1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1. Project Description
The Banyu Urip project is located onshore on the island of Java between the cities of Cepu and
Bojonegoro. The Central Field Facilities (CFF) will include four well pads that are connected to a Central
Processing Facility (CPF). The CFF also includes buildings and infrastructure required to support
operation, maintenance and facility logistic. The stabilized crude oil from the CPF will be exported
through onshore and offshore pipelines to a Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) vessel located offshore of
the north coast of Java near the city of Tuban.
1.2. Scope
This Banyu Urip Project Specification covers basic requirements for the selection. procurement,
application and installation of stationary batteries. battery chargers and related equipment for onshore
and offshore Mobil Cepu Limited production and processing facilities.

2.3. Definitions

Company Mobil Cepu Limited
Purchaser The Organization that issues the purchase order and specifications to
the Vendor. The Purchaser is Company's appointed agent or Contractor
Vendor The Manufacturer of the equipmenl or the Manufacturer's agent
3.0 GENERAL
The sejection. procurement application and installation of stationary batteries, battery chargers andrelated equipment for onshore and offshore production and processing facilities shall be in accordance
with requirements of this Specification, unless superseded by more stringent local regulations.
Unless otherwise specified the design, materials, fabrication, testing and performance of the equipment
covered herein shall comply with the applicable sections of the latest edition of the above referenced
standards and publications.
Stationary battery installations shall conform to IEC 6089611 and 60896-21 .
1) Stationary batteries shall be used as a source for direct current (DC) power for switchgear,
Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and other special control requirements.
2} Protective devices shall be furnished as required to ensure that the system is operating within itsdesign limits and to alarm f f it is incapable of operating satisfactorily.
3) Redundant battery chargers shall be furnished when specified on the project Data Sheets for this
Specification.
4) For non-VRLA batteries, unless otherwise specified the battery cells shall be shipped in a dry
charged condition with the electrolyte shipped in separate containers.
5) All electrical equipment and components within the system shall be listed and certffied by a
COMPANY approved internationally recognized testing laboratory.
3.1. Amperage RatingsNoltage
1) Vendor shall submit a complete calculation for sizing the DC systems e.g battery sizing, charger
sizing, etc for COMPANY review and approval. The stationary batteries and battery chargers shallhave the specified continuous amperage rating over the entire battery voltage range and shall
maintain output voltage within specified limits when a full load is applied and removed.
2) Unless otherwise specified on the project Data Sheets for this Specification, the nominal battery
voltage shall be 110VDC and have a design life of no less than 20 years.
3.2. Battery Mains/Connections
1) Where a battery is located in a room apart from its associated charger and DC panel board, a circuit
breaker or safety disconnect switch shall be provided at the battery room for disconnecting the
battery mains.
2) The battery mains shall be provided with double lugging to enable the connection to the DC output
terminals of the associated charger and to the incoming breaker of the DC panelboard. Lugs shall be

suitable for connection of the number and size of conductors specified on the project Data Sheets for
this Specification and drawings.
3.3. Conflict Resolution
Any conflicts between the referenced documents shall be identified to Mobil Cepu ltd. in writing for
resolution. In general. when resolving conflicts, the following order of precedence shall apply:
1) Project Data Sheets for this Specification
2) Purchase Order
3) Reference Standards
4.0 BATTERIES
4.1. Requirements
Unless otherwise specified. batteries shall be lead acid, valve regulated recombination type for indoor air-
conditioned room use and nickel cadmium f()( outdoor installation. Indoor installation for nickel-cadmium
batteries shall be subject to COMPANY approval.
4.1.1. Valve-Regulated lead Acid Battery
1) Batteries shall be horizontal type.
2) Containers for valve regulated batteries shall be flame-retardant Polypropylene, or eQual, to prevent
electrolyte leakage through the container (under pressure). Vent plugs shall be spray-proof and
flame-arresting.
3) The size of the cables between charger and ballery shall be specified by the Vend()(. Each battery
shall be comprised of a group of cells connected in series to give specified nominal voltage. Each
cell shall identify the polarity, manufacturer, type, ampere-hour capacity, hours basis and date of
manufacture, all appearing in a plain and durable manner. All cells shall be made of fiame retardant
material of high impact strength.
4) Batteries shall be supplied complete with all reQuired interconnecting links, cables, lugs, nuts. etc. All
inter-tier connections shall be adeQuately supported and insulated to be capable of carrying a battery
through fault. To facilitate maintenance, withdrawable tray(s) shall be provided for batteries.
5) All battery cell terminals shall have adequate current carrying capacity. Cell terminal posts shall beeQuipped with connector bolts. Cell terminal posts, bolts and associated hardware shall be of
electrolyte-resisting material.
6) Batteries shall be eQuipped with terminal covers to prevent accidental contact. Unless installed in
cabinet, batteries shall meetlP 2X.
4.1.2. Nickel Cadmium Battery
1) Cells shall have shock-absorbing, transparent, non-conductive, heat-resistant containers with sealed
covers to form a permanent leak-proof unit.
Containers shall be of plastic or glass that resists heat, chemicals and high impact and p~ides
visual indication of electrolyte level. V . - < . , ~
2) Covers shall have an explosion-resistant vent plug that prevents moisture from entering the cell.

