Maximum protection in hazardous areas.Inductive sensors for ATEX 3D (zone 22) and 3G (zone 2).The 4 joules impact test guarantees high mechanical stability of the housing. Full metal sensors as threaded M12, M18 and M30 types. M12 connector ecolink for ATEX categories 2D / 3D / 3G. High vibration and shock resistance.

EU-wide explosion protection The ATEX directive 94/9/EC (ATEX) sets out detailed rules for explosion prevention. This sensor family passed a very demanding test series of artificial ageing, 4 joules impact test and subsequent protection rating test. The result: the sensor housings are designed to ensure that, even in the toughest conditions they will not become an ignition source in explosive dusts or gaseous atmospheres. This guarantees maximum protection in hazardous areas. Only safe with the matching connection ifm ecolink series connectors also comply with the strict requirements of the standard and are therefore allowed for use in hazardous areas of the categories 2D, 3D and 3G.

product news Position sensors and object recognition

Safe detection of metal.Safe state is reached when damped.Fail-safe inductive sensor without magnetic or coded target. 2 OSSD outputs for connection to a safety relay or safety PLC. Diagnosis of different operating states via LED indication. Easy integration in the machine due to flush mounting. Certified to ISO 13849-1 PL d, IEC 61508 SIL 2 and IEC 62061 SIL cl2.

Applications The safety function of the sensor allows the user to solve some applications easier than before. If there is no metal in the sensor field, the outputs are enabled. If there is metal in the sensor field, the outputs are safely switched off. Example crane bridge monitoring A fail-safe sensor monitors the position of the crane on the rail. So far the sensor was damped across the whole travel; the sensor was undamped only at the stop positions. This new fail-safe sensor allows mounting of only one damping element each at the beginning and the end of the crane bridge which saves material and mounting cost.

Position sensors and object recognition

product news Position sensors and object recognition

Touch sensitive sensors compatible with automotive applications.Capacitive touch sensors for installation on walls.Non-contact switching, no pressure necessary, wear and tear-free. Optical feedback by LEDs in case of switching. Oil-resistant; protection rating IP 69K; impact and scratch resistant. Easy wiring thanks to tried-and-tested 3-wire technology.

Technology The capacitive measuring principle detects an approaching human hand. Dynamic touch sensors suppress interference such as water, layers of ice or foreign bodies to a large extent. However, a gloved hand will still trigger them. Static touch sensors detect hands and objects for as long as the sensing face is damped. Touch sensors also work through glass. Compared to mechanical switches the sensors operate without wear. Since they react to contact, no pressure is required for activation which means considerably increased ease of use.

product news Position sensors and object recognition

Optical distance sensors with sun protection factor.PMD distance sensors O1D now insensitive to extraneous light up to 100,000 lux.Optical distance detection with a range of up to 10 m. 2 switching outputs; one output can be configured as analogue output. Scalable detection range and window function. Can be used in applications needing background suppression. Extensive range of fixing components.

No interference caused by extraneous light The new generation of the popular O1D sensors with the innovative on-chip time-of-flight measurement system based on PMD technology (Photonic Mixer Device) operates reliably with extraneous light of up to 100,000 lux. This exceeds the values of standard optical sensors many times over and corresponds to the light conditions on a bright summer day with direct sunlight. These sensors can be used in workshops where daylight hits the sensor or target from above. Even reflective objects such as metal surfaces are reliably detected or reflective strips on high-vis vests reliably suppressed.

Ensure oil remains dry!Combined oil moisture and temperature sensor.Continuous condition monitoring of oils. Two analogue outputs (4...20 mA) for relative humidity and temperature. Wide input voltage range 9...33 V DC. Medium temperature -20...100 C. G 3/4" process connection for direct mounting.

Application Water is generally not wanted in hydraulic liquids and lubricants. High concentrations of water can seriously affect operation or even cause damage. Measuring principle The sensor measures the relative humidity in the oil in the range of 0...100 % by means of a capacitive measuring element. At 0 % the oil is absolutely without any water content. At 100 %, however, the medium is completely saturated. No more water is dissolved and is then present as free water. Besides the relative humidity the sensor also outputs the medium temperature as an analogue signal.

Mechatronic flow sensor for high temperatures.Measurement of liquids up to 180 C.For flow ranges of 0.3...25 l/min. Analogue output signal 4...20 mA. Simple and robust. Fast response time 10ms. Pressure ranges up to 15 bar.

