This chapter provides information about IEC 61850 SCADA configuration you must know beforeconfiguring it in an network.

2.1 About IEC 61850

This section gives an overview about IEC 61850 and lists the available IEC 61850 standards.

2.1.1 About IEC 61850

IEC 61850 is a standard for the design of electrical substation automation, prepared andpublished by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

IEC 61850 is the standard protocol used for communication between Data Acquisition (SCADA)and Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) in the transmission and distribution industries forsubstation automation. IEC 61850 utilizes TCP/IP networks or substation LAN using high speedswitched Ethernet to obtain the necessary response times for protective relaying.

The IEC 61850 standards specification document is available in the IEC website(http://www.iec.ch).

2.1.2 IEC 61850 features

Some of the features of IEC 61850 include.

l Enables use of multi-vendor electrical devices on a common bus network facilitatingintegration, device engineering and fast response.

l Ensures easy introduction of newer devices into the electrical network without the need forremoving the older devices.

l Supports large number of diagnostic parameters.

l Reduces costs of installation, commissioning andmaintenance.

2.2 IEC 61850system interface in

This section gives an overview of the integration and topology of IEC 61850system interface inand its usage in the environment.

Using IEC 61850 client interface in , monitoring and control of industrial process electrificationsystem can be done as described in the topologies below.

In smaller industrial systems with less than 200 IEDs, the following topologies are supported.

l Configuration A: Integration of small systems LAN

l Configuration B: Integration of small systems using PRP/HSR

In larger industrial systems with more than 200 IEDs, the following topologies are supportedwhere multiple substations are monitored individually using data concentrators and overall plantmanagement is done at remote control centres. Data concentrators can integrate up to 200 IEDs,by converting IEC 61850MMS data from IEDs to DSA. Thus, enabling the monitoring and controlof overall plant from remote control centre. You can integrate as many as IEDs based on thistopology without crossing the DSA limits.

l Configuration C: Integration of larger systems using data concentrators (PRP/HSR and LAN )

l Configuration D: Integration of larger systems using data concentrators (PRP/HSR andPRP/HSR)

When one has to integrate both Electrical Control System and Process Control System, Experionsupports the following topologies where one can communicate the IEDs , Controllers (C300) andExperion Process Control Server as below.

l Configuration E: Integration of Process Control System and Electrical Control System.

2.2.1 Configuration A: Integration of small systems using LAN

In industrial systems where there are less than 200 IEDs in the system, you can integrate IEC61850 systems into servers by enabling IEC 61850 license. If the IEDs are not PRP-enabled, thenthe supported network topology is LAN.

2.2.2 Configuration B: Integration of small systems using PRP/HSR

In industrial systems where there are less than 200 IEDs in the system, you can integrate IEC61850 systems into servers by enabling IEC 61850 license. If the IEDs are PRP-enabled, then thesupported network topology is PRP.

ATTENTION

You can connect non-PRP IEDs and GPS as singly attached node (SAN) or doubly attachednodes (DAN) using a REDBOX.

2.2.3 Configuration C: Integration of larger systems using dataconcentrators (PRP/HSR and LAN)

If the DSA network is on LAN and IEC 61850MMS network is on PRP, then the following topology issupported.

ATTENTION

In similar manner, IEDs can be connected in HSR topologies.

2.2.4 Configuration D: Integration of larger systems using dataconcentrators (PRP/HSRand PRP/HSR)

If both DSA network and IEC 61850MMS network is on PRP, then the following topology issupported.

2.4 Overview

The IEC 61850 system configurator tool is used for configuring the following:

l IEDs in substations.

l Electrical point tag names, state descriptors, alarms, priorities, SOE, trends, groups, andhistory.

l IEC 61850 Report Control Blocks.

After configuring the system, you can download the points to to see them in the Station andupload the changes done in Station back to the database.

IEC 61850 service is authorized to allow certain roles, so that it cannot be misused by non-IECapplications. The following users from these roles/user groups are authorized to use the service:

1. Local Engineers

2. Local Supervisors

3. Product Administrators.

This tool also provides information about the following IEC 61850 parameters.

l Data model

l Dataset

l Report Control Blocks of the IEDs

The tool consists of four views as shown below.

Toolbar view

Use the Toolbar view to launch actions that the tool can perform. All the operations can beperformed only from the Toolbar view.