4) Plates shall be suspended in a manner that allows for normal plate growth without placing undue
stress on the container or cover.
5) Starting (cranking) batteries may have opaque thermo-plastic containers.
6) Cell terminal posts, bolts and associated hardware of electrolyte resisting materials shall be provided.
Batteries shall be furnished with all interconnecting straps or cables.
7) Adequate spacing between cells shall be provided for ease of installation and maintenance of the
battery.
8) Electrolyte level lines shall be marked on all sides of each container.
9) Ample sediment space shall be provided beneath the plates to eliminate the need for sediment
remOllal during the life of the battery.
4.2. BatteryCapacity
Stationary ballery capacity shall be sized for 115% of the design load. 25% ageing factor shall also be
included. In the absence of other specific requirements, the following data shall be applied in establishing
battery capacities:
1) The ambient temperature (max and min) expected at the battery location.
2) For main substations, an eight-hour rating equal to the total power requirements for control relays,
pilot lights and other continuous loads; plus a one-minute rating equal to the closing current
requirements of cirCUit breakers that must be operated to return the system to normal.
3) For load center substations, the requirements of Item 2, except that a four-hour rating shall be used
instead of the eight-hour rating.
4) The acceptable discharge-state final cell voltage is 1.8 volts per cell at 20 C for valve-fegulated lead
acid batteries and 1.14 volts per cell for nickel-cadmium batteries.
4.3. BatteryLocationandInstallation
1) Batteries shall be located either within a protective enclosure or in an area that is only accessible to
qualified personnel. The battery location shall be clean, dry and away from sources of heat and
excessive vibration.
2) The battery area shall be ventilated, either by a natural or induced ventilation system, to prevent
accumulation of hydrogen and to maintain design ambient temperature.
4.3.1. Battery Room Facilit ies
In general where vallie-regulated batteries are used for indoors, separate ballery room is not required.
Where nickel cadmium batteries installed indoors, separate battery room shall be prollided as follow:
Facilities shall be prollided at all battery locations for sufficient diffusion and ventilation of battery
gases to limit hydrogen accumulation to less than 2 percent of the total lIolume of the battery room.
Space shall be provided around batteries for safe inspection, maintenance, testing and cell
replacement. Space shall also be left above the batteries to allow for operation of cell lifting
equipment, addition of water and measurements of cell temperature and specific gravity.
Battery area floors shall be of acidresistant material or be coated with electrolyte-resistant paint.
PrOllision shall be made to contain spilled electrolyte.
Signs shall be installed stating that smoking and open flames are prohibited in the battery area.

4.3.2. Battery Racks and Enclosures
Batteries shall be supplied complele with racks and cabinets or other enclosures. Racks and enclosures
shall be made of non-inflammable, corrosion resistanl malerial, designed to provide easy access to each
battery cell for testing and maintenance purposes and to prevent movement of or damage to the cells.
The racks shall be designed and constructed so that any cell may be lifted wilhout removing any other
cell or without a major disassembly of the rack. Racks mounled againsl wall shall be one deep front to
back. Vendor shall specify the maximum enclosure outside air temperature required to maintain battery
design life.
In general all VRLA batteries shall be horizontal type mounted in a rack and enclosed in a metallic
enclosure.
In areas of high seismic risks, seism ic-resistant battery racks shall be installed.
For offshore installalions, battery racks shall have necessary stops and braces 1 0 prevent the
battery from moving, with respect to the rack, as a result of platform movement and vibration.
The interior surfaces of the battery cabinets shall be treated with epoxy painting or equal to ensure
resistance to corrosion from corrosive acids and gases. Enclosure shall have large double doors
sized to allow inspection, replacemenl and maintenance of batteries.
Battery racks shall nol exceed a two-tier or lwo-step arrangement and shall be suitable for back-lo-
wall installation.
Melal battery racks and enclosures shall be earthed.
4.3.3. Inter-cell Conneclors
Batteries shall be furnished complele with inter-cell connectors and all other standard accessories
necessary for satisfactory operation. Inter-cell conneclors shall be lead coaled copper straps. A
minimum of 120 mm2
, 600V insulated, slranded flexible copper conductor cable shall be provided for
connections of batteries between sleps on rack.
4.4. Battery Accessories
The battery equipment shall include a complete set of accessories required for maintaining and testing
the cells. Unless otherwise specified on the Project Data Sheels for this Specification, the following
equipment shall be supplied for each battery sel:
1) One filler bulb to adjust liquid levels of cells (for nickel cadmium type)
2) One battery lerminal or pole wrench
3) One cell-lifting strap and spreader
4} Inter-cell connectors and conneclor bolls for spacing between cells
5} Interior or Inter-step connectors as necessary
6} One container of no-oxide grease
7) One set of plaslic cell numerals
8) One sel of grease rings

