BPS Independent Citizens Oversight Committee
2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way
Viera, FL 32940
Dear Selection Committee,
Please accept my recommendation and endorsement of Mr. Kyle Brown for a position on the Independent
Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC). He has extensive engineering, project management, and public service
experience that I know would serve the Committee and the Brevard School Board well.
In my former position with DRMP, I recruited, interviewed, and worked with Kyle across all facets of the
engineering business. He successfully started an office in Brevard County, establishing the necessary federal
and municipal client base, and currently oversees over $2.5 million in design efforts. He is on track to triple the
size of this office in less than two years.
Aside from his technical and business expertise, Kyle has the political acumen to effectively navigate the
complex and often emotional management of public funds. During his 20 years of military service in the public
works field, he successfully steered projects and teams through complex political processes from Washington
D.C. to local municipalities.
Having served on many public boards, committees, and now as an Orange County Commissioner, I understand
the deep and diverse talent necessary for a committee as important as the ICOC as well as the overarching
mandate to maintain the trust of citizens. Kyle will bring the character, judgement, and technical skills that do
just that and will enable the committee’s continued success. In short, I am proud to recommend him to you, he
would be a solid asset to your team.
Sincerely,
Betsy VanderLey
Orange County Commissioner, District 1