Tree view

Use the Tree view to browse data model of the IEDs and understand the structure of the IEDs. TheTree view also filters points displayed in the List view by displaying only points that belong to theselected category.

List view

Use the List view to see points and IEDs based on their selection in the Tree view. The followingfilters can be used in the List view.

l Dataset: Only points that are present in the dataset of the IEDs are displayed.

l Downloaded: Displays points that are downloaded to .

l Not downloaded: Displays points that are not downloaded to .

ATTENTION

The default filter displayed is the dataset. The icons are in blue color when they are notdownloaded to and in green color when they are downloaded to .

Tab view

Use the Tab view to configure points and IED properties.

ATTENTION

After modifying the parameters, you are prompted to save the changes when the focusmoves to other points.

Chapter 2 - Introduction

Terminology Description

Asset

Assets represent entities such as fixed plant equipment, materials, and buildings.The Asset Model provides a hierarchical structure that more closely resembles yourorganization.

The points in your system belong to assets. For example, you might have an assetthat represents a furnace in your plant. All the points associated with the physicalfurnace (analog points measuring the temperature, status points controlling valvesor pumps associated with the furnace) might belong to the asset that represents thefurnace.

The part of the system for which you are responsible can be controlled by assignedassets to you or the Station you are using. In addition, where assets have beenassigned to you, the tasks that you can perform can be restricted. For example, youmay have View access to an asset in your system. In this case, you can only viewitems associated with the asset, you cannot make any changes, such asacknowledging alarms or changing a point parameter.

Channel The communications port used by the server to connect to an IED.

DAI Instantiated Data Attribute

Display

Station uses displays to present information to operators in a manner that they canunderstand. The style and complexity of displays varies according to the type ofinformation being presented. Displays are sometimes called pages, a term which isused for Web pages.

Dual homeDual-home/ dual homing is a network topology where a network device is built withmore than one network interface.

Faceplate

A specialized popup that shows a subset of the details shown on the matching pointdetail (or template) display. It typically shows the point's run-time values and controlsettings. A faceplate appears when an operator clicks an object that is linked to apoint.

IEC International Electrotechnical Commission.

IED

Intelligent Electronic Device

An intelligent control andmessaging device used for interfacing substationautomation controllers and networks to target electrical equipment such as relays,circuit breakers, and so on.

IEDtechnicalname

The IED name configured by the vendor. It is also known as IED network name.

Integrityperiod

The Period in milliseconds (ms) at which the Report Control Blocks (RCB) arerequired to report in regular intervals.

Parameter

Each item of information about a point is called a parameter. The main parametersstore:

l The current value or state of the point (sometimes referred to as ProcessVariable or PointValue/PointState).

l The uncalibrated value of the point (sometimes referred to as output orOutputValue/OutputState).

l The control state of the point, that is, whether the point is being automaticallycontrolled or manually controlled (sometimes referred to as Mode orModeState).

Point

A point is a collection of information about a particular part of your system. Forexample, a point representing a motor would include:

l A Point name, which uniquely identifies the motor.

l A description.

l A full item name.

l The current state (off or on). The desired state. This is applicable if you areallowed to control the point. For example, if current state of the motor is "On"you can change the real state of the motor to "Off" using the display.

PointParameter

A unit of information about a point. For example, an analog point includesparameters such as: process variable parameter (PointValue) and output parameter(OutputValue).

Point Server

A high-level interface that allows to exchange data with another application orsubsystem without the need for separately defining points in .

The database structure of a point on a point server (called a flexible point) isdetermined by the application/subsystem, rather than by .

PointValue The process variable parameter of a standard point.

REDBOX

Redundancy box

Redbox is a switch that enables non-HSR or non-PRP nodes like the 850M toconnect to an HSR or PRP network.

SOE Indicates the Sequence Of Events.

SLDGenerator

SLD Generator tool (Single Line Diagram Generator tool) creates single-linediagrams (SLD) for electrical substations from substation configuration description(SCD) and substation specification description (SSD) files.

2.6 Package information

The IEC 61850media contains two folders.

l IEC 61850 software installation – This contains the setup.exe file required to install IEC 61850.

l PRP MUX software installation – This contains the setup.exe file required to install PRP driver.

INSTALLATION AND UPGRADES

3.1 Hardware requirements

The hardware requirements for installing the IEC 61850 are same as those for installing Experion.