16) Enclosures housing the equipment shall be compartmentalized to allow access for maintenance to
sections not in service without risk to personnel or continuity of system output.
1?) The power circuit components shall be individually removable from their enclosures without the use
of special tools.
18) Control modules shall be in a plug-in arrangement, designed to allow troubleshooting by whole piece
replacement.
19) Removal or replacement of components in one section shall not require access to another section.
20) It shall be possible to test and adjust major components or circuits without disconnecting or removing
them from the cabinet and with only the use of a standard multimeter and oscilloscope.
21) Enclosures housing the instrument power supply equipment shall be compartmentalized to prevent
faults in one section from spreading to other sections. Arc barriers shall be provided to prevent arcs
occurring on busses in one compartment from propagating to other busses in the same compartment
or to busses in other compartments. Fully insulated busses satisfy these requirements.
22) Unless specified otherwise, each equipment assembly shall have a front-of-panel graphic diagram.
23) All internal components, all terminal blocks, and all terminal points shall be clearly labeled.
a) Power and control wiring shall be identified by legible markings at the terminals.
b) EVBfY wire termination shall be provided with a heat-shrinkable or equivalent sleeve-type wire
markBf labeled in accordance with the wiring schematics.
c) Device identification shall correspond to maintenance, operating, and trouble-shooting
documentation.
24) All labels shall be engraved laminated plastic with white lettering on black. Warning labels shall be
white lettBfs on red. labels shall be provided for all components, lamps, relays, etc., and shall give
the schematic diagram code and description. All labels shall be screwed to the panel (not glued).
25) Schematic drawings shall show device 10 and wire numbers. labels for devices and wires shall
match drawings. It shall not be necessary to use vendor-wiring diagrams to troubleshoot.
Troubleshooting shall be possible with only the schematic.
26) Air filters shall cover the air inlets and shall be replaceable from the outside without requiring any
door of the charger to open. Redundant fans shall be used for forced air-cooling. Battery cabinets
included in the charger lineup shall be convection cooled. A single fan failure shall not cause loss of
adequate air-cooling. The thermal design, along with all sensors, shall be coordinated with the
protective devices for the forced air-cooled power circuit components such that internal and external
fault conditions will be cleared by the protective devices before excessive component or internal
cabinet temperatures are exceeded.
The charger shall be constructed of replaceable subassemblies. Printed circuit assemblies shall beidentified and be plug-in type.
5.1.1. Float and Equalize Modes
Stationary battery chargers shall have separate adjustable float and equalizing charge controls. A
selector switch shall be provided for selection of the fioat and equalizing modes including a
selectable 12-hour equalizing charge limer.
Stationary battery chargers shall be current iimited in both the float and equalize modes, to protect
the equipment against ioad-side short circuits and to prevent batteries from being overcharged.
Proposals by manufacturers shall include the output voltage and current when the battery charger is
current limited. Facility to disable boost charge shall be provided. ~

