To orientate yourself and navigate in the field offline. To locate villages, infrastructures (or potential infrastructure sites) or other points of interest that are important for your project and to share these easily with partners beneficiaries and donors.
Offline mapping apps like OSMAnd allow you to downloadOpenStreetMap (OSM) maps and access them without an internet connection (e.g. in the field). They also allow you to collection GPS coordinates, tracks and to calculate routes.

• Locate any point of interest and share withpartners via Wi-Fi or 3G
• Export potential points of interest and GPX tracks to a computer
• Can update the base map as the OSM mappingprogresses
• Flexible tool with a large choice of extensions and customisation options

• The application is very user-friendly
• Install OSMAnd from the app store (e.g. «Google Play Store ») on your mobile device
• Activate GPS on your smartphone

Overview Basic settings
Click on « App settings », then :1. « Download Maps », and
choose the area of interest2. « Plug-in Manager », then
choose « Record Route » and activate the plug-in. Whenenabled, the plug-in turnsorange and the GPS trackingoption appears on the welcome screen (3).

Prerequisites :
1. Active GPS via the phone settings
2. Define the accuracy requirements for recording the GPS tracks:
App settings> Plug-in Manager > Settings : choose the corresponding profile (if movement is by foot/car…)
Define the minimum level of accuracy for recording (do not go below 5m, due to the smartphone limitations. Tips : 5m for pedestrian mode, 10m for bicycle or car mode).
Steps : 1. Start recording, click on the « GPX » icon in the top right of the
welcome screen or « 3 », then « Start GPX recording ».2. Settings for recording
Choose a recording duration or frequency : the latter canvary depending on the mode (tip : for pedestrians, every10 seconds)
Check the option « Show on the map » to see the trackon the map as you move
Do not check « Remember my choice » , so that you canmodify these options easily in other situation
3. Finish recording : click on the « GPX » icon at the top right of the screen, then « Stop the GPX recording » then « Save GPX ».
Share your GPS track1 App settings, then Favourites, then My Tracks2. In the section « Rec », select the desired track and then share.
The GPX icon will turn redwhen a GPX trace has started being recorded

Share your POIs
1 . App settings, then « Favourites », then « My Favorites »
2. In the section «My Favourites », Select to share all of the favourites at once. coup. Select to share a specific favourites category.

RECORDING POINTS OF INTEREST (POI)
1. Click and hold (2 seconds) on the map in the area where youwish to add a POI. Thenclick on the star to savethe POI
2. Define the name, description of the POI as well as its categoryby clicking on the entry under « Category »
3. Choose your categoryor add one
4. Create a new category : define its name, identifying colour for elements in thiscategory