3.3 Prerequisites

The IEC 61850 system interface license should be enabled before you begin installation.

ATTENTIONEnsure that there is no folder with share name as IEC61850.

3.3.1 To enable the IEC 61850client interface

1. Procure a license as mentioned in section "Software requirements" on the previous page.

2. Change the license.

3. Verify if all the necessary license options are enabled.

3.4 Installation

IEC 61850 system interface software components are installed while installing Experion. Thesecomponents are installed on Experion nodes supporting IEC 61850 system interface software.

Before you begin installation, check for IEC 61850 system interface license by performing thefollowing steps.

1. Start Station and then click Configure > Server License Details.

The Server License Details page appears.

2. Click the Interfaces tab.

Verify the status for the IEC 61850 System Interface.

l Green LED before the component indicates that you have the license option enabled.

l Black LED before the component indicates you do not have the license.

The SLD Generator tool (Single Line Diagram Generator tool) creates single-line diagrams (SLD)for electrical substations from substation configuration description (SCD) and substationspecification description (SSD) files. This tool assists you to create Experion HMIWeb DisplayBuilder graphics pages by showing the information on how electrical power systems areconnected and helps managing electrical network.

SLD Generator tool parses SCD/SSD files and generates/updates the graphic that can be viewedin Station/ HMI Web Display Builder.

The following figure explains the working process of the SLD Generator tool.

4.1.1 Prerequisites for SLD Generator tool

According to the IEC 61850 standards, the SCD file must have the following information togenerate a single-line diagram.

l Voltage levels

l Bays

l Conducting Equipments

l Connectivity nodes

l Co-ordinates

4.2 Dual home configurations for SCADA server

l Ensure that the lower MAC address is selected for FTE network installation. As the Dell serverslike Dell 320 have four built-in NIC interfaces, ensure to use the first two NICs for FTEconnection and other two NICs for IEC 61850 network connections. If you have installedadditional dual NICs on two NIC built-in type server, ensure that lower MAC address NIC isselected for FTE. With this setup, installation automatically selects the lower MAC interfaces(first two interface of built-in NICs) for FTE and systemmanagement and also sets properbinding order that FTEMUX is on top .

l Disable the IP routing between the FTE interfaces and the IEC 61850 interfaces.

l Disable Microsoft Windows Client and File Sharing for the IEC 61850 ports on the SCADAserver.

l Change the TCP/IPv4 interface metric on both the IEC 61850 interfaces to 5 and 10, anddisable netBIOS on both IEC 61850 interfaces.

l Do not include a gateway address on either IEC 61850 interface with an assumption thatgateway address is already defined on the FTEMUX.

4.2.1 To verify IP routing is disabled

1. Choose Start > All Programs > Honeywell Experion PKS > Server > Diagnostic Tools > ExperionCommand Prompt.

The Experion Command Prompt window appears.

2. Type ipconfig /all and press ENTER.

The IP configuration details are listed.

3. In the Windows IP Configuartion section, ensure that the value of IP Routing Enabled is set asNo.

Using the Configuration Studio, you can configure IEC 61850system interface in . The system andnodes connected to the system and server are listed when the Configuration Studio is launched.

To log on, you must be a member of the Administrator group.

To start the IEC 61850 system configurator

1. Log on to the server.

2. Choose Start > All Programs > Honeywell Experion PKS > Configuration Studio.

3. Right-click Configuration Studio and then click Run as administrator.

The Connect dialog box appears.

4. In the list of systems and servers, click the system or specific server that you want to connectto and click Connect.

The Login to Server dialog box appears.

5. Log on to Configuration Studio with the required privileges.

6. On the Configuration Studio, click the IEC 61850 icon in the left pane.

IEC 61850 appears in the right pane.

7. Click Configure IEC 61850.

The IEC 61850 System Configurator tab appears next to the Configuration Explorer tab.

4.4.2 Adding IED

You can add IEDs into system by importing the IED configuration from SCL files or by importingvalues from the IED.

CAUTIONSCL files should be stored in properly access controlled location. Only administrator cancopy the vendor supplied SCL files.

TIP

As a best practice, it is recommended to add IED using SCL file. If the SCL file provided isinvalid or no SCL file is available, add the IED using Import from IED option.

To import from SCL files

1. In the Toolbar, click the icon to begin adding the IED.

The Add IED(s) dialog box appears.

