End-to-End SecurityEnd-to-End Security5. SECURE, SECURE, SECURE!!!

Don’t bet your career on: “it’s secure, trust me…”remember your company’s secrets are at stake!Make sure you ask:

• Is your solution secure END-to-END?(Is the data ever decrypted and re-encrypted before reaching the Handheld or Server behind your corporate firewall?)

• Does your solution implementstrong security such as Triple-DES? (168 bits)

• Does your solution rely on theWireless Carrier’s Network encryption?

• Does your solution require a VPNconnection to the Wireless Carrier’sNetwork Gateway?

BlackBerry Meets NSA’s S/MIME Email Security BlackBerry Meets NSA’s S/MIME Email Security StandardStandard

• S/MIME (Security/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) is an email security standard designed to meet stringent security requirements

• The National Security Agency will use BlackBerry with S/MIME capabilities to deploy this secure email standard on BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds used by various government organizations, including the Department of Defense

• S/MIME is an email-system independent, Internet standards based protocol that utilizes public key cryptography to provide writer-to-reader security, including confidentiality, message integrity and sender authentication

• S/MIME extends the security of existing mail systems and allows for secure communications between individuals in different organizations
