BENEFITS & REQUIREMENTS
The 2018/2019 US portion of the IFF ReMix International Fur Design Competition is now
open! We invite your students to participate in this exciting event which
promises learning, relationship building and potential worldwide travel and
exposure to icons of fashion world.
CONTEST BENEFITS:
Worldwide exposure and a chance to have your students’ designs
exhibited at MiFur 2019 the prestigious international fur fashion
trade show held in Milan, Italy.
The chance to win generous cash prizes
The chance to receive paid travel to Milan for MiFur 2019
Opportunity to work hands- on with renowned designers and manufacturers to gain
valuable access and exposure within luxury fur industry
Inclusion in extensive public relations campaign/promotion throughout the US (winning
students)
Exposure in leading international fashion magazines (Vogue)
Possibility of attending fur summer school program in Kastoria, Greece (all expenses
paid)
Possibility of attending NAFA fur summer school program in Toronto, Canada (all
expenses paid)
Possibility of attending SAGA Furs Design Program in Denmark (all expenses paid)
All entries submitted must be the work of the designer. Entries will only be accepted from
design students who are currently studying or have graduated from design school within four
years from the date of entry to the competition. Students must be able to, have knowledge
of, how to work with patterns and canvas enough to provide your design team with
workable layout of your design.
REMIX Women’s Design Category- The Remix International Fur
Design Category is the main category for students to enter. Garments/designs can be of any nature (i.e. coats/jackets, suites, capes, shirts, dresses etc.)
ONLY 2 finalists in total will be chosen; both in the main ReMIX category
ENTRY CRITERIA Please sign and complete the attached entry form and include the correct supporting information as indicated below:
Completed Contest Entry Form (please include a separate form for each entry)
Student Bio (include previous work history/internships)
Photo/Headshot of student
At least (1) Color Rendition / Sketch of original garment(s) concept being submitted in electronic
jpeg file no larger than 2MB sent via email to [email protected]
Explanation of Inspiration and process/mood board for each submitted sketch
2 Photos of (2) other completed fashion projects/ pieces (must be full fur or fur-trimmed garments, or accessories)
All entries submitted must be the work of the designer. Entries will only be accepted from design students who are currently studying or have graduated from design school within four years from the date of entry to the competition.
The judges’ decision will be final. **If selected, student must be ready, willing and able to adapt original design to pelts available at time of production **

Garment will be available for shipping to MIFUR 2019 to arrive by early February, 2019.

Important Deadlines
All entries must be sent to the FICA Office by Monday, February 12, 2018
Due to tight production deadlines, we encourage students work on their submissions throughout the school year and scheduled breaks. NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GIVEN!

Color drawing / sketch or rendition (jpeg file no larger than 2MB)

Brief biography of the designer
Student headshot
Student designer must also submit 2 additional images featuring previously
designed garments/items with fur, or fur trim (This will be used in the overall judging phase to gain a better grasp on student’s depth of design knowledge)
KEY DUE DATES
1. Monday, February 12, 2018 sketch, application and deadline due in to FICA office.
2. On, or around, Thursday, March 1st, 2018 results are released on the U.S. 2 finalists and participating school administrators and students are contacted. Winning students should be ready, willing, and able to travel (between March 2018 – October 2018) to work on the construction of their garment. **Please note that final design direction/instruction/recommendations are given by the design team director that the student is paired up with.
3. Monday, November 19, 2018 (tentitive) by which time the FICA office must receive
professional- looking images of finished garments from the 3 winning US students. Past students have staged fashion photoshoots to best showcase their garment and any accompanying accessories.
4. Early February, 2019 (approximate date) by which time all garments must be ready to go to
MiFur 2019. The FICA Offices will notify finalists, if selected by international judging committee, if garment(s) is to be carried over to Milan personally by participant.
Please note that we cannot be flexible in these key dates due to production timelines. Any entries, or Garments, not received in time will be excluded from the competition.
