of the state and organisations herein. Ethical practices in

Resources at IIM Raipur

The main campus houses the academic complex including the doctoral programme office and research scholar

facilities and the library.

The library is committed to provide access to its resources for research scholars and faculty. It has a collection of

books in addition to journals and newspapers, databases, working papers, thesis, project reports, CDs and

videos.

The strength of the library is its digital collection that can be accessed campus-wide through its website

http://www.iimraipur.ac.in. The website links its in-house catalogue in addition to the databases that provide

scholarly, company and industry information.

Post-Graduate Programme in Management

for Working Executives (PGPWE)

The Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executive (PGPWE) is an intensive one and a half year

post graduate program in management, especially designed for mid/senior level professionals. The program isformulated and designed to enhance skills and capabilities essential for managerial positions. The focus is to

enable and develop managers that understand global embedness and requirements of their organisations as well

as also understand the intricacies of business at functional and strategic levels. The program also has given a

special emphasis on emerging economies which have enormous potential and business opportunities.

Especially suited for professionals who have a desire to upgrade to managerial ranks, professionally grow and

contribute to their organisations, the classes will held on weekends only with the duration of 12 hours a week.

The pedagogy at the institute will comprise of a unique mix of lectures, role plays, interactive case studies, group

discussions, assignments and projects providing industry interface. The interdisciplinary nature of the program

will also serve to enrich classroom experience. The programme is designed to be rigorous and rewarding. The

students will also have to complete a dissertation illustrating application of their learning.

The selection process is designed to ensure significant diversity in academic, business and cultural background.

During the course of this program, interaction with peers and faculty will augment many skills- both technical and

non-technical, lead to appreciation of differing perspectives, and mobilise individuals towards common goals of

developing into effective managers that will successfully lead their organisations.

Objective of the Programme

The overall goal of the programme is to broaden core leadership competencies to further enhancethe professional growth of participants. The specific objectives of the programme are to:

Provide participants with the fundamental principles of effective management of modern

business organizations

Develop understanding of the roles and responsibilities of business managers in increasinglyglobal nature of social and economic orders and corporate operations

Sharpen diagnostic and analytical skills for effective decision making in complex businessperspectives

Sensitise participants to the issues of cultural diversity and develop skills for effectivemanagement within multi-cultural work environments

Develop leadership capabilities to act as change agents and be a source of motivation in theorganizations

on successful completion of the Programme.

How to Apply?

Candidates seeking admission to the PGPWE programme of IIM Raipur (2012-14 batch) either have to submit

their CAT score or GMAT score. Those who do not have any of these scores have to appear for the BAT organized

by IIM Raipur.

Candidates applying through CAT have to mention their CAT Registration number in the PGPWE Application form.

Accordingly, candidates applying through GMAT have to submit their GMAT score along with the PGPWE

Application form. The candidates who wish to apply through Business Aptitude Test (BAT) will have to mention

the same in the application form. They will be sent an official intimation regarding the venue and other details.

The completed application form should reach IIM Raipur on or before September 14, 2012.

IIM Raipur is looking for a diverse group of participants.

Candidates could be from private, public sector, government departments, NGOs etc

They could also be professionals e.g. doctors, architects, consultants, defence personnel, civil servants

or entrepreneurs

Programme Structure

The 18 months Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executives (PGPWE) has two sections of

three terms each:

Foundation Courses will focus on creating a strong base of understanding the fundamental principles of

effective management in modern business organizations. This section will also focus on developing

understanding of the business in increasingly globalised economic and political environment. This will help to

crystallise the fundamental conceptual and analytical knowledge. The courses will be aimed to:

Preparing the candidate for Leadership Position

Advanced level courses will prepare the student for taking up higher responsibility and leadership position.

International Immersion will supplement the leadership quality of the students to work in a cross-cultural and

global environment. At the end, capstone programme will provide an opportunity to the student to integrate

the learning from the programme to take the challenge and lead under uncertain global environment. It will

For International Immersion or Rural Immersion Programme, participants will be charged additional fee to

cater to course fee, lodging, boarding, travel and other expenses. Those students who are not interested to

participate in International Immersion Programme need to participate in Rural Immersion Programme.

Capstone course provides an opportunity to the student to integrate the learning from the programme and

understand to work in large multidisciplinary teams against tough deadlines.This is equivalent to 20 sessions.

The pedagogy at IIM Raipur presents a mix of case studies, lecture sessions by faculty, live interactions with

industry experts, business games, simulation exercises and field visits. This has been designed keeping in mind the

effect each of these methods have on moulding the minds of young and self-motivated managers.

The case studies help students to keep in touch with the best predicaments faced in the world of management.

With the experienced faculty we have, our students are well guided in their analyses. This provides students with a

hands-on approach to management. Interactions with personnel from industry ensure that students are up to date

with the latest issues and occurrences in the various industries. The most interesting part of our system of

education comes with the drive we instil in the students to have brainstorming sessions amongst themselves

regarding various issues. As Albert Einstein said, 'The important thing is to never stop asking questions!' This has

proved extremely helpful in the students moulding themselves into world class managers with a self-realized

potential and vision.
