Operations Centre officially opens in Teviotdale The County of Wellington and the Ontario Provincial Police held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 20 to mark the official opening of the North Wellington O.P.P. Operations Centre. The award winning architectural firm +VG has designed the new 18,600 square-foot facility, and Collaborative Structures Limited of Cambridge built the facility. 2014 Roads Capital Projects Highlights • Asphalt paving projects on County Roads 10, 16 and 39 that will be completed over July/August. • Construction of Passing lanes on Wellington Road 7 between Second Line and Eighth Line in Centre Wellington. • Left turn lane installation on Wellington Road 124 at Jones Baseline in Guelph/Eramosa along with paving Wellington Road 124 from the City limits to the hamlet of Eramosa. • Reconstruction of Wellington Road 29 from Barden Street to Arkell Road in the hamlet of Eden Mills. As a reminder the summer brings increased construction on our roads. Keep road workers safe by being prepared to stop and/or slowing down in construction zones. Emergency Preparedness Week 2014 Generator Draw Winner This year’s Emergency Preparedness week focus was on preparing for power outages. To help residents Be Better Prepared the County of Wellington held a draw for a generator. Individuals entered ballots across the County at all library branches, municipal offices and the Fergus Home and Leisure Show. The winner of the draw was Barb Lee from Elora! Congratulations Barb! There were also two runner up weather radio prizes awarded to Megan Tenage of Fergus and Eric Szablowski of Arthur. TumbleBooks features fun and free interactive reading! TumbleBooks features fun, animated talking books to help kids strengthen their reading skills and build vocabulary. There are two Tumble databases for kids: TumbleBooks Library for Grades K-6 and TumbleBookCloud Jr for Grades 3-6. Kids can read along or have books read out loud to them, then play a game or take a quiz afterwards. Look for favourites like Robert Munsch, The Canadian Flyer series, and Caillou, plus books about numbers, non-fiction, graphic novels, and more. TumbleBookCloud Jr has chapter books, readalongs, and videos from great producers like National Geographic. If you are a teacher, look for the lesson plans that accompany many of the books.