During normal operation, the battery shall be floating on-line with the battery charger connected.
The normal steady-state loads shall be supplied by the battery charger.
5.1.2. Battery-Disconnected Operations
Stationary battery chargers shall be capable of maintaining output voltage within specified
tolerances with the batteries disconnected (except for the output ripple percentage).
Battery chargers shall be capable of supplying rated load with the battery disconnected.
When operating without the battery, the system shall meet all specified performance requirements
except reserve time.
5.1.3. Additional Features
In additioo to the requirements noted above, the following features shall also be provided with battery
chargers:
DC voltmeter with at least 2 percent accuracy
DC ammeter with at least 2 percent accuracy
Floating and equalizing charge selector switch. A means for adjusting the equalizing and floating
charge voltages and setting the equalizing charge time period
AC input circuit breaker
Battery circuit breaker
DC output circuit breaker
DC ground detection system, including switch, indicating lights and relay for remote alarm
AC power failure alarm, including indicating light and relay for remote alarm
low DC voltage relay for remote alarm
Loss-of-charging-current relay for remote alarm
Surge suppressors
High DC voltage shutdown
Indicating lights for the following functions (all indicating lights shall be cluster LED type with push to
test feature for testing all lights without interruption of output power):
a) AC Power On
b) Low DC Vollage
c) Low AC Voltage
d) High DC Voltage
e) High AC Voltage
f) DC Grounded - Positive Leg
g) Float Charge Mode

5.1.4. SafelylAlarm Considerations
A reset switch shall be provided to reset all alarms. A common alarm relay shall be provided for a
remote alarm. Relays shall de-energize to actuate alarms. All alarm relays shall be of Form C (1-
NO/1-NC) type.
When the charger is connected to a completely discharged battery, output current shall not damage
the charger, cause tripping of breakers or blowing of fuses in the input and output circuits. Also, the
charger shall operate into a short circuit cOfldition without blowing the fuse or tripping the breakers
and let the individual, branch-circuit protective device clear the fault.
Battery chargers shall be provided with blocking diodes in the output DC circuit to protect the battery
system from back feeding the charger circuit for internal fault in the charger circuit.
Chargers with a nominal output of 2000 watts and larger shall be three phase input. Chargers with
a nominal output of less than 2000 watts shall be single phase, unless indicated otherwise on the
Project Data Sheets for this Specification.
5.2. Parallel Operation
1) Battery chargers having similar regulation characteristics, the same capacity and the same nominal
DC output voltage shall be used in parallel operation.
2) Battery chargers that are operated in parallel shall have control circuitry to enable equal load sharing
to within 10 percent. Each charger shall be capable of independently supplying the entire load.
6.0 DC DISTRIBUTION PANELBOARDS
Multiple loads shall be supplied from a DC distribution panelboard, which shall be located as close as
practical to the battery and charger.
1) The panelboard shall have a two-pole main disconnect device without overcurrent protection.
2) Each circuit supplied from the panelboard shall be provided with a two-pole circuit protective device
sized for the specific circuit requirements. The device shall be fully selective with other protective
devices in the circuit.
3) Branch circuit breakers shall be of the bolt-on type, magnetic trip only and rated for the max short
circuit.

All the collected information and data shall be stored in non-volatile memory. Data shall be accessible to
a personal computer through a standard protocol (TCPIIP, Ethernet, serial, modem, etc).
8.2.2. LCD Display
The following parameters shall be displayed by the system LCD display:
Alarm and system status
Test name identification of cell being lested, measured values (in real time) incJuding tolal battery
and individual cell voltage, cell impedance, ambient and battery cell temperature
Floating logging internal (in hours)
Trend alarm set point (in percent), cell and battery bank, voltage, cell impedance
Remaining backup time during a discharge event
If a parameter is in "alarm condition: the system shall annunciate audibly and visually.
9.0 INSPECTION AND TESTING
In addition to Vendor's standard routine tests, each battery and battery charger assembly shall be tested
in accordance with IEC standards referenced in this Specification.
1) The Vendor's field service engineer shall inspect all equipment installed in the field. The Vendor'sengineer shall inspect equipment and individual components prior to energizing.
2} The Vendor shall notify COMPANY and Purchaser two weeks prior to when final lests are to be
performed. COMPANY or its representative reserves the right to inspect the equipment andlor
witness the tests at the factory.
a) Certified test report containing results of all tests on each unit shall be provided. Charge and
discharge characteristics of the batteries, impedance of each battery cell and battery charger
sizing calculations shall also be provided.
b) Costs for all test stated above shall be included as part of the package. All test data shall beassembled and forwarded to the COMPANY and Purchaser.
c) If the tests show that certain requirements are not met, the Vendor shall make necessarycorrections to the equipment at no cost to COMPANY and Purchaser so it will satisfy all
requirements before acceptance is made.
d) The Vendor shall provide all equipment required for conducting the tests.
3) When specified on the Project Data Sheets for this Specification. the Vendor shall perform a capacity
test after the batteries have been installed to demonstrate the rated capacity of the system. Vendor
shall provide all required test equipment including load banks.
