The Centre or WTO StudiesThe major objective o the Centre has been to provide research and analytical support on a continuous
basis to the Department o Commerce on identied issues pertaining to the World Trade Organization.
The Centre or International Trade and Technology (CITT)Recognizing the role o innovations, research & development and technology or the growth and
competitiveness o trade and industry in knowledge based economy, the Centre or International
Trade and Technology (CITT) was set up in 2001 at IIFT with the active technical and nancial support
o Ministry o Science & Technology, Department or Scientic and Indust rial Research, Government
o India. The CITT primarily aims at promoting technology business through policy research, capacity
building, dissemination o inormation and networking.
The Centre or SME StudiesThe Centre or SME Studies at IIFT provides continuous support to the SME sector by carrying out
activities which can be broadly classied into:
• Conducting Training Programmes,
• Provision o Business Intelligence services through a Databank and
• Acting as a catalyst or interacing with other concerned and associated institutions.
ResearchIIFT has, over the years, undertaken path-breaking research studies with organisations like WTO, World

As a part o the decisions taken at India Arica Forum Summit on 8-9 April, 2008, IIFT has been
entrusted with the responsibility o conducting Executive Development Programmes (EDPs) on
International Business in dierent Arican countries.
Executive Development Programme on International Business at Cairo, Egypt (05-16 July, 2009)
During the current nancial year, the institute has organized EDPs on International Business in
various Arican countries such as Ethiopia, Egypt, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Uganda and South
Arica. These received overwhelming response rom the participants and the governments in the
host countries.
Unprecedented changes have been taking place in the economic environment across the world as
a result o globalization in general and global slowdown in particular. This has metamorphosed the
very approach o international business. In times o economic turbulence and political upheavals,
the secret o success lies in building capacities to meet unoreseen but emerging challenges.
Management Development Programmes (MDPs) being thecore strength o IIFT in the eld o International Business aimat developing required skills and proessional competencyamong the participants and equip them with knowledge o international trade and business and to keep pace with theemerging challenges.

MBA (IB), the fagship programme o IIFT, is a two year, ullyresidential programme. journals, the library comprises o a unique collection
o publications and business journals rom FAO, IMF,
UNCTAD, World Bank and other international agencies.
Students have access to databases such as CMIE, India
Stat, World Trade Atlas, World Bank Indicators, WITS and
EBSCO and other audio-visual aids on management.
IIFT has set up the WTO R esource Centre in the Library
to ocus exclusively on WTO issues. This unique Centre
enhances the utility o the IIFT Li brary even urther.
FacilitiesThe campus itsel is very picturesque, with artistically
designed buildings and well-maintained plush gardens.
The acilities available on the campus include, ully
air-conditioned lecture halls with modern audio-visual
aids, conerence halls or round-table conerences, an
auditorium o 500 seating capacity, three computer
centers, indoor games, sports ground, besides excellent
residential acilities or the students.
HostelIIFT, Delhi comprises o two hostels which are
well equipped to help students deal with the
hectic course. Both hostels have recreation
rooms, study lounges and gymnasiums. Full time
medical assistance is available.
LocationLocated in Qutab Institutional Area, overlooking the
green ridge and the historical Qutab Minar, the IIFT
Campus is considered to be one o the nest in the
country. The campus is spread over 6.5 acres o land,
houses two academic blocks and two residential blocks
or students and visiting aculty. Be it the imposing
structure o the “Atrium”, the mystic beauty o the

magazines including those by IMF, UNCTAD, etc. and

students carry out extensive research. The databases

Construction o IIFT Kolkata’s new campus is under way
on a 10-acre plot allotted by the Govt. o West Bengal
and it is expected to b e a state-o-the-art campus
meeting international standards in the eld o MBA

LocationThe IIFT Kolkata Campus was started in the year 2006
and is an extension o the Delhi campus or all academic
activities. The highly qualied and experienced aculty
teach at both the campuses and the courses and credits

Corporate Relations Arica Business Cell
The Arica Business Cell is a unique initiative across
any B- School in India to impart the students o IIFT
with knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges that
businesses in Arica ace. The Cell will identiy, create, and
explore tangible and actionable opportunities through
research studies and consultancy, and by collaborating
with Arican governments, Indian government and
corporate.

student body at IIFT. It coordinates and provides
administrative support to various student bodies and

Cash-o-nova: The Finance clubCashonova true to its name deals with all the acets o
money. Its members are n-enthusiasts, passionate about
crunching numbers. The club organizes a national nancesymposium every year in Mumbai and a plethora o other

to equip the students with the nuances o valuation, the
club has also started an Equity Res earch Cell.
Brandwagon: The Marketing clubBrandwagon promotes the spirit o marketing in all
its glory. It endeavors to increase student exposure to

Socrates: The Consulting clubSocrates caters to all the strategists o IIFT. It assists and

Systemix: The Business Technology clubSystemix serves as a platorm that provides students

Blash is a dedicated club or Trade and prepares students
or successul careers in it. The club ocuses on sectoral

Koshish: The Social Awareness ClubKoshish excels in cultivating social responsibility amongst
the management students. It sensitizes the students

child education, organizing blood donation camps andvisiting old age homes and orphanages.
QuintessentialIIFTians have over the years developed a fair or quizzing
and have made their indomitable presence elt in every
B-school quiz across the country. Quintessential is a

prestigious BT Acumen B-School quizzing challenge.
E Cell- The Entrepreneurship CellThe entrepreneurship cell strives to drive the
entrepreneurial spirit among the IIFT community. It
organizes workshops and sessions that motivate budding
entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and provides
constructive eedback on them.
IIFT believes in learning through group work. It
inculcates the concept o a “TEAM” in every activity

