IT spending on mobility will peak at 50% of enterprise IT budgets in 2018,
leveling off in 2019.
In 2017, one-quarter of enterprise IT organizations will be testing
augmented reality business apps for use on smartphones
By 2019, wireless charging begins appearing in more offices and
conference rooms with 50% of new smartphones; 20% of new tablets;
and 5% of new notebooks deployments supporting the technology.
In 2017, 5G connectivity will be a board-level agenda item for 50% of the
G2000, largely in response to the hype from top-tier mobile network
operators over standards and use case potential.
In 2019, one in every 25 retail payments will be made using mobile
phones, with growth primarily driven by Asia and Africa.
By 2019, 85% of unregulated enterprise organizations will offer a CYOD
(choose-your-own-device) program for eligible employees as their default
device policy.
In 2018, 50% of organizations with "mobile centers of excellence" will
rename these to address digital transformation agendas, of which mobile
remains a critical element.
The number of enterprise mobile apps will double by 2018 yet the shift
away from mobilizing existing corporate apps doesn't begin until 2019
when enterprises pick up momentum on mobile-first apps.
In 2017, enterprises will take mobile security more seriously, with
deployments of third-party security tools on corporate devices surging
40% over the next 36 months.
In 2019, 40% of enterprises will save time and money by adopting
common management and policy controls across disparate devices to
manage all endpoints with a single system.

IT Impact
Guidance
By using existing devices, there is
no net new hardware cost.
However, there may be a need for
specialized hardware to best
utilize AR software.
Expect associated software and
services costs, as well as training
needs.
Take small steps by using existing
hardware to make transformation
easier for the organization and
employees.
AR will have profound effect on
business processes – on par with
introduction of the PC years ago.
Target existing processes to
leverage ‘hands-free’ based AR
apps
Augmented Reality Apps: In 2017, one-quarter of IT
organizations will be testing augmented reality business apps for
use on smartphones

and what it means in commercial
settings
Be prepared to invest in the
immediate term (SDN/NFV)
Don’t expect 5G network rollouts
until 2019 at earliest