Mechatronic flow sensor The flow sensor works to the principle of spring-supported piston: the piston, located in the valve seat in the housing, is lifted by the flowing medium against the spring resistance. The piston position is monitored via a magnetic-field sensor and is output as an analogue signal. The spring resistance forces the piston to return to its original position with decreasing flow. This ensures position-independent installation of the flow sensor preventing backflow. Due to the temperature decoupling of the transducer from the electronics, this sensor is especially suitable for media in high temperature applications of up to 180 C. The units are maintenance-free.

Fluid sensors and diagnostic systems

product news Fluid sensors and diagnostic systems

To prevent your money from dissolving into thin air.Compressed air meter with display and totalizer function.Measurement to ISO 2533 and DIN 1343 possible. For compressed air in industrial use, argon, carbon dioxide, nitrogen. Large measuring range up to 700 Nm3/h. Larger measuring ranges on request. Fast response time and high response sensitivity. Volumetric flow quantity, flow velocity and temperature indication.

Calorimetric measuring principle The compressed air meter detects the standard volume flow directly (according to ISO 2533 and DIN 1343). This makes corrections, in case of temperature or pressure fluctuations, unnecessary. The high measurement dynamics of the system enable the reliable detection of even minute quantities, e.g. leakage. High accuracy and repeatability are ensured by the integration of the measurement sensors key elements into a defined pipe length. Measuring compressed air consumption in air supply lines We offer additional compressed air sensors for larger measuring ranges on request, especially for supply and air supply lines. As an option compressed air sensors with exchangeable electronics, allowing subsequent calibration under operating pressure, can also be used.

product news Fluid sensors and diagnostic systems

Pressure sensor with choice of switch points or analogue values.PN7 pressure sensor with communication interface IO-Link 1.1.Parameter setting, diagnosis and transmission of process values via IO-Link. High switch point accuracy and switching frequency. Ceramic measuring cell for more than 100 million switching operations. Dual independent switching outputs or switching and diagnostic output. Different versions with pressure ranges between -1...600 bar.

PN7 pressure sensor upgraded with IO-Link IO-Link is a simple, point-to-point, communication protocol between an IO-Link enabled device, such as a sensor or actuator, and an IO-Link master. IO-Link advantages The IO-Link circuit allows the process measurement data, parameters and diagnostic information to be transmitted using the standard connection cable. For example, the pressure measurement can be transferred as a digital value directly to the PLC. The measurement is more accurate, free from conversion errors. IO-Link masters can also store the set up parameters of their sensors. If the original sensor is damaged, then the IO-Link master will recognise its "blank" replacement and automatically download the stored set up into the newly connected sensor, saving time and avoiding errors.

A single voltage source can hereby supply several gateways and their AS-i networks. Power supplies with a voltage of 30 V (DC or AS-i) allow any possible AS-i structure at full cable length. The use of a 24 V power supply offers the advantage of AS-i power24: For AS-i networks of up to 50 m the introduction of the bus system AS-interface will become even more cost-efficient. Transfer of AS-i data PLC user programs of existing plant can be changed to the new AS-i gateways of the third generation without any changes to the I /O addresses.

Bus system AS-interface

Functions The AS-i safety monitor controls, in the AS-i network, the code sequences which are to be transmitted. In the case of message deviations or timeouts it ensures the safe state of the system. The unit has two safe semi-conductor outputs. It is possible to trigger up to six further safe outputs independently in the field. The AS-i safety monitor can be integrated into the AS-i system at any position. Several AS-i safety monitors can be operated via one AS-i master. So grouping is possible to evaluate the safe AS-i slaves without problem. Known safety relay functions like "e-stop", "stop categories 0 or 1", "two-hand operation", "enable switch" can be implemented via the software. One AS-i safety monitor thus replaces many traditional safety relays. Advantages and customer benefits Due to the extension of Safety at Work safe and non safe I /O signals can be transmitted via the same AS-i bus. The safety-related extension is fully downward compatible and can be retrofitted on existing installations. All masters, power supplies and bus components can still be used. Application There is a wide range of applications for the new generation of the AS-i Safety at Work safety monitors. Wherever a decentralised safety technology is important, AS-i safety monitors can be used. In conveying, special machines, handling and the food industry these safety-related assemblies have established themselves.