2. Select Import from SCL file option and then click button.

3. Browse for the applicable SCL file, and navigate to the location of the required file and thenclick Open.

ATTENTION

The file is validated against the edition-1 or edition-2 schema to check if any errorsare displayed.

4. Click OK.

5. Change the IED name to the required reference name.

6. Select the interface in which IEDs are needed to be added.

The IED(s) are imported from the SCL file.

7. You can re-import the SCL file by selecting the Update option.

ATTENTIONl While importingmodified SCL file, IEDs are updated based on the IED Network

name. So, importing a modified SCL file with IED name change is considered asa new IED.

l Duringmodified SCL import, IED Network name should not be swapped acrossIEDs.

l For RCBs that do not end with an index, such as RCBA01, RCBA02 and so on,you must add the indexed= false tag in the RCB definition in the SCL file asfollows:

To import from IED

1. In the Toolbar, click the icon to begin adding the IED.

The Add IED(s) dialog box appears.

2. Select the option Import from IED.

3. Specify the following details.

l IED name: name of the IED.

l IED network name: name as configured in the IED.

l IP Address: IP addresses of the remote device.

l Set the Edition value.

l Set Redundant value as Yes if you have a redundant IED, and enter the IP address of theredundant IED in the IP address field.

4. Select the interface in which IEDs must be added.

5. To addmore IED, click on the + symbol on left pane.

6. Click OK.

IEDs are added successfully.

7. You can re-configure the IEDs by selecting the Update option.

ATTENTIONl If IEC 61850 System Configurator tool is launched on nodes apart from primary

server, and adding the IEDs using Import from IED option, it will affect theoperation in other nodes. You should repoen the IEC 61850 SystemConfigurator tool.

l IEDs added using Import from IED option cannot be updated using SCL file.

l Logs of Import from IED option are found only in primary server nodes.

l IED Network name is case sensitive.

4.4.3 Removing IED

This sections describes tasks to remove IEDs.

To remove IED

1. In the Toolbar, click the icon to remove the IED.

A warningmessage is displayed, asking for confirmation to delete the IED.

2. Click OK to delete the IED.

A progress bar appears, displaying the progress of deletion.

After the IED is deleted successfully, the Tree view in the left pane no longer displays the IED.

ATTENTION

Removing the IED deletes all the points related to that IED.

4.4.4 Cloning IED

As there are identical bays in the substation, their IED configuration may also be identical. You canchoose to configure one typical IED and clone them as required.

Considerations

l You can clone a maximum of 50 IEDs at a time.

l Ensure to have a list of IED network names before you begin cloning.

To clone IED

1. In the Toolbar, click the icon to clone the IED.

The Clone IED dialog box appears.

2. In the Cloning options section, enter the following details.

l Number of IEDs to be cloned in the Number of clones drop down box.

l IED name

l IED network name

l OPC server

l IP address

ATTENTIONl Ensure that you specify the IED name and OPC server before you begin

cloning IEDs.

l IED Network name must be provided appropriately for IEDs that are addedusing Import from IED option, to ensure that these IEDs can be cloned.

l IED Network name is case sensitive.

3. Click Clone.

AWarningmessage is displayed asking for confirmation to clone.

4. Click OK.

Cloning begins. The status of the clone is displayed in the Status column.

5. Repeat the previous steps to clone other IEDs. Click Close to exit.

The IEDs are displayed in the Tree view in the left pane, under their respective servers.

ATTENTION

Cloning is not supported for edition-2 IEDs where the logical device name is not asubset of IED Network name

NOTEAs a best practice, while adding IEDs using SCL file, add only the distinct IEDs andclone them later. This ensures that there is no reconfiguration.

4.4.5 Exporting IED

This section describes tasks to export IED configuration details into Microsoft Excel spreadsheet tofacilitate the user configure their system offline.

To export IED

1. In the Toolbar, click the icon to export IED.

The Export IEDs dialog box appears and the IED(s) are listed in the IED Selection List section.

2. Click the button to navigate to the path where the IED details must be exported.

The Browse For Folder dialog box appears.

3. If the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet exists in the selected folder, it is overwritten when theOverwrite Existing Files option is selected.

4. By default, only the points present in dataset are exported and you must uncheck the optionExport points in dataset to export all points.

