To participate in the IBM Scholars Program, you must apply. This program is open to individual faculty members of qualified institutions.
Membership within the IBM Scholars Program is a simple, two-step process:
1. You must apply for membership and select a user ID and password. 2. Once IBM receives your application and reviews it, your membership
approval notification will be sent via e-mail. This typically takes two or three days. You can then immediately access all IBM Scholars Program content.

Faculty Awards
Faculty Awards are granted annually on a global basis. The maximum award to any one recipient is USD40,000 per year.
The Faculty Awards are not contracts: no deliverables, no terms and conditions and no intellectual property rights may be stipulated as part of a Faculty Award.
To qualify for this internationally competitive award, the nominee must be a full-time professor at an accredited university which has a PhD or MBA program in the nominee's field.
IBM Faculty Awards are processed as donations to the awardee's university. As such, no overhead may be charged against the award.
Candidates must be nominated by an IBM employee.

SUR nominations
SUR nominations can be initiated in several ways, but all proceed from the assumption of IBM's technical interest in a project or research going on at the university.
SUR awards are selected by an IBM Executive Committee from nominations.
There is an electronic form that is filled by the IBM team in collaboration with the university.
These IBM people working with their university counterparts can prepare and submit a SUR proposal for review and consideration.
