1. To be on cloud nine
• To be extremely happy.
• Example:• They were both on
cloud nine during their honeymoon.
2. It´s raining cats and dogs
• It´s raining very hard.• Example:• Take your umbrella
and a jacket because it's raining cats and dogs outside.
3. To steal someone´s thunder
• When someone takes attention away from someone else.
• Example:• Don't wear that dress
to the wedding; the bride won't like it because you'll be stealing her thunder.
4. To make a storm in a teacup
• When someone makes a small problem larger than it really is.
• Example:• Those two are always
arguing about something, it's just a storm in a teacup.
5. To be under the weather
• When someone is not feeling well.
• Example:• Paul isn't coming with
us because he feels a little under the weather.
6. To chill out
• To relax completely or not allow things to upset you.
• Example: • I'm just chilling out in
front of the TV.
7. To rain on someone´s parade
• To spoil something for someone; to spoil someone's plans or pleasure.
• Example:• I'm sorry to rain on your
parade, but you're not allowed to have food or drinks in the theater.