5. In the IED Selection List section, select the IED(s) you want to export.

a. View the IED(s).

l Choose the server in the Server Name drop down box.

l Choose All option in the Server Name drop down box to view all IED(s) in the system.

b. Select the IED(s) by checking the check box next to the IED Name column.

6. Click Export

Amessage appears after the IEDs are successfully exported.

7. Click OK.

The IEC 61850 client interface configuration details are exported into a Microsoft Excelspreadsheet.

Guidelines for modifying IED values in the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet

l You can modify only existing IEDs.

l You cannot add a new IED (new row).

l Ensure that you do not copy paste content in the editable fields in the Microsoft Excelspreadsheet. Validations are not performed on copy-pasted content.

To import IED

1. In the Toolbar, click the icon to import IED.

The Import IED(s) dialog box appears and the IED(s) are listed in the IED Selection Listsection.

2. Click the button to navigate to the path where the IED details are located.

The Browse For Folder dialog box appears.

3. Browse to the required folder, select the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, and click OK.

The path where the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet is present appears in the Directory field.

4. Select the IED(s) you want to import by checking the check box next to the IED Name column.

ATTENTION

Ensure that you import the updatedMicrosoft Excel spreadsheet. Otherwise, theconfiguration done in the UI is lost. As a best practice, you can have a commondirectory to export all the Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, modify them and importback.

5. Click Import.

A message appears after the IEDs are successfully imported.

6. Click OK.

The IEC 61850 client interface configuration details are imported into a Microsoft Excelspreadsheet and displayed in the Tree view in the left pane, under the individual servers.

Scan Period Configuration

The Scan Period is used to read the data for Dataset and Non Dataset points based on theconfigured periodicity . By default, the point will be set to Scan Period as 0. If Scan Period is setother than 0, then the read operation happens from the device at the specified scan period.

CAUTIONLoad shedding files and Disturbance recording files should be stored in properly accesscontrolled location. Only administrator can copy the vendor supplied Load shedding filesand Disturbance recording files.

Manual File Services

The user can perform below File Services using IED point detailed display:

1. Read file

2. Delete file

3. Transfer file.

Read file

This operation is used to read the file content from the IED to the client (Experion server).

To read file, perform the below steps:

1. Select Read filefrom Command drop-down list.

2. Select a file from Remote file name drop-down list.

3. Type the preferred local file name in Local file name text box.

4. Click Send command.

5. Retrieved file is stored in the Output path.

Delete file

This operation allows the user to delete a file from the IED.

To delete file, perform the below steps:

1. Select Delete filefrom Command drop-down list.

2. Select a file from Remote file name drop-down list.

3. Click Send command.

Transfer file

This operation allows the user to transfer file from the client (Experion server) to IED.

To transfer file, perform the below steps:

1. Select Transfer filefrom Command drop-down list.

2. Browse and select the local file.

3. Type the Remote file name.

4. Click Send command

NOTEEnsure that the file exist in the File Transfer folder.

Automatic retrieval of COMTRADE file

The COMTRADE file can be retrieved from IED automatically by monitoring RcdMade data objectunder RDRE logical Node. When the COMTRADE file recorded in IED, then IED will set theRcdMade data attribute to 1.

The Point Scripts needs to be created for RcdMade SCADA point to retrieve the COMTRADE fileautomatically when the file is recorded in IED using FileServiceQuery and FileServiceCommandparameters available under IED SCADA point.

Below steps needs to be implemented as a part of point scripts on value change of RcdMadeSACADA point :

1. To retrieve COMTRADE file Name:

a. Write value "1" to FileServiceCommand parameter.

b. COMTRADE file name will be retrieved and updated in FileServiceQuery parameter.

2. To retrieve COMTRADE file Content:

a. Write value <COMTRADE_FILE_NAME, LOCAL_FOLDER_FILE_NAME> to FileServiceQueryparameter.

b. Write value "4" to FileServiceCommand parameter.

The COMTRADE file will be copied to server local folder.

NOTEl Make sure RcdMade data object is part of Reports or configure scan rate to 1sec for

RcdMade SCADA point to read the attribute value periodically.

l Alarm can be configured for RcdMade SCADA point for State 1, when COMTRADE fileis recorded by IED and alarm will be reported.

4.4.9 Log Control Block (LCB)

This feature allows the user to retrieve the historical values of data objects. To retrieve thehistorical values, IED must be capable to support Log Control Block.

