I find Twitter bios curious.

This is a collection of curious bios that I’ve stumbled upon in the line of duty

over a period of 18 months or so.

“If I could summarise myself in a sentence, I would.”

Summarising yourself in a sentence is one thing.

Doing so in such a way as to pique the reader’s curiosity is quite

another.

Have I got my views for you?

“All views my own” and variations on that theme is a familiar Twitter bio

convention.

And familiarity breeds curiously contemptuous bastardisations of that

convention.

Smug strategy cockbags?

Twitter has more than its fair share of genuine, bona fide, smug strategy

cockbags.

The curious thing is that quite a few seem to have amassed large numbers

of followers.

Fortunately and more curiously, those real-deal smug strategy cockbags have spawned just as many smug

strategy cockbag parody bios.

Oh this old thing? I made it myself.

Curious and cool is tough to pull off in a Twitter bio. The margin for error is

small.

It’s the social media equivalent of trying ever so hard to make it look

like you haven’t made an effort with the clothes that you’re wearing.

The secret, it would seem, is total randomness.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

How many Twitter bios really tell you anything revealing (and therefore

curious) about the person or organisation behind them?

A bio is not a biography. It’s a personal ad. The best bios are edited

highlights of the whole truth, well told.
