DESTINATIONS:
Seven miles of perfect beaches welcome the seagoing traveler to Ft. Lauderdale. Renowned for sun and water sports, the city also offers fine shopping along the Riverwalk and a perfect jumping-off point for a tour of the Everglades.
Fort Lauderdale
365 days of crystal-clear warm water and almost no current give Grand Cayman the ideal conditions for diving and snorkeling. You’ll be amazed at the breathtaking marine life and seascapes that provide underwater photographers with subject matter beyond compare. Even those who don’t want to get wet can experience awesome sea viewing from the comfort of a submarine. For a real thrill, try snorkeling with the world-famous stringrays at Stingray Sandbar. For the truly brave, wander down the road to the quirky town of Hell, where you’ll see the unusual jagged rock formations that inspired the town’s name. A postcard sent from here will have a truly unforgettable postmark.
Grand Cayman Island
As you sail into Roatan’s sparkling new Mahogany Cruise Center, you’ll know you are in for a unique and distinctly Caribbean experience. This island paradise is surrounded by over 60 miles of protected, living reef that provides shelter to thousands of species of fish and marine life. The interior offers ancient Copan ruins, tropical jungles and curious upright moving “Jesus” lizards, as well as brilliantly colored macaws and parrots.
Island of Roatan, Honduras
For a fascinating adventure along the Caribbean coast of Central America, Belize has it all. From ancient Mayan ruins to a lush rainforest crawling with wildlife to the large barrier reef surrounding the city, you’ll be surprised at just how much this port has to offer. Examine hundreds of structural remains from Altun Ha, first settled by the Maya around 250 B.C., or visit the most extensive barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, the Belize Barrier Reef. Home to hundreds of species of colorful fish and coral.
Belize City, Belize
Located 12 miles off the southern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel is known as the gem of the Mexican Caribbean. Perhaps the name reflects the fact that it’s temperate, crystal clear waters range in jewel tones from stunning turquoise to deep indigo. Cozumel is home to both the famous caverns of Dos Ojos Cave systems, which provide an unforgettable glimpse of ocean architecture, and the Tulem Ruins, the only Mayan city built overlooking the Sea.