To configure the LCB, perform below steps:

1. Select the IED from List view.

2. In the Control Blocks tab, under CB Type select CONFIGURED for LCB.

3. Click on Save Control Block Settings and download the IED.

To configure LCB point, perform below steps:

1. Select the IED from List view and expand.

2. Go to LLN0 logical node in the List view and expand.

3. Under LLN0 logical node, select LG Functional Constraint and configure the point.

4. Under LG Functional Constraint, select the LCB data object .

5. Configure and download the LCB data object with appropriate assets, names, etc.

The user can perform below options to retrieve the historical data from IED using LG point detaileddisplay. LCB performs the following two operations:

1. Read Parameters

2. Read Log

Read Parameters

This operation reads LCB configuration data and parameters from the IED.

To read the LCB parameters, perform the below steps:

1. Open Station and open the IED Detail Display.

2. Enable the LCB in IED Detail Display.

3. Open the LCB Point Detail Display in station. The LOG control block page appears.

Read Log

This operation reads the historical data for specified time intervals.

To read log perform the following steps:

1. Select Read Log from the Query type drop-down list.

2. Once you select Read Log, the following options are listed:

a. ByTime

b. ByLogEntry

ByTime

This allows user to retrieve a range of historical data based on time ranges (Start time and Endtime). To read log ByTime select required Start time and End time and click Query. The historicaldata recorded between the user specified start time and end time is retrieved from the IED.

ByLogEntry

This allows user to retrieve historical data from the referenced ID that are after the Start time andEntry. To read log ByLogEntry select required Log id, Start time and then click Query. This readsthe data from entered Log id and start time till the latest data. The historical data recordedbetween the user specified start time and Log id is retrieved from the IED.

l Point must be assigned to Assets for a successful download.

To download points using the List view

1. Download the IEDs.

2. In the List view, select the points you want to download. To select multiple points, hold theSHIFT key and then select the points.

3. .Download the points by clicking the Download button in the Tool Bar view.

The downloading of points begins. The downloaded points icon appears green.

1. Select the required points to be deleted in the List view.

2. Click Delete points in the toolbar. The selected points are deleted, and a success messageappears at the bottom of Delete Points dialog box.

4.6 Assigning Report Control Blocks

To support hot standby redundancy feature, the Report Control Blocks of IEDs must be assigned toprimary and backup servers. For each dataset, you must ensure that the reports are assignedcorrectly, so that data is reported in parallel to both the servers.You can select the followingoptions for Report Control Blocks.

Guidelines for enabling reports

l Identify the dataset that contains the downloaded points to find out in which dataset the pointsare present, by referring to the Dataset Values tab.

l Identify the list of reports that contain the required dataset names.

l To enable hot redundancy, ensure that two instances of reports are configured for ServerAand ServerB respectively.

l If instance reports are not supported by IEDs, then configure them as non-redundant.

l For non-redundant systems, configure reports as non-redundant.

ATTENTION

The report assignment must be done for both ServerA and ServerB for hot standbyredundancy to work as intended.

Enabling history backfill

You can enable history backfill for buffered reports(BRCB). Ensure to check the History Backfillcheck box for the required buffered reports.

ATTENTION

You cannot enable history backfill for unbuffered reports.

Considerations

You should enable reports for data set that contain the downloaded points. You can also referDataset Values tab for information about the downloaded point.

4.8 Synchronizing servers

To synchronize servers, you must be a member of the Administrator group.

4.8.2 To synchronize servers

1. In the Toolbar view, click on the server icon which must be synchronized.

The Synchronize dialog box appears.

2. The Synchronize dialog box asks for a confirmation to synchronize. Click Yes.

The selected server is restarted.

4.9 Embedding a point in custom display

This section includes tasks to embed an analog point in a custom display.

1. Open the HMIWeb Display Builder.

2. Click Start > All Programs > Honeywell Experion PKS > Server > HMIWeb Display Builder.

The IED and points must be downloaded.

3. Open a new display.

4. Drag a text box on the display and then drag the alphanumeric object on the display.

Cause The Schema for the SCL file is invalid and not according to the standard.

Resolution

1. Check for the Schema errors while adding the SCL file by clicking on viewdetails.

2. Open view logs or navigate to configuration logs folder inC:\ProgramData\Honeywell\Experion

PKS\IEC61850\Log\Configuration and open SCLParsing.logfile and navigate to last to the lastly added IED.

