Position Statement

"  Organizing annually technical workshops, seminar series and annually conference in the field of electrical and electronics engineering and IT at Bahrain.

" 2)  Establishing active student branches at universities and institutes in Bahrain where student can involve and find competitions, scholarships, awards, continuing education courses, certifications, workshops and seminars.

" 3)  Increase number of IEEE members and their engagements, encourage students to join IEEE societies and improve relationships between members.

" 4)  Creating a proper web portal platform that offers members information about chapter activities, events and achievements.

" 5)  Building effective bridges between research and industry through connecting universities and research agencies to industrialists and entrepreneurs in Bahrain, GCC and Region 8.

REGION 8 OUTSTANDING SECTION AWARD " Section submission of financial, officer and meeting reports is a

necessary condition for award. nomination;

" Data concerning member retention of the section.

" Data about number of Student Branches relative to the number of Technical universities within the Section’s geographic boundaries;

" Report concerning the activities of GOLD / WIE / Life Members Affinity Groups … etc. within the Section, or the plans for their formation ;

" Report about Student Branches activities (e.g. Student paper contest, recruitment of Student members, etc.);

As such, the Branch Counselor is a key individual whose participation is vital to the success of a Branch.!

" advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession;

" EEE Women in Engineering (WIE) provides members with the opportunity to network at a local level through WIE affinity groups. Currently, there are over 355 IEEE WIE Affinity Groups worldwide that organize and host diverse activities including guest speakers, workshops, and/or seminars.

" B. maintaining a current record of Section membership.

" C. analyzing Section membership information and identifying membership problems and opportunities.

" D. Submits requests as needed for membership development materials, including posters and applications, to IEEE Section.

" E. Coordinates membership exhibits for local conferences, including, soliciting materials for exhibits, identifying volunteers to staff booth.

" F. Provides quarterly membership status report with recommendations to Section Executive Committee & Regional Membership Development Officer.

Technical Chapter Chairs Power & Computer ( previously but idle now)

" Work with section to develop technical programs that enhance the chapter activity.

" Identify section/chapter best practices and work to implement throughout the other sections in Region 8.

" Work with Societies to improve relations and develop programs to be implemented at the chapter level.

" Establish a relationship with the societies to enable the region/sections to participate in the Society conferences.

Steps to form a new IEEE Society Chapter,

1. the Chapter Organizer must gather 12 or more signatures from IEEE Members on a Society Chapter petition.

2. Signers must be members of the Society, and higher grade members (no students, nor affiliates).

3. Approval is required from the Section and Society that will be represented.

4. In many cases, a Chapter may already exist which can be expanded to include members of another Technical Society or in an adjoining Section.
