STANDARD 1 Know students and how they learn

FOCUS AREA DESCRIPTOR ICT ELAB ORATION

1.1 Physical, social andintellectual development andcharacteristics of students

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding ofphysical, social and intellectual development andcharacteristics of students and how these may affectlearning.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ways that students' ICT usecan influence student's social and intellectual development and how thismay affect their engagement and learning.

1.2 Understand how studentslearn

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding ofresearch into how students learn and the implicationsfor teaching.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how student engagementand learning can be enhanced through the use of digital resources andtools.

STANDARD 3 Plan for and impl ement effective teaching and learning


3.1 Establish challenging learninggoals

Set learning goals that provide achievablechallenges for students of varying abilities andcharacteristics.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how the use of digital resources and toolscan support approaches to teaching that enable all students to pursue their individualcuriosity, set their own educational goals, manage their own learning, choose the waythey respond to tasks and challenges and assess their own progress.

3.2 Plan, structure and sequencelearning programs

Plan lesson sequences using knowledge of studentlearning, content and effective teaching strategies.

Select and sequence digital resources and tools in ways that demonstrate knowledgeand understanding of how these can support deep learning of the content of specificteaching areas and effective teaching s trategies.

3.3 Use teaching strategies Include a range of teaching strategies. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how to support teaching strategiesthrough the use of digital resources and tools in ways that facilitate accelerated anddeep learning, promote creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness, engagestudents in exploring real world issues and solving authentic problems, promote studentreflection and promote collaborative knowledge construction.

4.3 Manage challengingbehaviour

Demonstrate knowledge of practical approaches tomanage challenging behaviour.

challenging behaviours.

Understand how to improve professional practice in the effective use ofdigital resources and tools through means including evaluation andreflection on current research and professional practice on a regular basis,and collaboration with colleagues both nationally and internationally throughparticipation in online learning communities.
