Day by Day Itinerary

DAY 1:Fly to Lapland. Transfer to Original ICEHOTEL. Exquisite Tasting Menu

Fly to Kiruna in Swedish Lapland, where on arrival you will be met by Petri, your private guide, and transferred to the original ICEHOTELwhere you will be provided with the use of Protective Arctic Outdoor Clothing: Arctic Jacket, Trousers, Snowboots, Hat & Gloves.

Your guide will check you in and then escort you to your deluxe Art Suite. These are the best rooms at the ICEHOTEL 365. Each isindividually designed with more space and have their own luxury en suite bathroom, relaxation area and area to store your bags.

Take some time out to wander around the ICEHOTEL and explore all the unique design features including the ceremonial hall and ICEBAR.

This evening enjoy what is without doubt the most exclusive dining experience in Swedish Lapland at the Verandah Restaurant at theICEHOTEL. Enjoy a fine 12 course tasting menu at the Chef’s table celebrating the ingredients that make the cuisine of northern Sweden soenjoyable. A selection of matching wines will accompany the meal. Head chef Alexander Meier worked the two-starred Michelin restaurant LeBéarn in Geneva before he came to ICEHOTEL so combines exacting standards with the best local ingredients.

Husky Sled Airport Transfer

Arrive in Style with this private sled dog transfer to your lodge. Perfect for all those special occasion travelers!

A guide will meet you directly at the airport arrivals hall and escort you to the starting point for this husky adventure!  The dogs will be waitingas you change into some warm outer clothing and boots. Moments later your musher guide & barking dogs turns to silence as you head offdown the trail on a journey that lasts 60-75 minutes. Arriving at the husky kennels, you now have some time to meet the dogs up close intheir home environment and learn more about their life in Lapland before you transfer to your lodge.

Duration: 2 hours.

After breakfast check out of the ICEHOTEL and be picked up by your private guide who will take you out for a very special day in thewilderness.

He will drive you to Mikko’s Máttárahkká Northern Lights Lodge, your base for the next 2 nights.

This wonderfully cosy Lodge situated around 5 kilometers outside of Kiruna has far reaching views towards the Abisko Alps and is the perfectcompliment to the ICEHOTEL. With only 7 rooms it has a ‘home away from home’ feel and has excellent activities right from the doorstep.

Mikko and Bjorn will be your hosts and guides and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

The Lodge is situated near trails that take you into pristine wilderness and your PRIVATE adventure begins with taking snowmobiles outalong these trails. Follow frozen river valleys and ride up the Fells to the guide’s secret lake where Arctic Char abound. Put your Reindeerskins on the ice, drill a hole and see what you can catch. We have been known to catch 3-4kg Char up here!

Part of the beauty is purely being away from everything and feeling like you own this wilderness for a moment in time. The guide will alsohave snow shoes with him so that you can try your hand.

Lunch is taken in the wild and will be cooked on a fire in the great outdoors.

Return to the lodge mid afternoon and have some down time. You will check in to the ‘ Room with a View’ with its private hot tub andcommanding views out over miles and miles of open wilderness to the Abisko Alps. If the Northern Lights are out then you have a birds eyeview.

Enjoy dinner at the lodge and the use of your hot tub. If the aurora forecast is stronger elsewhere and within driving distance, you have aprivate guide and vehicle at your disposal.

DAY 3:Husky Wilderness Safari. Evening Aurora BBQ

After breakfast you will be picked up from the Lodge for what is for many, the favourite day of a trip to Lapland – driving your own sled dogteam. The kennels we use for this PRIVATE tour are in the remote Kalix river valley, an area where you are guaranteed solitude andamazing scenery.

Ylva Sievertsson is one of a select band of ‘lady mushers’ and owns and runs the kennel with her husband Peter. She offers very personalsled dog trips and as you will discover has a very special relationship with her dogs.

Once you arrive at the kennels get acquainted with the dogs and receive detailed instructions about how to drive them. Head out into thefrozen river valley where you will have opportunities to take turns in driving the team whilst making stops to take photos. The location isoutside the major tourist areas and we can almost promise that you will enjoy pristine arctic nature alone.

You will be out for around 2 hours before heading back to base for a warming lunch in the traditional ‘Kota’ adjacent to the family home.

After lunch venture out for another session with the dogs before heading back to the lodge.

This evening enjoy an Aurora BBQ at the Lodge and obviously use of your private hot tub.

Once again if the aurora forecast is good elsewhere and is within driving range, your private guide will advise and you can venture out on anaurora hunt.

Overnight at the lodge.

DAY 4Fly Home or Extend your IceHotel & Northern Lights Holiday

After breakfast at leisure before checking out of the Lodge and transferring to the airport at the end of your Private ICEHOTEL NorthernLights holiday.

Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and always rates in the top 10 most desirable cities in the world to live in. It is alsothe perfect contrast to a break in the arctic.

The old town in Stockholm is very picturesque and compact and can be done in a full day. Your time will be spent exploring some fascinatinglandmarks. The VASA museum is world class, the Nobel museum of local interest and for ABBA fans; new in 2013 is the ABBA interactivemuseum.

Also in December Stockholm has many Christmas markets so a break can allow you to do some shopping and get into the Christmas spirit.

You will stay in the Rival Hotel owned by Benny Anderson of Abba fame. The hotel is an excellent 4* hotel in a quiet square but withinwalking distance of the old town.

Where You'll Stay

The Original ICEHOTEL - Swedish LaplandFrom 2015 The ICEHOTEL consists of 2 structures - the temporary hotel is rebuilt each year from blocks of ice harvested from theTorne river which runs adjacent to the IceHotel. These are stored for the summer in a huge warehouse and as the late Autumntemperature in Jukkasjärvi drops below zero ice artists arrive from the world over to build this magnificent creation. They build the4 levels of rooms, the ice chapel and the ice bar. Their art is created with imagination and hard work, only to melt away under theunforgiving rays of the spring sun.

The new ICEHOTEL 365 is a permanent ICEHOTEL and a feat of engineering which offers visitors the chance of staying the wholeyear round. It is an all suite hotel and also house the celebrated ICEBAR. On request we can ask for the luxury suites which haveadjacent bathrooms. These carry a supplement.

You will leave your luggage in an adjacent service block where there are saunas and showers, whilst all you will take into the hotelis you and your thermal arctic sleeping bag!

Wake up to a hot Lingonberry juice served in your room prior to the very substantial ICEHOTEL breakfast served in the mainrestaurant.

Máttaráhkká Northern Lights LodgeThis small intimate lodge used to be a Sami handicraft centre until the owners had the idea to turn it into an exclusive retreat. Withonly 7 bedrooms and an open plan lounge and dining room, the emphasis is on relaxing in a cosy environment. The rooms have adownstairs en-suite room with a staircase leading to a loft sitting room.

If you are a group of 8 or more friends or family traveling together and wish to have the lodge privately please let us know. This is agreat way of celebrating a big birthday or wedding anniversary

The lodge has a fabulous sauna and a very unusual northern lights hot tub on the roof where you can star gaze or hunt for theAurora. (This carries an extra charge).

Other benefits of a stay here mean that you can snowmobile straight from your doorstep into the Arctic wilderness.

Evenings are focused on good food, relaxation and the Northern Lights so if you are looking for a 'home away from home'experience then look no further.