If SCl_Parse_Res value is one then SCL xml structure is invalid.

l SCL_DT_Create_Res value is one then IED data model is incorrect.

l SCL_LD_Create_Res value is one then dataset contents or RCBs are invalid.

IEDs are not added through "Import from IED" option

Problem IEDs are not added through "Import from IED" option.

CauseThe IEDs are not communicating or the IED returned a negative response to the MMSrequest.

Resolution

1. Check that IED is communicating andMMS services are enabled in the IED.

2. View logs or navigate to configuration logs folder underC:\ProgramData\Honeywell\ExperionPKS\IEC61850\Log\Configuration and open 61850Config.log file andfind whether IED returned negative response to the MMS request.

Modified SCD file import is getting failed

Problem Modified SCD file import is getting failed.

Cause Incorrect SCL files schema in the modified SCL file.

Resolution Correct the SCL file as per schema.

Auto Point save is provoked only for some points

Problem Auto Point save is provoked only for some points.

CauseAuto Point save is provoked for points that contains SR Functional Constraint in themand it doesn’t have any impact.

Resolution Click on save and proceed.

Points are not getting downloaded

Problem Points are not getting downloaded.

Cause

Points downloadmay fail in the following scenarios.

l If the point name is already assigned or present in the system.

l Experion Switchover while System Configuration tool is opend.

Resolutionl Change the point name and try to download again.

l Reconnect to the primary server by relaunching the configuration studio.

Unhandled exception appears while opening the IEC 61850 System Configurator tool

Problem Unhandled exception appears while opening the IEC 61850 System Configurator tool.

CauseThe configuration files are corrupted due to improper closing of the IEC 61850 SystemConfigurator tool or Configuration Studio.

ResolutionCheck for the correct schema for config.xml, if something is corrupted then rectify thesame.

Cause Improper handling of multiple project scenarios.

ResolutionEnsure that while performing Import from IED from non- primary server node needsthe System Configuration tool to be closed and reopened in other nodes.

Unhandled exception while performing operations

Problem Unhandled exception while performing operations.

Cause Corrupted database XMLs.

ResolutionWhenever Unhandled exception comes it is advised to quit the configuration studioand reopen them, still the error is there then delete the IED and reconfigure thesame.

IEC 61850 Diagnostics tool live logs are not displayed

Problem IEC 61850 Diagnostics tool live logs are not displayed.

Cause The tool is open for a long time.

Resolution Relaunch the tool.

Report Control Blocks are not enabled

Problem Report Control Blocks are not enabled.

Cause

l Report is enabled by third party simulator or external clients.

l RCB-write fails.

l You cannot write the Report Setting options such as Trgops, Optflds, buftm, rptID.

Resolution

l Close all third party clients.

l Check for Server logs in C:\ProgramData\Honeywell\ExperionPKS\IEC61850\Log\HCI.IEC6850.X.

l Check with vendor the reason the write operation fails and correct the Reportsettings in config xml if you cannot perform write operation.

Data is not updated

Problem Data is not updated.

CausePoints are not present in dataset, if they are present then the corresponding Reportscontrol blocks are not selected properly for Server A and Server B

Resolution

l Close all third party clients.

l Check for Server logs in C:\ProgramData\Honeywell\ExperionPKS\IEC61850\Log\HCI.IEC6850.X.

l Check with vendor the reason the write operation fails and correct the Reportsettings in config xml if you cannot perform write operation.

l IED is giving the negative feedback command for the control.

Resolution Resync the control model.

Incorrect Control Type for points

Problem Incorrect Control Type for points.

Cause

The various supported control types are Boolean, Enum and Integer. These are basedon the CDC type provided in SCL files. For a particular CDC type if the control typeprovided for the point in SCL file is different than the control type as defined by thestandard, then control type mismatch occurs.

Resolution Provide control from the custom displays.

Parameters are not displayed in Faceplate

Problem Parameters are not displayed in Faceplate.

CauseIf the concatenation of names of parameters of the point exceeds Experion limit of255 Charcters.

Resolution Configure the points in custom displays.

"Data Limit Exceeded" warning appears in system alarms

Problem "Data Limit Exceeded" warning appears in system alarms.

CauseThe Number of parameters per second reported from the IEDs exceeds the limit of15000.
