Tate Objectives of Project The objectives of this project are as follows: To enable students to develop an understanding of the building team, its organization, duties and inter- relations within which they will seek employment, career progression or further study. To develop an awareness of their professional responsibilities and to appreciate their profession in the construction industry. Learning Outcomes of this Project On successful completion of this assignment, students will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. Explain the need to coordinate and develop an understanding of coherent working relations among various industry players and to improve the communication channels. 2. Ability to document their observations and understanding from interview session and research resources as well as to communicate their findings in a systematic and convincing presentation and reports. 3. Obtain confidence through reporting and presenting their works in the class to discuss matters of design and construction issues and inter-relationship among design/construction parties involved in the construction industry. Explain and illustrate structures of organisations involved in the construction industry from the design stage to final account stage.

Objectives of Project

The objectives of this project are as follows:

Tasks - Methodology In a group work of 2 students, you need to find a specific land within campus area to initiate a small construction project. The size of the land shall not be more than 30m x 30m. You should propose ONE project that serves one of the following purposes.

1. Recreation area 2. Study Enhancement Area 3. Rest area 4. Food and beverage (dining area) 5. Commercial area (exclude food and beverage)

You need to study:- i. TYPES of BUILDING DEVELOPMENT – Includes suggestion, rationale, benefits, site analysis, evaluation and the needs of the project to the client and to the community. ii. AUTHORITIES ROLE IN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY – Focus on Building Plan Approval Process and Procedures

Submission Requirement

A4 sized bounded report (min 20 pages). Students are required to upload their report in Microsoft word format in Times. Assessment criteria The assessment for this assignment will be based on your
