DescriptionIBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager provides comprehensive, flexible, andscalable performance management with visualization and reporting of networkperformance data for complex, multivendor, multi-technology networks. TivoliNetcool Performance Manager is part of the IBM integrated network and serviceassurance solution portfolio, comprising performance management and faultmanagement, plus customer experience, service quality, and business servicemanagement.

IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager Version 1.3 Wireline Component offersthe following new features:

Full Linux SupportFull support of RedHat Enterprise Linux version 5.5.

Tivoli Common Reporting (Cognos)Tivoli Common Reporting is a common Tivoli reporting solution that isdelivered with the Tivoli Integrated Portal.

Tivoli Common Reporting is a business intelligence solution that leveragesthe reporting capability of Cognos to supports wireline, wireless, andcross-domain reporting.

Alternative visualization strategyTivoli Integrated Portal and Tivoli Common Reporting provide thefoundations for a new visualization strategy with two distinct visualizationmethods:v Operational views oriented towards real-time troubleshooting and

monitoring of networks with multiple Tivoli products.v Powerful reports oriented towards a more static and analytical delivery

of accumulated information.

Updated Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus Web GUI and Tivoli Netcool/Webtopintegration

The Tivoli Netcool/Webtop product, which provides Web-based eventvisualization and management functionality, has been repackaged as acomponent of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus, and renamed TivoliNetcool/OMNIbus Web GUI.

Mass Data ExtractionThe Mass Data Extraction (MDE) API allows scalable data extraction forreusing performance data. MDE is a streaming interface that enables usersto extract large volumes of data from the Tivoli Netcool PerformanceManager database. Using MDE, it is possible to extract a subset of data, transform the data, and load the data into a customer-specific reportingwarehouse.

Composite ResourcesComposite Subelements (CSEs), or composite resources, allow hierarchalrelationships to be taken into account when describing networks. Thismore flexible method of modeling networks complements the existingmethod of grouping resources. Using CSEs, Key Performance Indicators(KPIs) can be derived from metrics collected on other resources. A singleKPI can reflect the state of many resources.

DataChannel updatesChanges to the DataChannel component enable the deployment ofcomputations correlating any set of time series (regardless of whichcollector the time series originate) and allow more flexibility in CMEformulas, including:v Mixing traditional Proviso formulas on periodically polled metrics with

new, sparse (eventful) metrics in a unified computational model.v Aggregating metrics over a time period specified either by time duration

or a calendar (temporal aggregation).v Accessing metrics on related resources for use in formulas (CSEs).

The DataChannel now uses a more widely adopted language (ECMAscript)for expressing CME formulas.

A new component, Plan Builder, determines which CMEs will processformulas.

Changes in portal behaviorChanging to the Tivoli Integrated Portal means some changes in behavior from theprevious portal.

Multiple logins for a single user

Because of changes to the security model, each user can only have a single login.Multiple logins for a single user will become available in an upcoming release ofthe portal software.

Only one user at a time can be logged in to an account

If a user tries to log in to an account where another user is already logged in, thesecond user is prompted that the account is already in use. If the second userdecides to log in, the first user is automatically logged out and loses their session.

Back button in browser

In the Tivoli Integrated Portal, the browser Back button refreshes your currentscreen. Use the internal portal navigation to see previously visited KPI Views.

Bookmarking in browser

In the Tivoli Integrated Portal, bookmarking is not supported. Use the enhancedsearch functionality to find specific KPI Views.

Documentation addendumThe following topics have been updated since the online help was issued:v DataView User and Administrator Guide: “Creating multiple Tivoli Integrated

Portal users.”v DataView User and Administrator Guide: “Allow a user to see diagnostic reports”

on page 7.

Creating multiple Tivoli Integrated Portal usersCreate multiple Tivoli Integrated Portal users, and grant them access to the TivoliIntegrated Portal and Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager pages.

About this task

Run the following commands on the computer where the Tivoli Integrated Portalserver is running. These commands create a Tivoli Integrated Portal user, assign anappropriate role to the user and grant access to Tivoli Netcool PerformanceManager pages within Tivoli Integrated Portal. You can then script thesecommands to create multiple users. By default, Tivoli Integrated Portal is installedin the /opt/IBM/tivoli/tip directory.

Procedure1. To create a Tivoli Integrated Portal user, enter the following command:

tip_location/bin/wsadmin.sh –lang jython –user tip_admin_user -passwordtip_admin_password -c “AdminTask.createUser('[-uid user_name -passworduser_password -confirmPassword user_password -cn user_first_name -snuser_second_name -mail user_email_address]’)”

2. To assign an appropriate role to the Tivoli Integrated Portal user, allowing theuser to log in and perform Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager tasks:tip_location/bin/wsadmin.sh –lang jython –user tip_admin_user -passwordtip_admin_password -c “AdminTask.mapUsersToAdminRole('[-rolenametnpmUser -userids user_name]’)”

3. To add the Tivoli Integrated Portal user to a group, allowing the user to accessTivoli Netcool Performance Manager pages in the Tivoli Integrated Portal, enterthe appropriate command:v Default file-based repository example: tip_location/bin/wsadmin.sh –lang

jython –user tip_admin_user -password tip_admin_password -c“AdminTask.addMemberToGroup('[-memberUniqueNameuid=user_name,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm -groupUniqueNamecn=tnpmUsers,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm]’)”

v LDAP repository example: tip_location/bin/wsadmin.sh –lang jython–user tip_admin_user -password tip_admin_password -c“AdminTask.addMemberToGroup('[-memberUniqueNameuid=user_name,ou=People,dc=server,dc=company,dc=com -groupUniqueNamecn=tnpmUsers,ou=Groups,dc=server,dc=company,dc=com]’)”

4. To save the user configuration, enter the following command:tip_location/bin/wsadmin.sh –lang jython –user tip_admin_user -passwordtip_admin_password -c “AdminConfig.save()”

5. On the command-line interface, change to the tip_location/profiles/TIPProfile/bin/ directory.

6. To stop and start the Tivoli Integrated Portal server, enter the followingcommands:stopServer server1 -username tip_administrator_username -password

Allow a user to see diagnostic reportsUse the DataMart resmgr command to allow a user to see diagnostic reports.

Procedure1. On the DataMart server, log in as pvuser or any user with access rights to

DataMart.2. Open a terminal window.3. Change to the path where DataMart is installed. For example: cd

/opt/datamart

4. Ensure that your environment is set by entering ../dataMart.env.5. Enter the resmgr command with the following syntax:

resmgr -import rusr -colNames "rusr.name ruprp.dbIndex ruprp.nameruprp.value" -line "SSSW\\\\<username>|_|49000028|_|DV_UserTroubleShootingReport|_|49000026|_|"Where <username> is the name of the user to have access to the diagnosticreport.
