    6. Technical Details-

    (1)Description of the problem (Rational)

Human resource is a key factor in development. The foundations of mans physical, mental and social development are laid in early childhood. Whatever the one gets in

formative years of life contributes much for the effective adjustment as adult during the

later part of life. A child having understanding and encouraging parents congenial family

atmosphere, nutritious food and proper socialization will certainly score better when

compared to others who are not having these facilities. But because of poverty, ignorance

and other reasons our children are deprived of the basic facilities of good nutrition, health

and education. Child malnutrition is a wide spread public health problem having

international consequences because good nutrition is an essential determinant for their

wellbeing. The most neglected from the human deprivation is malnutrition, particular

among preschool children in detrimental to their health outcome. Nutritional status

indicators like wasting, stunting, low birth weight, vitamin A deficiency are also still high

in India. For this problem an integrated scheme like the integrated child development

services (ICDS) was launched in 1975 in India with the aim to reach all needy children

(0-6 Years) expectant and lactating mothers and women aged 15-45 years with basics

service include supplementation, nutrition, immunization, non formal education of

preschool, functional literacy of the women and essential health and health surveillance.

NFHS-2 and NFHS-3 have revealed that malnourishment still pores as a great challenge

to the state. Through ICDS is support to take care of this important component, it is

pertinent to study the factor and reasons for such dismal situation . This study is an

attempt to compare the status of ICDS with Non ICDS children as well as the situation in

rural vis -a -vis urban areas.

Research & Development Component of the study-

    (1)Study Design-

The sample of the study consists of children who are attending the ICDS centers and their

mothers residing from rural and urban areas of Jaipur city and children who are not

    (2) Sample Size & Selection of Subjects/ Plants

The study will be conducting in the ICDS and Non ICDS centers of rural and urban areas

of Jaipur city. Amongst the districts in Rajasthan, Jaipur is a largest by population at

66.63 lakh and infant mortality rate (IMR) is 55 percent in urban areas and 68 percent in

    rural areas.

    Criteria of the sample section-
