Florian Lindsay Florian Ms. GardnerEnglish 10 Period 210 October 2014Finding MyselfI was 15 years old when the event occurred. I was living in a grey colored medium-sized two story house on the side of a grassy hill next to a river. It was a sunny Friday afternoon, the birds were chirping and the trees were swaying from the light wind blowing across our thoughts. I was walking home from school with nothing but my backpack and myself. I stumbled upon to a picnic table that I call my place. I took out my lunch that I had forgotten to eat at school, as this happens too often. As I begin eating my peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a short middle aged woman with blonde hair approaches me.May I sit here with you? She asks me.I reply, Of course, be my guest.Sorry to disrupt you, I just had to visit my favorite place. She was wearing a T-shirt with winged shoes plastered on it. From first glance, I could tell she was true at heart and not somebody here to kidnap me, so I decided to stay and chat with her.No, youre fine, I reply, this is also my favorite place to relax and enjoy myself. I noticed the scar on the inside of her left ankle immediately, as I myself have a matching one. Her capris make it easy to spot, bright purple and long.Would you like half of my peanut butter and jelly sandwich? I said staying true to my roots. I didnt want to be rude eating in front of her..No thank you, she said politely, I ate about an hour ago. The way she spoke, the way she walked, the way she sat, all reminded me of somebody. In this woman, I saw myself.