CONSULTING SYMPOSIUM (Delhi)IIFT boasts o the diversity in the background o its students, consulting included. Students either have experience in it
or want to venture into it. Since there are no ormal courses or it, the solution is to have events where the most sought
ater consultants explain and address issues that they ace.
AL-GORE COMPETITION (Delhi)This prestigious competition conducts its competitions all over the world and IIFT Delhi has been hosting the Indian
rounds. Dignitaries are invited to judge teams on a pan India basis to nalise the participants who would then compete
internationally in USA with teams rom all over the world.
These symposiums lend IIFT the status o a melting pot o sorts. Apart rom these, IIFT also has
many fagship events, very distinctive in their design and integral to IIFT’s activities calendar.
QUO VADIS
Quo-Vadis is the 3 day annual Management and Cultural Festival at IIFT which was organized during 19th to 21st
November 2010 at Delhi. Major attractions included fagship events like Datas, Brandwagon, Consigliare, Shodh and
Jurisprudence. All IIFT Clubs participated actively in the estival which was attended by participants rom several major
B-Schools.
TACTICATACTICA is one simulation game that attracted huge participation rom all MBA Schools across the globe. It is a
wholesome game as it calls or knowledge in all elds- trade, marketing and nance. Very unique in its design, it has
been very well received.
DWIJANMA- BRANDWAGONThe event by the marketing club is about working on a ailed product. T he competition ocuses on market re-entry and
re-branding strategy or a product that has been a ailure in the market. The event draws the most innovative marketing
minds rom across the raternity because o the challenge it poses.
OPERAZOR- SYSTEMIXAnother o the strategy games, the event pits our competitors against each other. With the twist o real time
negotiations, they have to chalk their way to victory. The teams are selected rom over a ew hundred teams and only the
best compete in the nale.
SOCIAL B-PLAN COMPETITION- KOSHISHAn essential nowadays is the corporate social responsibility. A good manager is one who can also think o the society
while strategizing or its company. The event aims at bringing out this quality o the students. Students are required to
design a business plan rom the society’s perspective such that it can be socially sustainable and viable.
At IIFT, education is not restricted to books as experience comes with practical
application. The student body ensures students get ample opportunities to practice
what they learn. Every club has a fagship event which it hosts during Quo Vadis,apart rom the annual symposium and numerable competitions. The purpose is

Final placements o the MBA (IB) 2008-10 batch ended on a high note with the average salary standing at 11.62
lakhs per annum. There was a massive increase o over 54% compared to the p revious year.
The placement process witnessed participation rom 62 companies across diverse sectors. Several industry
leaders like ITC, Colgate Palmolive, Nomura Holdings, Titan, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Cognizant Business
Consulting, Tata Motors, Johnson & Johnson Medical Systems, Reckitt Benckiser, Louis Dreyus, Darashaw and
many more which recruited students or roles like marketing, sales, corporate nance, international business,
operations, consulting and business development.
Some o the new recruiters were Darashaw, Amazan Agro, Marg Group, Cairn India, GE Corporation, Jaypee
Capital and Vistasot.
The icing on the cake however was the international placements. More than 10% o the batch got international
oers in companies like Olam International, Triton Group, Wilson International, Punj Lloyd and Sudima
International. Olam International made headlines again by oering a salary o USD 150,000.

Placement Procedure 2010-2011• Pre-Placement talks will be held rom November onwards at the Institute during which the companies make
presentations about their operations and job prole.
• The date and time slots or interviews during the Placement week will be intimated to the company one week
prior to the commencement o the Placement week.
• Resumes o the interested or eligible students will be dispatched to the company on request.
• The company must declare the results while on campus.
• A acilitation charge o Rs. 30,000 is applicable.

Our traditional recruiters like Louis Dreyus, ITC, Colgate Palmolive, Britannia, J&J Medical,
Mahindra & Mahindra, Nomura, Essar, Axis Bank, Cognizant Business Consulting, Dr. Reddy’s,
Reckitt Benckiser, DSCL, MSIL, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Cargill, Peretti, SAB Miller made their
presence elt with oers ranging rom corporate nance to strategy to sales & marketing. The
big names in IT like Wipro, IBM, TCS, Genpact also turned up in ull strength. Niche proles like
Marine Consulting oered by iMaritime Consulting and Trade Consulting by ETI Dynamics were
some o the highlights this year.
What set apart the summers process this year was the entry o a host o new companies rom
diverse sectors. Some o the new recruiters were American Express, ADM Agro, Reli gare,
ConAgra Foods, GATI, BASF, GVK Bio, Daimler, ONGC, Fullerton Securities, BPCL, Raymond and
InterGlobe.

• Summer Placements will commence in the second week o October 2010.
• Every student is given the option o applying to as many companies as desir ed. However,
he/she would be out o the placement process as soon as an oer is received.
• Companies can invite applications or summer jobs either on organization’s own
application orm or through the curriculum vitae o the students.
• Internship duration is atleast 8 weeks between April and June.
• No recruitment ee is charged or summer internship.
