Para la Comunidad de Madrid representa un gran honor acoger el II Congreso Internacional “La Voz de las Mujeres Rurales en el Mundo”, que organiza la Asociación de Familias y Mujeres del Medio Rural. Esta importante cita consolida una iniciativa tan interesante como necesaria, que durante dos días hará de Madrid el escenario donde estudiar y debatir los principales retos que tienen planteadas las mujeres rurales en todo el mundo.

La ONU estima que las mujeres rurales representan más de un tercio de la población mundial y el 43% de la mano

de obra agrícola. Estos datos por sí solos ya justifican la oportunidad de celebrar un Congreso Internacional como éste. Porque en amplias zonas del planeta, donde los desequilibrios son flagrantes, las mujeres tienen que enfrentarse no sólo a la habitual brecha de género, sino también a la que existe entre el campo y la ciudad.

Así, a la igualdad entre mujeres y hombres como objetivo a perseguir, es preciso incorporar también la igualdad de oportunidades entre aquellas que viven en un entorno y otro, para garantizar que las mujeres rurales cuentan con los recursos indispensables que les permitan desarrollar todas sus capacidades, con la misma plenitud que si residieran en la ciudad. La Agenda 2030, muy presente en este Congreso, participa de esta inquietud.

En una región de carácter fuertemente urbano como Madrid, las mujeres rurales son también parte fundamental del desarrollo y la pervivencia de nuestros municipios más pequeños, y por eso el Gobierno regional promueve diversas iniciativas dirigidas a mejorar su acceso al mercado laboral, así como a erradicar la violencia de género.

La Constitución española, que acaba de cumplir cuarenta años, y que es la otra gran referencia que va a presidir este Congreso, ha sentado las bases de enormes progresos para la mujer en nuestro país, y nos ofrece un estímulo constante para seguir trabajando, de manera específica, en favor de las mujeres rurales.

Rural women present in urban development

It is a great honour for the Community of Madrid to host the II International Congress "The Voice of Rural Women in the World", organized by the Association of Rural Families and Women. This important event consolidates an initiative as interesting as necessary, which for two days will make Madrid the stage where to study and debate the main challenges that rural women have faced all over the world.

The UN estimates that rural women represent more than a third of the world's population and 43% of agricultural labour force. These data alone already justify the opportunity to hold an International Congress like this one. Because in large areas of the planet, where the imbalances are flagrant, women have to face not only the usual gender gap, but also that etween the countryside and the city.

Thus, apart from equality between women and men as an objective to pursue, we need to incorporate equal opportunities between those who live in one environment and another, to ensure thatrural women have the essential resources that allow them to develop all their abilities, with the same fullness as if they lived in the city. The 2030 Agenda, very present in this Congress,participates in this concern.

In a strongly urban region such as Madrid, rural women are also a fundamental part of the development and survival of our smallest municipalities, and that is why the regional government is promoting various initiatives aimed at improving their access to the labour market, as well as eradicating gender violence.

The Spanish Constitution, which has just turned forty, and which is the other great reference that will preside over this Congress, has laid the foundations of enormous progress for women inour country, and offers us a constant stimulus to continue working, specifically, in favour of rural women.

Avanzamos hacia la igualdadQueridas amigas, hoy me siento especialmente orgullosa de lo que somos y por lo que trabajamos al compartir con todas vosotras este II Congreso Internacional: “La voz de las mujeres rurales en el Mundo”, un foro para intercambiar inquietudes, experiencias vitales y sobre todo, el conocimiento que nos ha traído hasta aquí y que es la materia de progreso para alcanzar la igualdad real en la sociedad global en que nos toca vivir. Con esa intención, surgió AFAMMER hace 36 años: dar voz a las mujeres del medio rural; y no solo de este país, sino de todo el mundo, llevando nuestra causa a todos los organismo nacionales e internacionales, que han respaldado las propuestas que han nacido desde nuestra asociación y que

podemos decir con enorme satisfacción, han contribuido a disminuir las desigualdades sociales, al liderar importantes causas a lo largo de estos intensos años de trabajo. El empoderamiento de la mujer rural es clave en el cumplimiento de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Agenda 2030 para construir un mundo mejor en el que nadie quede atrás, donde la calidad de vida, el empleo y las infraestructuras sociales

alejen el fantasma del despoblamiento y la pobreza de nuestro hábitat.

En este II Congreso Internacional también queremos reconocer el importante papel que ha tenido en nuestra vida como asociación la Constitución española, que hoy cumple 40 años y que desde su redacción mantiene el derecho a la igualdad como una de las premisas principales, y que como mujeres debemos seguir reclamando para alcanzar el lugar que nos corresponde en el ámbito laboral, político y social.

Ante nosotras se plantea el importante reto de alcanzar los órganos de decisión de empresas y organismos, romper los techos de cristal en las administraciones públicas y privadas, así como equiparar la relevancia en la titularidad de las tierras de cultivo en nuestros campos. Todas juntas avanzaremos más y mejor, y para que esto sea posible AFAMMER seguirá luchando por todas las mujeres del ámbito rural dentro y fuera de nuestras fronteras. Hoy, en este encuentro, damos un paso más, colocándonos en la agenda de la actualidad mundial y en los medios que dan cuenta de ella; pero esto es solo un gran paso, de los muchos que nos quedan por dar.

