icroflown TechnologiesCharting sound fields
Impedance setup Microflown offers now a complete solution to measure your material properties in situ. The properties like acoustic absorption, acoustic reflection or impedance can be measured in just a few minutes, broad banded and under normal and oblique angles. This with a small, handheld impedance gun. A complete and easy to deploy hard and software solution is offered.
The possibility to measure both sound pressure and acoustic particle velocity in situ right at a surface of a material has created a true alternative to the well known Kundt's tube method or reverberant type of measurements.Taking (destructive) samples is no longer required, and also the absorption of sound waves under oblique angles of incidence, as they occur in practice of course, can finally be tested. Extremely high spatial resolution allows analysis of inhomogeneous, e.g. perforated, materials. As the in situ method also works with a relative movement between sample and probe, the end of line manufacturing control of damping materials has become possible.
V1.0 2009-06
As the method also works on curved materials, also the quality of the acoustic package as applied in the final assembly lines can be tested. A new era on quality control has only just begun, triggered by this novel and easy to use in situ surface impedance method.

Specifications - Hardware - Impedance Gun
The impedance gun is designed to decouple the PU probe and the speherical loudspeaker, and still keep it as one hand held device. The distance between both is a known fixed distance.
Speaker specs:Frequency response: 80Hz -20kHzImpedance: 8 OhmDiameter: 12,4 cmWeight: 480gS/N: >95dBMax SPL: 111 dB
Specifications - Hardware - Signal conditioning and DAQ
The system comes along with the MFSC-2 and MFDAQ-2. The MFSC-2 is a 2 channel signal conditioner used to power en readout the microflown sensor. The PU probe has 2 outputs, pressure (P) and particle velocity (U). The MFDAQ-2 is a 2 channel data acquisition system that reads in two analogue channels. The inputs of the DAQ are 2 standard BNC connectors. The out put connection to the computer is a trough USB.More info and specs can be found in the datasheet and manual of the and

Specifications - Software
The surface impedance software is an MATLAB executable. The software is
