If you could see me now,

you wouldn't shed a tear.

Though you may not understand

why I'm no longer here.

Remember my spirit, that's the real me.

I'm still very much alive, oh, if you could only see!

I've beheld our Father's face.

I've touched my Savior's hand.

The angels all rejoiced as I entered the Promised Land.

Beyond the gates of pearl,

I walk on golden streets.

I've touched the walls of jasper,

dipped my foot in the crystal sea.

The beauty is beyond words,

nothing can compare.

I've even seen your mansion;

someday I will meet you there.

Allow Jesus to be your guide,

His word will show you the way.

So, please, don't cry!

We will meet again someday!

A special life has passed from our sight, but never from our hearts. Mr. Darrell

Keith “Bird” Robinson, Sr., formerly of Gadsden, South Carolina, but resided in

Columbia, South Carolina, was born on July 18, 1966. He was the son of Dorothy

Jones Edmond and the late James Thomas Robinson. Darrell was reared in the

home of his grandparents, the late Deacon Ben and Lucille Jones. He departed

this earthly life on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Palmetto Health Richland in

Columbia.

Darrell was a member of Saint Mark Baptist Church in Gadsden, South Carolina,

where he was baptized at an early age. A proud, Diamond Hornet, “Bird”, as he

was affectionately known, was a 1984 graduate of Lower Richland High School.

At Lower Richland he was a member of JROTC and the wrestling team. After

high school, Darrell joined the United States Army (active duty) and later the

Army Reserves from 1987 to 1990. He continued his education at Limestone

College, where he majored in Business Administration. Darrell was united in

marriage to Karen Grady. To this union, three children were born.

Darrell was a kind-hearted, generous person who never met a stranger. He

always carried a smile and was known for his witty personality.

He leaves to reminisce of the joy and laughter shared through the years, his

sons: Darrell Jr. and Jermaine Robinson of Columbia, South Carolina and

Tremaine Robinson of Rock Hill, South Carolina; his mother, Dorothy Jones

Edmond of Columbia, South Carolina; his brother, Donald Robinson of

Gadsden, South Carolina; cousins reared in the home, Dr. Shirley Jones Lathon

of Newnan, Georgia and Barbara Jones Lowe of Belmont, North Carolina;

stepfather, Will Edmond of Lexington, South Carolina; stepmother, Anne

Robinson of New Carrollton, Maryland; and stepsister, Juanita Brown of Ridge

Spring, South Carolina. He also leaves his best friend, Yancy Pinckney of

Columbia, South Carolina and as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts,

uncles, and other loving relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Darrell was predeceased by two brothers, David Tyron Robinson and Ronald

“Boss” Robinson.

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set me free.

I want no rites in a gloom filled room.

Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not too long,

And not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love that we once shared,

Miss me but let me go.

For this is a journey that we must all take

And each must go alone,

It’s all part of the Master’s plan,

A step on the road home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart

Go to the friends we know,

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.

Miss me but let me go.