Muchas gracias a todas por vuestra valentía y por vuestro esfuerzo diario para transformar la realidad del medio rural para que sea más justo e igualitario: solo así los pueblos del mundo podrán sobrevivir y progresar. Recordad siempre que juntas avanzamos, que gracias a la fuerza de la unidad hemos llegado hasta aquí.

We move towards equalityDear friends, today I am especially proud of who we are and what we work for when we share this II International Congress with all of you: "The voice of rural women in the world", a forum to exchange concerns, vital experiences and above all, the knowledge that has brought us here and which is the subject of progress to achieve real equality in the global society in which we live. With that purpose, AFAMMER emerged 36 years ago: giving voice to rural women; and not only from this country, but from all over the world, taking our cause to all the national and international organizations, which have supported the proposals that have arisen from our association and that we can proudly say, have contributed to diminish social inequalities, by leading important causes throughout these intense years of work.

The empowerment of rural women is key in fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda to build a better world in which no one is left behind, where the quality of life, employment and social infrastructures remove the risk of depopulation and poverty of our habitat.

In this II Congress we want also to celebrate the important role that the Spanish Constitution has had in our life as an association, which today turns 40 years old and that since its drafting maintains the right to equality as one of the main premises, that as women, we must keep claiming to reach the place that corresponds to us in work, politics and social environment. Before us, an important challenge is posed, which is to reach the control bodies of companies and organizations, break the glass ceilings in public and private administrations, as well as equating the relevance in the ownership of farmland in our countryside. Together we will move forward more and better, and for this to be possible, AFAMMER will continue to fight for all rural women inside and outside our borders. Today, in this meeting, we take a step further, placing ourselves on the agenda of the current world and in the media that account for it; but this is just one big step, of the many that we haveleft to give.

Thank you very much everyone for your courage and your daily effort to transform the reality of the rural environment to make it more just and egalitarian: only in this way will the peoples of the world be able to survive and progress. Always remember that together we advance, that thanks to the strength of unity we have come this far.

OBJECTIVES AND CHALLENGES

Por segunda vez, AFAMMER celebra un Congreso Internacional, en el que participan mujeres de todo el mundo, que acercarán hasta España la preocupación y el trabajo para conseguir la igualdad en el medio rural, un espacio históricamente reservado a los hombres, que a base de trabajo, formación y talento, las mujeres están consiguiendo equiparar, ocupando el lugar que siempre les ha correspondido.

Convocar el II Congreso Internacional: “La voz de las mujeres rurales en el Mundo”, responde a la necesidad de seguir escuchando las necesidades de las mujeres en todo el planeta, para establecer una hoja de ruta que sirva para elevar a todos los organismos nacionales e internacionales, aquello que se puede hacer para mejorar su situación y que tienen la obligación de ejecutar para construir un mundo más estable y más justo.

Hablar de la mujer rural es hacerlo del futuro. Sin ellas no podrá hablarse de la supervivencia de nuestros pueblos, de más de la mitad de la mano de obra que asegura la estabilidad económica de los países y que aseguran la producción de alimentos, necesarios para mantener la seguridad alimentaria a nivel mundial.

En este segundo Congreso Internacional, que con tanto cariño ha preparado AFAMMER, hablaremos de la importancia de la Constitución española de 1978, que cuarenta años después, ha servido para construir una democracia estable en España y que sirve como ejemplo para el resto de países, basado en un modelo constitucionalista estable y de derechos.

Aprovechando que los medios internacionales fijarán la atención en este foro de debate, trataremos de elevar la voz por todas las mujeres rurales, que cada día despiertan con los sueños intactos y las ganas de seguir creciendo como lema de vida.

Por todas nosotras y por todas ellas, debemos seguir trabajando, siendo este Congreso Internacional un eje de donde partirán muchas actuaciones para conseguir que el DERECHO A LA IGUALDAD, sea una realidad para todas las mujeres rurales del mundo.


For the second time, AFAMMER will celebrate an International Congress, in which women from all over the world will participate, they will bring to Spain the concern and work to achieve equality in rural areas, a space historically reserved to men, where women are getting equal thanks to their work, training and talent, occupying the place they always deserved.

The call for this II International Congress: "The voice of rural women in the world", comes from the need to continue listening to the needs of women around the world, in order to set a road map that can be disseminated through all national and international agencies, on what can be done to improve their situation and that they have the obligation to implement so that we can build a morestable and fairer world.

When we talk about rural women, we are talking about future. Without them, we cannot speak of the survival of our peoples, more than half of the workforce that ensures the economic stability of the countries as well as the production of food, necessary to maintain food security worldwide.

In this second International Congress, which has been prepared by AFAMMER with such attentiveness, we will talk about the importance of the Spanish Constitution, which forty years later, has served to build a stable democracy in Spain and serves as an example for the rest of the countries.

Taking advantage of the fact that the international media will focus attention on this debate forum, we will try to raise our voices for all rural women, who wake up every day with intact dreams and the desire to continue growing as a motto of life.

For all of us and for all of them, we must continue working, this International Congress is the axis from which many actions will take place to ensure that the EQUALITY becomes a fact for all rural women in theworld.
